First Indoor Grow -- 400x HPS in Bathroom --

Hey ICMAG, Whats up? So I finally descided to post my growroom today. I borrowed a digi so i can show some pics!!!

Here is what ive done over the last few weeks---

Started plants from seed about the begining of April.

I used 6 NYCDxC99 seeds i had from a friend-
And a few bag seeds i had from some pretty tasty stuff!!!

I still have 3 of the NYCDxC99 as 1 didnt pop and the other 2 were mutant and not doing well.

My 6 other plants are from the bagseed.

There are in veg under 3 75w floros (1 light for every 3 plants)
Currently the are potted in 8" pots with MG Organic Potting Mix

Im waiting untill they have 7 nodes to put them under 12/12 -- Is this too long to wait or too soon?

Once i've ridded the room of all males ill be repotting the fems in 3 gal. square buckets...This time ill be using a a mix of Fox Farm Ocean Forest and ProMix(BX i think) instead of the MG.

The plants will be under a 400w HPS for flower!! Which will be mounted to a frame I built over the tub using 3/4" plywood and 18" 2x4 for the legs

Food/Nutes-
Currently im using 1/2 Tspn of FF Grow Big per gal, and will work them up as needed.

For flowering ill be using Tiger Bloom

Venting/Scrubbing--

Room is sealed off at door and window for light leaks-

Intake is a passive intake at the base of door

I have a darkroom louver installed- Props go out to Icough2getoff for this idea!!

http://www.shop.com/op/~Adorama_Dar...rs,_8_X8_-prod-22031579-29895818?sourceid=298

Outtake will be a Stanley Blower mod...Which im still working on....Blower will be set up in the attic pulling air from the room and venting it into the attic....

I also have a wall mounted air circulation fan moving air around plants and hps to cut down on heat.

Scrubber-- 4lbs of carbon with 200cfm fan-- Not sure if its really rated at this amount but thats what the seller stated... Ive tested it out and it works well!!!

Here are some current pics of the grow room......

This is what the room looked like before i modded--

NYCDxC99 about a week old--

Room Shots --

Plant Shots---

Close up NYCDxC99

Thats about it for now--- More pics will be up later next week---
By that time ill have the new door installed as well at the outtake system set up and running

I'm open for any ideas and critisizm....Please let me know what you think so far....Im a newbie, so help me correct my mistakes and learn from them

Hope this turns out to be a good thread........

Pease out,

Looking good mate - so do you have the plants in the bath? :biglaugh: Awesome - and good drainage! :D

Are those clay pots? (do they have a hole in the bottom?)

Your little plants are looking great :lurk:

Hey Sammet, Thanks for posting!!!

The plants are in the tub, they are just raised to be closer to the light.

As for the pots, no they are not clay, just your generic plastic plant pots with drainage holes in the bottom.. They are each sitting in a run off tray as well

Thanks for stopping in

Lookin' really good Stanky! Good to see you're motivated and staying on top of it. Your plants look fantastic so far.

Only thing I can think of is I can't remember if you are in an apt or house. If you're in an apt just be careful of all the stuff you put up in that attic because sometimes a cable guy or electrician might have to go up there for another unit. Chances are they wouldn't care but just something to think about. If you're in a house then it looks like you're golden. Looking forward to the rest of the grow. :canabis:

Hey Icough....

I do live in an apt. However its a 2 family house. I live on the 2nd floor. All the cable boxes and utility boxes are on the ground level... And here is the greatest part, my attic is all mine, You can only access it thru my bedroom closet. The property owner has there own attic space in the addition built on the back of the house..... I went up in attic the other day to scope it out and i didnt notice any wiring or cable equipment, but thanks for the heads up, you need to be ready and aware of all situations

Ill have more pics and updates and im also going to do a step by step on the ventilation---

Thanks for stopping by and posting!!!!!! :woohoo:

There might be different opinions on this one but from my experience, if you don't top them, then from seed I like around 8-12 inches depending on how much height you have to work with. Different strains can vary dramatically in how much they stretch after 12/12, but as an overall average I'd say they grow about 3x as tall as they are when you flower them. Might be a good idea to go easy the first time with seeds. Then if you grow their clones you'll have a much better idea on when a good time to flower would be. Overgrown plants are not as much fun as they might sound.

I think i get what your saying,

So you think i should top them at about 8 to 12 inches, then put them under 12/12 to sex them?

Or sex them then top the plants?

Thanks again!!!

Topping is usually done some point in veg before flower. I'm not trying to say you should top them though. I've topped and I'm gonna try going back to not topping because I don't think the yield was much better, at least in my experience. My good friend Tokinsmokin never tops and he gets huge yields. I'd try just keeping it simple your first time around and get a good feel for it. Plus your first grow, you're gonna want to stare at that huge main cola. Mmmm... it's making my mouth drool already. :canabis:

edit: unless you were planning all along to top them, nothing really wrong with that. I just didn't want to change your mind from not topping to topping is all.

Thanks Icough......

I didnt really think much into topping them...Ive topped plants outside but I was very unsucessfull many moons ago.....HaHa.... So i never did get to see the turn-out..

So I just figured to let them go the way they naturally would and watch them and learn so my next go around I would have a bit better knoweledge of the plants...

I love this place....if it wasnt for everyone here id be lost....Ive learned soo much in the last few weeks than i ever have.....That room looks nothing like what my original thought's did for it....

Ive actually noticed some fast growth on the internodes......Maybe they are going to get nice and bushy anyways!!!!!!

Ill try to get more picks up soon.....

Come on everyone, lets hear your thoughts or concerns .....I have a feeling this is going to be a good grow!!!!!!

Hey Grownz,

Thanks for the post!! Ive never seen this strain, no pics or nothing. I got them about a year ago and never did anything with them. 3 out of the 9 are NYCDxC99, soo im keeping my fingars crossed for aleast 2 of them to be girls.

Question about cloning? I oviously need to wait to find out what sex they are before i can clone. After turning them to flower, is it ok to clone and then keep in veg? Or will that be to stress full.

Let me know what you think!!

Personally i'd never clone after going to 12/12. Done it before and i just don't feel they did as well. Some people do it with no problems just extended rooting time and re-veg time so to me, it's not worth the extra time. Feel free to experiment! When i first got cloning sorted i was cloning left, right and center. LOL
There's a couple of ways to do it. You can either wait till they show sex then clone the females, if you wanna wait. What i'd do, but i like to veg for awhile.
Or you can clone each one and label them, then while these are rooting put the plants you cloned from into 12/12 so they show sex, then just throw out the clones from the males and finish flowering the females while the clones veg. I hope that makes sense..

That made perfect sense!!! I prolly have a few weeks to get cloning all set-up before i can do that.....

Thanks for the info man-- I thought of doing that but i was like" man thats gunna take alot of time" but i bet it will be worth it in the end!!!!

Either way you will have atleast 8 weeks to root and veg em so by the time the first lot finish your next lot will be ready for 12/12.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to post an update....Ive have made some changes to the growroom in the last few days.

First off... i completed my stanley mod tonight....I am installing it tomarrow!!!!

I pretty much followed the mod as posted...however I i didnt cut the outtake vent....Instead I cut 2 peices to 1/4 styrofoam insulation and taped them together and fit it to the ducting. No leaks and seems to be working great!!

Ive also added a wall mounted oscillating fan... Fan works great however it vibrates on the wall like crazy.....I havent been able to figure out how to muffle the vibrations....So if anyone has any tips or advice please let me know!!!

Here are some plant up dates....8 out of the 9 are doing great!!!!

Here are so photos of the plant im concerned about....I cant tell if its a ph problem( i havent gotten a ph tester yet...ill be getting one soon) or nute burn.... I fed the plant 1/2 tablespoon Fox Farm Grow Big per gal. on the 20th and this is the only one who didnt respond well.... Let me know your thoughts!!

sorry about the blurry pic....

Leaves are curling under and the bottom leaves are just about dead all together....

Any thoughts on whats going no please let me know...

Ill have another update on tuesday!!!!

Peace,
