I think it is funny how the media always refers to these gardens as "labs." I think the word for a place where plants grow is "garden."

Actually I was looking at homes for myself to purchase to live in and not grow. I heard Orlando was cheap, but I'll have to look and see what areas the good deals are in. With the Canadian dollar almost equal, it makes buying a house in Florida a sweet deal. I would like to live in Florida for the Winter, and then come back to Cananda for the summer months - you know, like the old foagies do. I'm not old yet, but it seems a real possibility for me now and how could I complain. I can grow in Canada during the summer and I get to avoid the crummy Canadian winters. I was seeing homes listed at $120,000.00 that were nice with three bedrooms and a large lot. Like I said, I don't know what the area was like, but the homes in it looked really well cared for. Any suggestions on places to buy that are cheap at the moment?

Actually, I just realized this really has nothing to do with this thread other than being about Florida, so if anyone wants me to delete this just let me know. I don't want to ruin the thread. Thanks!

Unless you love traffic jams and congestion, and a high crime rate I would stay out of Orlando. Go over to the Space Coast, nice area, good prices. Try Cape Canaveral, Titusville, Rockledge and Merritt Island are some nice areas along the Space Coast and are an hour or less from Orlando attractions. like Disney, SeaWorld, etc.

Damn. It sounds like they are really letting loose on you guys down there. I'm starting to get scared. I have a business partner down there from whom I haven't heard. It's been about 2 months, which is not entirely out of the ordinary. We sometimes HAVE to go long periods of time without talking. We don't speak on the phone...
Someone was warning about a hydro shop. Also be careful of Gold Coast Hydro off of Bird in Miami. I used to stake that place out looking for LE who may be staking it out themselves. It was neccessary because I had to go there with a van and spend $5500. I've found they routinley survale that area. I believe that they have recieved cooperation from someone that owns a house across the street from the shopping center the hydro store is in. Please use extreme caution if purchasing supplies from this store.
It really sucks to hear that you guys are having such a hard time down there. Remember to keep your heads on MORE THAN EVER. LE knows that it's BEEN a hotbed down there for awhile and for whatever reason, they want to do something about it now... Probably because usage will be WAYYY up in larger grow operations with the summertime heat issues coming up... But whatever the reasons, BE ON POINT! We need every grower we can get! Smart growers that stick around a long time to kick out lots of bud for the masses. Not ones who last one cycle or LESS!
And I understand that not everyone grows commercially, but those who grow for themselves are still revolutionaries. You are self-sustaining users. Hopefully in the future that is what everyone will be... Stay Safe, Good Luck.

Maybe the Florida Growers should think about planning a get together somewhere. Maybe a harvest party or some type of weed convention. Growers could bring thier own strains and it would be a good way for like-minded people to netwrok and better organize thier efforts to Overgrow this BS government's intolerable laws on marijauna. Growers could trade cuttings, seeds, techniques. This could prove useful to many. Make sure you are meticulous and careful about who you invite and HOW you invite them. There would have to be someone who plans everything and then be the one responsible to ensure that no Piggies can show up... Maybe the the Keys are a good place to have it??????? I know the cops down there are crazy, but it sure is nice...

TGT, A house in orlando is fine, let me know the months you wont be staying in it and i'll take care of it for you lol :joint:

Art, I've heard the same about Gold Coast, never been there and never will. Not a big fan of purchasing at stores right across from a residential area :bashhead: My guy will open after hours for me just remember to never use your car or go straight to the grow location after :joint:

I do not know why anyone would go to a hydro shop or grow store anymore, use the net, you can get anything and no risk of your being monitored. Just make sure the place you order from ships in discreet boxes, Worms way does not, they sent a 2x2 botanicare ebb and flow tub in its original box (morons). But cheap hydroponics or high tech lighting are smart and ship in discreet boxes and a return address of either CH or HTG as the only company name :)

So true, Orlando is one of the un safest cities to live in and traffic is a mofo. I moved to Cocoa on April 1st and kick myself for not leaving Orlando sooner. Its much quieter here and much less traffic. I'm renting a 3 br, 2 full bath 1500sq foot house on a 1/4 acre lot for $800. The down side is their arent alot of jobs close by, gotta do some driving to get work and with the price of gas being what it is...
Orlando does have some nice areas but over all, its not a nice city to live in anymore.
For those who know the orlando area, i used to live off Lee rd, between I-4 and OBT.
But no matter where in Florida you move, the laws are all the same when it comes to what we do, and they dont fuck around.
Theirs a chain of hydro stores in Orlando, they have 3 stores, its only 45 min drive from me and i've never seen cops staking out those places. Fuck em if they did 'cause i keep 2 attorneys on retainer. I had a real bad run in with LEO 3 years ago and it almost sent me away for life so be carefull folks, Florida does not fuck around. I cant stress it enough. Florida jails/prisons are no Disney land. Be safe, :joint:

Yeah I've lived in the area most my life. There's hella traffic and congestion and yeah the crime rate skyrocketed in recent years, but it's still not as bad as some bigger cities and housing prices are cheap compare to other regions of the US (however local salaries can't sustain the median housing price, hence Orlando being #1 in the nation on the # of vacant homes list).

Hey, is Sunshine the hydro store you went to? I haven't been there yet, but they sell FF products so I'm dieing to get over there, just kinda paranoid about being watched.

doja420, yep, sunshine hydroponics is where i go. Theirs 3 locations now, south OBT, 436 (almost at the 1792/436 intersection) and on Forsyth.
They sell ff products as well as other well know nutes/mediums/sytems/lights. I pretty much buy all my important stuff there (ballasts, coco, gh nutes).
I wouldnt worry to much about leo, its not illegal (yet)to buy hydro equipment and shopping there is not even close to probable cause. But as always, use caution wherever you shop for goodies for your secret garden, even if its at Walmart.

You are growing sativas, right? My mom is indica, so I don't want them finishing during the rainy season. The rain starts in late June and goes through September. If I had put them out by April 20, they would have probably finished before the rains started. Even if you have indicas finishing when the rainy season starts, it shouldn't be too bad because the days are so long that the sun has a chance to dry the buds out after each shower.

I have made several purchases there. I never had any problems, but I didn't buy $5500 worth of supplies either. I never left there with more than I could carry to my car with my two hands. Who knows, maybe I was just lucky, but I think LE has too much work to do to sit around and watch people do something that is perfectly legal. They usually bust growers based on tips or by leaning on the dealers they bust.

Do you like city life? If you aren't going to grow, you could get a condo in Hollywood. Lots of Cannucks winter there. It is between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. I love the winter in Miami, but I dream of being able to spend my summers in cooler weather.

Yeah that's true, I'll probably just try going to that one in casselberry.

That's cool you used to live out here...I can't see myself living anywhere else. :rasta:

Btw, RIP B.I.G.

Yeah I looked them up through FF's website. I just get a little paranoid after reading the stories over in the security forum. I think about buying them online but then I'm leaving an electronic trail & I have to get them shipped somewhere that I don't want the people there to even consider the possibility that I'm growing ANYTHING (my living address and mailing address differ).

My main thing is I want to graduate up from having to go to Walmart & use miracle gro nutes...I've seen great results from FF products (through these and other forums) and I really can't wait to get my hands on them.

Do you happen to know if they have neem oil there, or maybe some other kind of pest control, like Bayer?
