Flight pattern for helicopters when doing thermal imaging?

FWIW, here is an update:

Nothing else has been grown since the grow in the OP.

Around the same time, I was noticing more police cars cruising through my neighborhood, even some from neighboring jurisdictions. They didn't seem to be responding to a call, just patrolling. That was really freaking me out, too.

No have cops showed up.

Helicopters still occasionally fly under 200 feet altitude and circle my house during the day or night for a few minutes and fly away, about once every couple of months.

In any event, I have been living the straight life since then and even gotten involved with my community.

Let's just hope it was a fluke. At worst, if I did attract their attention, they couldn't detect a consistent, long-term pattern of heat signatures to indicate a grow (due to ripping the grow), and they have been "stopping by" once in a while just to see what I am up to.

I don't know. Whateva

It would seem that someone, in some department, would get his ass handed to him if they went through all of this trouble/expense to find a 400W grow... someone would get fired and/or laughed into oblivion, right???

Im thinking you mean a little higher than 200 feet.?? Thats frickin low man.

Well, I didn't have a step ladder and a tape measure that would reach how high the helicopter was, so I couldn't give you an exact figure of the helicopter's altitude, but 150-200 feet is definitely a good guess. It *may* circle as high as 300 feet, no more.

well, i think they probably never knew anything of a grow, there is probably some other reason they are flying low around your place, but its killing 2 birds with 1 stone in your situation...

if you wanna grow legally come to california...

The problem with IR is that it can see the heat of the wall its looking at, but not much else. If your room is below ground (basement) or in a room inside of the house that has no outside walls you are pretty much safe from IR.

IR would be more suitable trying to find people in the dark more so than peaking inside a house.

Update:

I have seen a few police helicopters slowly flying overhead, about 300 feet altitude. When I say slowly, I mean 10-20 miles per hour, tops.

Yes, I know what the police helicopters look like. These were definitely police helicopters.

Still not growing, but here we are 1 year later and helicopters have been passing over my house for the last few weeks. Prior to a few weeks ago, NO helicopters were flying over my house.

Thoughts?

Krusty,

It was good to see you had enough foresight to pull your buds. I hope your lettuce and peppers are coming along fine. Now you are cooling off the panic button, it's a good time to turn the tables on those arsehole leos disturbing the peace.

Make a phonecall to the F.A.A. public complaints department....leos hate paperwork. Get a video of them with a recording device that picks up sound levels and get them charges with unlawful disturbances.

If you really want to have some fun get some camo hunting clothes on and a bigass water rifle and sit on your roof with it, while your pal has the video rolling.

Seriously another easy way to draw complaint to these idiots is get hold of your local news and broadcast it to the entire public via radio and television.

Hovering/cruising below 500 feet in a residential area in less than pursuit of a perp evading leo is indeed an infringement of basic privacy and the right to sleep at night.

Play the game, embarrass the hell out of them and they will go away.

Moral of the story..."If you want me bent over, Pucker-sucker":moon:

Nuff said.

Since you aren't growing, I suggest you get 1-2k HPS lamps and grow a lot of tomatos. Make it seem "obvious" that you're growing something (let light peak out of window, etc), and remove all valuables from your home for the ensuing raid.

After you laugh in their face for raiding your tomato garden, sue their ass and use the settlement money toward a new home. Then grow!

LOL at that post. I'm not trying to make fun but you are VERY sadly mistaken if you think that the F.A.A is going to do JACK SHIT to LEO and military. I'm not going to say much more because of my location but like I said you are very sadly mistaken if you think they give 2 shits about about noise ordnance or height restrictions! And that's all I have to say about that

get a hunting spot light or something and beam it right at them next time they fly over just for shits and giggles.

Ha ha this guy said it for sure!!

I don't think a 400W alone could be a problem, but again it's ur ass not mine. From the way u tell it I'd be really paranoid by now, luckely you don't have a major Grow op in there lol
