So tell me How You Clone

Now I have grown my first Coco and They are doing Well and ready to Trim and dry in 2 weeks. The problem I am having is that the Clones I took of my girls are just not looking very Good
I used Root Tone and A light mix of Clonex in my coco and put them in pint pots under A dome for a week, They looked great at that point, But now they are not doing good at all. When I took them out of the Dome I started them on A 1/2 Mix of Clonex and Rhizotonic, Both at 1/2 Strenth.

Can some one tell me what they do to keep there clones in good Shape. They are under A T5 Light too I just dont no what I have not done but I am hoping that some one here can Take my hand and lead me to good clones.

Igotyourback, were your clones rooted already when you took the dome off and started feeding them Clonex and Rhizo?
OGH got me using the plugs/tray, no dome. Pretty much cut/dip (into rooting gel)slip them into the plug. No dome, no nothing. I keep the plugs moist by pouring water over them (the plugs) everyday. Getting roots 10 days average, 99% success. Cloning is still voodoo for me,I don't know what I'm doing right but its working. (Thanks OGH!)

Igot, I wouldnt go over 1/4 strength for clones. and dont worry about your spelling/grammar, most of us have been on a while and its pretty easy to read. I mean your no Weezard thats for sure...lol (j/k one of our buddies on here is from Hawaii and there is a def. learning curve to getting his posts). all good man.

evl, do you spray the clones themselves with water to keep moist also or just the pouring once a day?

OGH, any chance you could give us a class? i'm sure Igot and I could benefit. WT and I havent been having the best of luck with them lately, maybe a new method is necessary. gonna be taken more either tonight or tomorrow and we need some MUCH higher %'s to get going right.

My Cloning realy sucks as soon as they come out of the Dome. But Im Here To Learn And As Qwestions and You Guys Are What Has Kept My Grow Going So Far

here is my method I would say 90% success rate why I pay attention to them.


Pro mix is what I usally use, I ve used straight perlite It worked but I didn't think it worked as good as pro-mix and was better than rockwool I thought Pro-mix was the best at all of them.

I have seedling trays and sometimes i use cups I fill up with pro-mix take my clone dip into some cloning gel or powder and stick it in the dirt and than water it, Put it under a dome with a CFL or 2 mist every once and while. Keep the pro-mix generally moist but not soaking wet, You soak it to much and after 2 weeks you pull it up the stem black and dead, If it gets dry Its not that big of deal but still you want try to keep it moist, maybe after a few day I will open up the vents on the dome and eventually take the dome off, you check by pulling up on the clone to see if rooted, if its anchored you know its rooted. Than just let in finish rooting into whatever container you use and give it some grow fert and transplant when its ready for bigger pot.


You can make your own little dome just get some clear tupper ware a cfl from lowes, some rooting powder, some non-fertlizered soiless meduim, maybe coco would work to IDK and your set.

When you're cutting clones, make sure you cut at an angle and not straight across on the stem.

i just use the shultz rootn hormone {from walmart} and a pellet tray with dome

i take my cuts they go instantly into a cup of water for bout a 1/2 hr mean while im soakin pellets . after pellets full i drain tray and gently squeeze out the pellet so its not soked but still has some water weight { wont dry out in a day } then i shave the outer stem at the bottom 1/2" with a clean razor dont wanna go 2 deep just take off the outer layer, then i dip back into water then dip the 1/2" into a pile of root powder roll the end gently tap to knock of exess powder and stick into pellets then disregard unused powder.now i put them in the tray mist all leaves and the dome then put them in indirect light
i open dome at least once a day let them breath for 2 min and mist leaves and dome after second day i start mistin the pellets also never let them dry out and i have roots poppin out of most 5-10 days

oh yea and always take more than ull need like the old sayn " i'd rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it"

Today was my first "official" cloning attempt as well....after many a horrible and mislead attempts...I finally think I have a tek that will work. Seeing as this is my first time actually cloning for purpose, we shall see how it works out.
Purple Pinecone, here we go!
Mom will be ready to flower shortly....a couple days to recoup from her haircut and she's on!

the only thing i did different was i added superthrive and an asprin in my h20 and then i made a 45 degree cut under h2o.

on my first attempt i took 3 cuttings and all 3 are at the end of flowering right now.

sns, I just pour right over the top of the plug, right where the stem goes in. No spraying at all.
I had OGH come over and show me how to do it and I went from 0% to 99%. I can't tell ya wtf it is I'm doing right though, lol.
I start out like toasted does, I take a cut and immediately put it in a cup of water for 10 minutes or so. Also, I make sure the plant is fully water and fed. I do coco so I'll give it a full strength feeding and cut off her an hour later.
