Thats the way legends are created. Take a limited batch of seeds, hide their genetics and create a mystical story around it, that suggest quality and supercoolness. And then make seeds and sell them.

This kind of story was introduced with C99 and the Chemdawg and it worked because the strains where good. But who tells us, that Mr. GD 1972 is not just a clever guy who learned to use this cultural narrative as some kind of marketing?

I mean isn´t that story a little too perfect? Seeds from 1972. Still germinating. Hello? Even the detail with the Grateful Dead is in it, which worked super with the legend around ChemDawg. And wait: From how many seeds the Chemdawg was created? Where it 6?

Make it rare and tell a good story. Thats what luxury-marketing is about...

I am never going to sell seeds, and I have never sold herb. The cannabis plant is not something to exploit. If you had done a little background research you would have noticed that early in the thread I made clear my intent to make whatever comes out of this seed freely and publicly available.:thank you:

Then do it for fame. I don´t buy this story, but neither I can verify it, nor can I falsify. So this is your thread. I am outta here.

why would this dude make up a story and then tell us he would make F2's and give them up to the server fund for free for all to enjoy (without profit)?

fame? maybe, but i doubt it. respect from the community for sharing rare genetics is more likely. what's wrong with that?

sorry, your position makes absolutely no sense.

i guess with some of the shady characters and/or happenings in the canna biz i could see your original doubts, but when Bear says he wants to share these genetics for free, to me, that makes him honest and gives him integrity IMO.

I appreciate that. I have only been growing cannabis since December 1st 2012, and I have yielded 52 grams of smokable flowers and 3 grams of ice hash total. Of that, I have kept 28 gs of bud and 2 gs of hash for myself and given the rest away to friends. I live in Colorado and I find that the commercialization of the cannabis industry could potentially have a negative impact on the quality of marijuana as well as the genetic diversity of the plant, so I want to avoid that. Look what has happened to date: because of the high price of street-sold marijuana and the necessity to hide grow operations, its more than likely that 95% of American smokers have never smoked anything other than an indica dominant hybrid in their lives. I was thrilled to find these seeds, and I stated in what I think was my second post that I do indeed hope that I have a similar situation to chemdawg insofar as I hope I get a beast of a strain out of some unknown old genetics.

Also, look at this plant. It looks and behaves nothing like any of the other plants I am growing or have seen growing. It depends on how she flowers, but I highly doubt this plant will be capable of developing a strain with any commercial potential because it is not the easiest plant to grow. Add to the fact that if you read the thread you'll see that it smells like dirt. In a world dominated by names like super fruity purple urkle candy lifesaver strawberry diesel kush cookies, I dont think a strain named "durt weed" or "mud bud" is going to have the same kind of appeal.

I have grown a total of 30 plants so far and I have given away 18 of them before they even began flowering. Thats what marijuana is about to me, and I see the plant as having potential to help our culture of greed if we treat it correctly.

also, you could have seeds that came out of Bob Marley's penis, but nobody on here is going to have any respect for you if you cant grow worth a shit.

I dont fault you for having a dissenting opinion. If it were not for dissidents, cannabis might be an extinct species. Everyone on here is a dissident at some level, I know I am, and damn proud of it.

Fantastic story, and very interesting thread! Really hope you manage to save the genetics. Im sorry if you already answered, but have you made any clones ? Are the plan to self pollinate it ? If you made some clones and pass them around you might have a second chance if something unexpected happens to your grow. Don't leave all the eggs in one basket ;)

Glad the seeds ended up in the hands of a friendly and sharing spirit...

Good vibes from the north!

Better than tv. I can't wait until fall when you flower this lady. What happened with those two cutting you took of her?

Yeah I did take two clones, I'll post a pic of how they are doing. As far as my eggs and my baskets go, I separated the seeds just in case of a legal problem, etc, and I only have germinated one for the time being. The idea is that I will see how she grows in veg and then determine the appropriate time to sprout the other seeds and hope for a male.

Sorry, but I have to agree... I mean, seeds from a Dead gig, for feck's sake, you could've chosen Phish or any other band instead. It looks suspiciously coincidental.

for sure, the only seeded marijuana that was ever consumed at a dead concert ended up with Chemdawg. Nobody's making you read this thread or grow free seeds at my risk. :spank:

Just don't feed the trolls and they will move along, I am interested in what you have going on for sure.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they resist you..........then you win. :D

Keep on with it man, seems there are lots of folks interested in what comes out of those beans.

Here are the two cuttings I took. They are looking fantastic and healthy, I think I will repot them soon.
