long time no post...

long time no post...

Sup all!

Been awhile I've posted in the thread... Was too paranoid bc I run bigger ops, usually just lurk here.. Mind if I dump some pics of my last test spot?(House of horrors-where I test new strains, methods, media etc..) got this room running 2400 watts, 3x6 tables under each, testing varieties all the time... Unfortunately had to shut it down due to security issues(dumb guys I was trying to mentor bringing crazy gfs with them) and put my warehouse op on hold as well.

Table 1- White rom, wifi, fugu kush, c99, ak. Super uneven canopy. 1 gal coco pots with drippers fed 3x a day with GH

Shitty close up of WifiA#1- reeks like gas, and pine, this was week 4 i think?

Playing with my cam, upclose after a mag foliar feed

Reference size of a white rom, excuase the crappy photo quality

Potential moms in the making from the pheno hunt

Any of you guys run the gavitas yet? About to close on a house, planning a 6 or 8k maybe on flip if I can't get the gavitas... I wanna know how they run during the summer since they can't be aircooled. Usually have 2 24000 btu mini splits anyways, might need to go with a central a/c system for those rooms alone

Is that why you prefer magnetic ballasts?

yessir, I got a stack of digi 1ks that I'm scared to use cause they scream rf all over the place, had a cable guy come knocking awhile back. a friend gave me a magnetic but it has bit the dust so I'm back dj'ing on am for 12 hours at a time til it gets here. should be here by the 19th. til then we're playing all the old classics like signal jammer"s #1 hit "crackle hiss" and who can forget intereference's smash hit of the summer "creeeeeeesquealscuuuurrrkardrdrdrdrdrdrd"?

Ghost9, im curious if those gravitas really require 9'+ ceilings. Always heard that. Id be amazed if you could cool those on central ac without duct reconfig.

Not looking to switch as i dont want to rebroadcast Hugh's pirate radio greatest hits over this way any time soon.

Not too sure, the house I'm looking at, looks right at bout 8.5-9 ft in height in most of the rooms.. Lol wasn't planning on using the default A/c duct setup found in the house. Was gonna have my Hvac friend swing by and help me install a rheem 6 ton just for the room I'm using if I go the gavita route. It's partially gutted, and I always buy and "renovate" the houses anyways, so no real big hassle there. Rather do that than have to get multiple mini splits...

I heard that they don't spit rfi? Due to the ballast being connected to the fixture and no long ass "antenna" cords. Shit if I heard wrong, I cant rock those either. I wouldn't just be broadcasting, I'd be my own station!

I'll update with some news for ya after I swing by the shop. Gotta see if they can strike me a deal, need new equipment anyways... I'll test run at least one gavita, see how it works and I'll let ya know.

Gavitas are super hot bought a 1K.. To test for myself... Those DE throw off a tremendous amount of heat. SO much so with my fish tank I got rid of DE and switched to SE bulbs.

The Gavitas throws such a spread but the light diminishes off the side just as fast and just as bad as any other hood. They are def. made for more of a WH grow rather then a house. Without the height you have to cut them back or burn the plants so then you not utilizing the strength of the bulb and getting Spectral sifts. This is what experience I had with them. I think with a 8-9' height your better off with an air cooled 1k or go with the 600's and put them to the roof as high as they can go.... Hope this helps.

Dang def would be too hot during the summer to run then, back to the AAW or hoods. Thanks for the input though Twisted, good to know someone down here has run em..

Thinking about running em anyways bc I'll have a lot of room in the spot to play in, A/C and misc funds isn't a problem. I thought they were better in groups rather than individual set ups, something about the uniformity of the light when overlapped, thats why its so good for greenhouse/warehouse supplemental light?

And I'm not just ignoring ya btw, bc if it doesnt work out then I always have a warehouse or two I can use em in ;)

Thanks GO, unless that male was sterile I can't imagine that I won't have a ton of seed. But if that is the case I will definitely let you know as I want to play with this strain again.

Outdoor breeding is never easy - you have to have a solid plan, execute the timing and fully understand what you want to accomplish and prioritize strain purity.

I have a decent amount of land to spread the plants out, but all it takes is a couple days of the prevailing winds suddenly changing directions or a few busy bees and it's very easy to cross contaminate a breeding project.

Typically I try to time it so that when a male busts open, other flowering strains are in their last two weeks of flower so there is not much chance of pollination and anything else that is not a target is still in veg. Differing maturation rates, life demands and nature can wreck the best plans though.

For example, the only other plants in flower when the TT male let lose were a couple volunteers that looked interesting and the Laughing Tiger.

The Laughing Tiger is a Dutch "pure sativa" so if she gets a little TT in her I doubt I'd complain as I doubt that strain is A) pure sativa or B) a keeper.

The 4 DPXPQH girls are in the first 10 days of flower so I doubt that they are mature enough to get knocked up yet, but even if they do that's another cross I wouldn't mind playing with.

I'm absolutely fired up by what I've seen so far, and knowing what all you guys think of this strain I can't wait for the finished product!!

That male will definitely make some seeds. I would be curious to see how they turn out for sure. I have yet to see any purpling on the females and didnt get a chance to start looking for male keepers before I had to shut down. Would be very interesting to see if he passes on the purple trait.

Outdoor pollenation is definitely a lot more difficult than indoor by far. You are at the mercy of mother nature. Sounds like some awesome crosses you have planned and what might be. Keep up the great work bro!!!
