Flight pattern for helicopters when doing thermal imaging?

I pulled them and dumped them as well as all my seeds.
After I got back from making the dump, I step into my house for 30 seconds and stepped out to do something outside and...
There was a helicopter flying away. This time, it was about 1/4 mile away when I saw it and its lights were on (not the spotlight, but all its running lights were on).
Still got he light, the hydro setup and the nutes to deal with...
Those are legal at least, right?

You also have to take into account the areas. I'd imagine there's tons of grows in humboldt, thus why they only go after the big ones. In little oppressive towns I've seen police do illegal, time consuming things just to bust people committing any sort of crime.
Yeah those are defiantly legal, i would buy some vegetables like lettuce or tomatoes or something. That way you can have an excuse, also i think it would be funny as shit to make them look like jackasses if they raided your home. (then you could sue them for breaking and entering. lol 
)

I do have a tomoato/pepper garden in my backyard.
If asked, I could say I was getting ready to overwinter some cuttings. Should I have an active vegetable grow indoors, too?
lights nutes and such are legal, my buddy last year had a OD, chopper came by, swirled around abit and left, he ran over tryin to pull his plants, and in no time cars, SUVs were commin up his driveway. he was busted for 6 plants.
bunch of money and he got outta it, with a bunch of BS for 6months.

Someone just got busted 30mins from me by the State Police helicopter. Here I was thinking I was safe because my county does not own a chopper, and then the State Police have to lend a helping hand in this epic Marijuana fight. Now I have to wonder if the helicopter is heading my way or not.
Meanwhile I have never seen the police remove deadly plants from ditches or roadside fields, but they love Marijuana. Children of society could more easily walk in their front yard and eat a poisonous weed before they stumble upon my Marijuana.

Actually he could have fought the "private" copter for flight violations.
FAA regs require 500' altitude from tallest structure on land any closer than that and it is not only a violation of FAA regulations (they WILL take his license) but an invasion of privacy and trespassing (again FAA regulations state that you own 500' of airspace above your property)
police have some loopholes to break the 500' barrier but only if they are actively engaged in a warrant or pursuit of wanted individuals of an active crime.
any other activity by police copters is probably a neighbor saying "that looks like pot plants in the yard (your tomato plants), i will call the police"
or... a snitch.

i'd leave the light running if i was you, for the next 2 weeks at least. start growing something that grows really fast.
helicopters cost $1000 an hour to run, for a small/mid size one. smalls can be $600 an hour. hospital copters can be over $4000 an hour. its very very expensive, so i doubt they were going after you, but may have been up already and saw yours.
what time is this happening.
i'd also be start watching cars around your house, try and see if anyone follows you.

the people that posted in this thread are fucking crazy you act like your the ganja kingpin of south africa growing with your 400w light . Did you know ther is no difference in heat signature from a 400w or a 32" tv it looks the same from above you threw out your plants and seeds for no reason the cops are not worried about you it cost a lot of money to fly those helicopters and they are not investing $10,000's of dollars trying to bust your little 400w grow...
even my 2000w grow is nothing to worry about these choppers are looking for big ass grows
Yeah my 1000w PSU in my PC, plus all the other components in my computer would put up more of a red flag than your 400w HID (They are probably putting off about the same amount of heat to. lol). Also it's running about the same time of day as a grow light would. If cops were looking for every 400w surge with a little heat, every one with a gaming rig would be raided. Its not that big a deal, especially in today's culture with more and more energy being used. Also if it is cold at all where you live (or hot for that matter) you could blame the power on an AC or the heat and on a space heater. I tend to do most of my indoor grows in the winter any way.

we really dont know what the helicopter had on it. if the ir camera was below 15mk then you can most likely tell whats what, and where you are in the house. most people dont keep their computer gaming rigs in a closet...maybe a server rack in a air cooled closet
flying that low is very very uncommon, especially 2 days in a row. theres no need to fly below 500 feet looking for people, and youd have the spotlight on, always.

My point was mainly on the power consumption end.
still its not a crime to grow indoors, only to grow cannabis, if he has plants outside (not weed) then that is a perfectly good reason to own such equipment. It is a violation of your rights no matter how you look at it. its like saying your a terrorist just because you have bleach and ammonia or drain-o and mr.plumber (Strong acid+Strong Base= BOOM) in your house or even owning a gun for that matter. just because you have materials or objects in your home that can be used for something illegal doesn't mean they will. And should not be grounds for a search warrant, and power consumption is your own business. The only thing that should be grounds for investigation is previous arrest, or detection of said controlled substance.
