mostly alfalfa tea and hen manure compost. alfalfa tea has a learning curve like you wouldn't believe... it's a recycled soil that was made with tomato tone, bat/bird guano, ewc, compost, leaf mold, sphagnum peat moss, top soil, lava rock, granite dust/sand, greensand, rock phosphate, limestone, gypsum, elemental sulfur, diatomaceous earth, bentonite clay, biochar, some mineral mix I picked up from the local dro store and some perlite particles.

damn brother you have a hell of a mix there. i am going go use the philthy's mix with the twist the dank frank put in it. i will use shrimp meal instead of the blood to calm down the nitrogen. it looks like this

30# ewc
alfalfa meal
dry molasses
kelp
shrimp meal(instead of blood)
fish bone meal
seabird (pellet)
sul-po-mag
azomite
lime
gypsum
oyster shell flour
insect frass
bio-vam
bio-ag vam endo
base is 1 bail pro mix bx 3.8 and 2 bags of ffof 1.5 cf
will be mix and put in 100 gallon smart pots. this will be my first try with it and hope it's not to hot. should only need water start to finish.

That is not the full base...fwiw. Should also have 1 - 30# bag EWC and roughly 10 gallons additional chunky perlite to that base (perlite added for his drainage preference, your preference may be different - Phillthy liked a very light / airy mix)

If I were you, I'd not be subbing out the blood meal for something like shrimp meal. (6-6-0 ??)

FWIW - this mix was altered over time while working in conjunction with Phillthy. After the NSPB mix runs - I simply gave him the full recipe. He decided it was too much effort / work to mix and too space consuming to keep 50# bags of stuff - so I began working on a formulation that was in line with what he had already purchased and had on hand. The basic organic mix is a result of that. I know he stated he saw zero difference with the alfalfa or the dry molasses - but loved the addition of the sul-po-mag. However, I think those differences are absolutely noticeable in regards to the activity of microorganisms and thus in the nutritional availability rates of the various organic amendments. I'm a firm believer in high bio-activity reducing the rates at which something "breaks down" in a soil system.

For the above reasons - if you want to switch to Shrimp - fine - but I'd not get rid of ALL that blood. If you are doing 100 gallon pots - each batch of the Phillthy mix is about 65 gallons. Consider using 1/2 and 1/2 blood and shrimp. If you are for some reason ideologically opposed to blood meal - then switch it out for a powdered high N bat guano. (Vital Earth).

If I were altering a formula - I'd be doing a small test run with things indoors to make sure you are getting the feed levels you need. 100 gallon smart posts sounds a lot like outdoor trees. I'd hate to see you find yourself in a situation where you are trying to supplement success through out the growing season.

I think you'll find that veg times are reduced by 2+wks per container volume - and that flowering cycles will be struggling past 10wks - if you remove the blood meal.

I'd suggest, maybe, trying a small run following the recipe AS IS - before trying to make adjustments to something you have no experience with. Feel free to hit me up with any questions. Good luck, Flboy! :joint:

PS - Phillthy NEVER took the time to "cook" his mixes. He mixed and then planted minutes apart. He was much more of the mindset, anything that needed to break down would do so during the time period things were vegging. This also meant at times - he would transplant for flower in a freshly amended soil mix as well. I honestly don't know if he ever made any direct correlations between flowering performance in composted soils vs freshly amended soils. That is one you'd have to ask him. I tried for YEARS to get him to advance prep and allow time for composting - his schedule was always too busy. There was never an available time slot to do prep work as much as there was time made to do what needed to be done. He was very much of the mindset - if it isn't broken...don't fix it. His garden certainly wasn't broken - marginal improvement at the risk of his time, was never a worthy pursuit for him.

Just some insight that I hope helps you understand WHY the mix is the way it is.

dank.frank, speaking of Philthy... I think about him often and I wonder how's his situation? and... do you have an idea about if Stank Bros is going to release anymore Carolina Blue genes? I'm kicking myself in the butt every time I see Heady's Stank Bros Blue gear. I should have gotten those CBDB's way back when we were talking about them ... I'm still kicking myself.

Well update on the Christmas Beans...

The Amnesia x TT is the 4 on the left. On the right I finally have 2 of the WFA#6 x TT up. Roots already out the bottom of cubes on the Amnesia. Plant on the far right is some of my last harvest I'm re-vegging since I didn't get clones.

So that stem will re-veg and then you can take a clone from it? Never tried that myself but I have one pheno that I wish I had a mother of that hasn't been cut down yet, may have to try this.

Yes it already has new growth on it. Just can't see it in the pictures. When they re-veg they get really bushy and make good mothers. There are some good threads going on re-vegging you should check it out. It is a good read.

I usually take clones at 3 weeks flower but I was in a rush this last run. I was out of weed so I ran 12/12 from seed so the lower shoots never grew long enough to clone they turned into large bud sites instead. So I kept the best 2 producers and am re-vegging.

These are both just bag seed that I started with but everyone that has tried it loves it so i want to keep it going. Very sativa dominant and a good producer even with less than stellar conditions.

Hoping 1 of the 2 new crosses will be something special though.

bugman

the 2 bears were taken in west Virginia about 10 years ago. if memory serves me correct they are around 300 plus lb each. the one that is just the head mount was the way i saw him last. the first arrow just pissed him off and that is how he looked before the second put it on him.

CG, as long as you remember to leave the larf on the plant after you harvest ... it will work, old buds turn into new growth. With me, all it takes is 18/6 lights for 7-15 days ( about as long as it takes a clone to root) and a shot of Nitrogen (alfalfa) ... You will literally see new leafs grow from the center of a larf bud ... It's ugly at first and if you have a dense nugget forming plant you will want to trim it up all the larfy mess before it rots, after it re-vegs ... remember, If there aren't any bud sites to grow the new leafy tops from ... it will fail.

I re-veg a lot because I start a lot of seeds... I prefer the re-veg technique over taking a bunch of random cuttings of unknown quality seed plants ... plus I'm super lazy.

Gentlemen and Ladies,

Good after morning all. Newbie, please be kind on me. Love playin in the dirt but have never grown. Finally got off all the Oxy and other fabulous pain meds I've been on for the last 15 years due to a very, very bad accident in anticipation that we're going to have MMJ soon and I can medicate the natural way instead of that trailer park trash heroin they've had me on (no offense to anybody in a trailer park - lol - like I should talk).

Looks like I've got a lot to learn, so again, please be gentle.
