No mate
after a new battery,,Dashboard control module,,and alternator regulator it’s still blowing a fuse so I have a Clarke jump starter which will help me get the car to my long term mechanics in the new year,,,,
Sorry to of made you think about it again man. What a bastard. Something isn't quite sitting right, having done a quick search. The regulator for the alternator, concerned with charging, is on the alternator with fiestas this age. The car ecu talks to it, but it's there, by the brush box. I have seen pics.
There is a regulator up the dash, but it's something else. I'm guessing a more computer grade psu. Nice steady voltages that can be referenced. Dashboards have often used them for a gauges over the years.

Our conversation has some crossover between the regs location and function. Perhaps your auto guy wasn't very good. The next shit thing to do, will be changing the alternator at the next garage. You know which fuse is going? Alts used to be straight to the battery, but big fuses are common now, so might it be the alt failing?

Shame I'm not nearer. I do like a puzzle. I don't get involved with normal jobs, but show me one where others have failed, and I'm suddenly interested.

part of the problem is she has a degree in education, while mine is in engineering..:sneaky::cool:
And yet you can't afford to or know how to properly fix a coolant leak on a used Ford F150. Ford trucks have been the best selling. longest lasting trucks in forever.
Why buy something you didn't really want. You should LOVE WHAT YOU DRIVE.

FORD. First on race day.

2009-2011 Lincoln Town Car, actually any LTC, the greatest car ever made. They can easily last 400000-600000 miles with regular routine maintenance.
Bought mine new in 2010 with 3 miles on it. $49000 base price for a 2010 Signature Limited. Added the Continental package for $3000 plus tax and tags around $54000 out the door. It has 60000 miles now. It would cost $75,000 today. It has only had regular maintenance done. Never a problem. Just bought the first set of replacement Michelin tires and had the second transmission fluid change (every 30,000 miles). Synthetic oil change every 3,000 miles. Coolant change at 50,000 miles.
If the wife is with me we are in the Lincoln Town Car. My daily driver was a 2014 Chevy Spark with a manual and 60,000 miles. My neighbor and his wife retired, bought a motor home and wanted a manual stick shift car to be able to town behind it. They wanted my Spark bad because I took care of it. They pried it from me for $9500. I didn't really want to sell it but that was a crazy good price. I bought it new for $14,000. I did just buy new tires for it and a new A/C compressor.
Now I am down to the LTC, 1994 Dodge B350 Van (80,000 miles) and a 1995 Buick Regal Gran Sport with 33,000 miles.
I don't like new cars with computer screens, CVT transmissions and transmission fluid you can't change.
Every company has good and bad cars. Most are good with proper care.

The Crown Victoria and The f100 straight six are probably two of the best most reliable cars ever made. I'm not a big fan of any new/newer car. But old fords are amazing.
Crown Vics, Grand Marquis, Mercury Marauder and the Lincoln Town Car are all Panther platform body on frame cars. They can last a very long time. They should have never stopped making the Panthers.
The Lincoln Town Car is the only car to ever get 5 stars in front, rear, driver side, passenger side and rollover crash tests.

60,000 miles out of tyres?
I'm lucky if I get 6000, and that's no exaggeration. Run them until canvas, twice a year.

Most in the UK have no interest in how a car drives. It's like choosing a suit. They want it to look good, which is exactly what was said about the wives reasoning. They will buy the fast variant, just to say they have it. These 150 things are getting popular, but it's only for those with an attitude that separates us. There is nothing sensible about a truck everything gets stolen from, and doesn't fit down the road, or into parking spaces. It's for people that like ugly dogs that will bite you (not the dog, they will)

Edit: This doesn't transfer perfectly to other countries. Where they might be found in logging land, not the capital

I drive one daily, and I have zero complaints.
