mechanic called tonight (after the place was closed) saying truck was finished. total came to a bit over $700 for everything! completely rebuilt back brakes, new heater hoses, and actuation switch for the 4wd. i may tip the ol' boy a fifty for not raping me. i was expecting several C-notes more on the tab... :good: :woohoo:

well, cancel the glee... went to get my truck, and he said "oh, we'll have to order the 4wd actuator. do you want that fixed too?" well, DUH! that's why i brought it in! it's fucking snowing here now. part will be here Tuesday, no labor involved, but another $350 ... so, my original estimate of around $1200 is gonna be pretty damn close.

Too happy on the phone?

I see the new Shelby Cobra isn't in the states, but the 700bhp one would still look great with a trailer

Be sure to keep the actuator that comes off. If they can't produce your part, it's okay, they have already bought you another, to cover the loss.

yep. don't understand why they didn't do this FIRST. that was the main reason i took the damn thing in! i could have fixed the heater hose, but didn't want to do that outside while it's cold/windy/rainy/snowing, and the brakes still worked. i need my 4wd, dammit...now i'm sitting at home with no vehicle, it's fucking snowing, and the part is "on order"... :wallbash: gotta calm down though. everything that they have done previously turned out great, can't let one glitch sour me on a good mechanic. :smoke: gonna go to my "happy place". well, i would if my TRUCK was fixed...:(

i've got an F-150, which my wife picked out because it was "pretty, and would look good parked in front of the house". :( drove it less than a week, and the POS plastic water pump fucking exploded. then, the windshield leaked, and the entire electrical system went batshit crazy! now, a plastic tee in one of the heater hoses has developed a leak so small that you cannot SEE the hole. the hoses are molded to the tee, so i can't just change it. i aint got the time/money to buy/change new hoses, and if i did, they have quick connects on them that cannot be reached without disassembling the entire truck, right down to the damn lug nuts. so, i've bought a two part epoxy designed for plastic by JB Weld that claims to have a 3900 psi rating and will adhere to damn near anything. anyone here have any experience with this stuff? if i could find a "saddle patch" that would fit, i'd epoxy it on top of the hole in the tubing as well... thoughts?
god this sucks :( Just how old is this car, it sounds kinda àncient´ -all those leaks etc.
But new modern cars are b*ll*cks too I guess, worse even
