Hey Giantmanbags - Glad you could stop by and check out this little ol' Texas grow show! I appreciate it very much. Come back ya'll, ya hear?? :biglaugh:

Hey Rule and Mil - Ask and ye shall receive!! Sorry it's been a bit since the last update but I wanted to allow a little growth before posting. As the pics show, we've had some significant growth with most of the plants. The plants are now between 17 and 23 days from seed. I have been trying to figure out at what point does a plant go from seedling to vegatative stage. For lack of a better conclusion, I decided that when the lights went a full 18-6 last Tuesday that that would constitute the onset of the veg stage. Therefore, we are not quite a week into veg tonight.

Tonight I watered-in the plants with their first full regime of veg nutes. A couple of the plants lowest fan leaves were starting to turn a bit yellow as you can see in the pics below. I feed them with 4 mil's of Grow and Micro, 1 mil of Bloom, 6 mil's of Mother Earth Tea, 3 mil's of Fulvic Acid, 2 mil's of Superthrive and 6 mil's of Voodoo Juice. This was mix into 2 gallons of water PH'd to 6.3 that was aerated since yesterday.

Now for the pics, starting with the POK Kush x Critical Mass. The three PKCM's are all doing pretty dang well. One in particular, Critical Mass #2, is virtually dwarfing the other plants. It's leaves are leaning towards the indica side of things and the fan leaves are absolutely huge! Internodes are very tightly spaced and even though it's probably between 7-8" tall, it's leaves are as wide as the pot. Critical Mass #3 is significantly smaller in stature but looks equally healthy. Finally, CM #2 is quite small but this was the little seedling that was just transplanted into the 1.5 gallon pot last Tuesday.

First, CM#2 with a side view and a top view.

CM #3 is about 4" tall now

CM #5 is a spry 2 1/2" but you can see it's lowest leaves are a bit yellow. Hoping that the nitrogen fed tonight will green those back up.

My one lone AK47 x C99 may not be a keeper. If not, this makes 0 for 5 on Joey Weeds seeds from Seedbay. As mentioned in a previous post, these beans were apparently several years old now and thus explains the extremely low germination rate. As you can see from the pic, it's leaves look quite healthy but rather than developing opposing sets of leaves up the meristem, it doesn't even have a meristem to speak of and it's only grown four leaves, all at the same node. It appears to be a stunted freak. If I don't keep it, it will be replaced by the last Apollo Mist that germ'd. I've been keeping it in it's seedling cup just in case this AK didn't make it. Anyway, here is the stunted AK47 x C99.

Resdog's Apollo Mist are also showing why his genetics are well worth the money spent. Four out of the five beans popped and all have been doing quite nicely. In particular, AM #4 and #1 are turning out to be gorgeous plants. AM#1 is just as tall as my big Critical Mass but not quite as bushy. AM#4 is a couple of inches shorter but very bushy. While the size of the AM's varies, their structure is very similar indicating to me at least that this strain has been nicely stabilized.

Here's my big Apollo Mist #1 (side and top view)

Now AM #2 and #4 respectively

And last but certainly not least is Apollo Mist #3 which is likely to take the place of the stunted AK47.

To round out this update, Reeferman's Blue Thunders are truly looking remarkable. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this ends up being the "Killer" strain of all of my grow. While all of these plants show to have some rather indicaish looking leaves at this point (which really surprises me since the Mother is a Blueberry Sativa and the Father is a Kodiak Lavender), it looks like I definitely have at least two phenotypes here. Blue Thunders #3, #4 and #5 all look to have similar growth characteristics. Their color, leaf shape and relative height are virtually indentical. Blue Thunder #2 does look to favor the Blueberry Sativa Mother with slightly more slender leaves and a deeper green color. Blue Thunder #1, as I noted in a previous post, appears to be the real Blueberry pheno with the "whorled" leaf growth early on. I've been really keeping my eye on this one as she may be the keeper of the bunch as I am hoping we'll get a true purple coloration from her. On with the pics!!

First, Blue Thunder #3, #4 and #5

Here's the BT #2 with the more sativa looking leaves.

And, finally, BT #1 with the "whorled" lower leaves.

Well guys, what do you think? So far, so good? Let's hear what you think of their growth so far. Is this about where they should be for approximately three weeks from seed? I'll be interested to hear what you think.

Oh yeah, BTW, yesterday I opened the cabinet during the off cycle with no fans on and my nose was ASSAULTED by this "skunky", "weedy" sort of smell already! It's not overly strong yet but definitely noticable. I am kinda surprised by the Skunk smell as I don't think there is any Skunk in any of these strain's heritages. Although I suppose that Skunk #1 was a building block in most all of these strains at some point in their past. I just hope that the Skunk characteristic turns to a most citusy or hashy type of odor. That was one of the reasons that I picked these strains because they didn't have Skunk as a characteristic. Oh well, time will tell I guess.

I won't have the ability to put any carbon filtering in the cab because of space problems. But I am thinking about putting an "oil type" Glade air freshner in the power strip just to perfume the air up a bit. As these plants get bigger and the odor increases, I may have to try some of that Ona Gel. I understand it's pretty effective and the small jars aren't that big. I've heared this stuff works pretty well. Anybody tried the Ona Gel yet? If so, I'd really appreciate hearing how it's worked for you.

Until next time, I'm out. Thanks again for checking in on my little grow!!

Hey bro. I have never seen a plant look like your AK47 x C99, too bad, I would have liked to have seen it grow. (Quad pheno?? :biglaugh: ) It might still make it though huh? The rest of your plants are looking good, Mine are just a we bit bigger than yours I think, yours have about a week on mine as far as sprouting goes. I can't wait to see how the Apollo Mist and Blue Thunder turn out. Everything is looking great!

I have never seen a new grower put so much effort into planning and researching a grow. Very nice. Everything is extremely professional, and obviously well thought out. The plants look great. Hope the grow goes well for you. BTW isn't it strange how much smell they can put out even though they aren't flowering? I have grown some strains the smelled worse in veg than other strains in flower.

Still here my man, droolin away :yummy: . They're looking excellente. Even the mutant is cute and green - gotta love that! Your prep definitely paid off, the kids have been hop-skip-jumpin along and are growing like - well - weeds! :biglaugh: (ducking).

Hey Relik....lookin great. Out of the 3 pok strains I've sprouted the CriticalKush had the fattest leaves...the others being KryptoKush and CitralKush, all are being grown by a friend and early smoke on CriticalKush is a very good head buzz no body yet, they are only 6 weeks into flower so I would imagine they will give out some body blows when the time comes!!

Hello All!! Sorry it's been a while since I've updated my thread here but I've been a busy camper trying to get my flower closet completed. What a MAJOR pain in the ass it has been too. I am really behind on updates with the grow and the construction of my flower closet, so I will try to get some updates posted by Sunday. My fourteen year old daughter is with me this weekend, so I have to hide everything until Sunday. :biglaugh:

As for the grow right now, I will say that I have been performing a little S&M on them over the last week (aka LST). While several of the plants have really gotten bushier from the LST, I can't actually say that the axial branching has taken off as such. I released a few of them last night so that I could do a little pruning. Okay, quite a bit of pruning actually. God, I hope I haven't fucked them up!! Damn, pruning for a newb is unnerving as hell. :biglaugh: So, like I say I'll update on Sunday with pics.

Rule, my bro! Thanks for checking in on me and for the PM's. Hope all is well with you girls. Sounds like you got a handle on everything.

Northernlightss - Thank you for the nice compliment, sir! Looking forward to having you drop by more often.

Mr. GreenJeans - I am sorry to report that our little runt AK47 x C99 just didn't make the cut. Luckily I saved the last Apollo Mist seedling and now she has taken the AK99's place in the 1.5 gallon pot and is taking off like crazy. Hopefully she'll end up being a girl!

Giantmanbags - Thanks for the PM's regarding the Critical Mass. Hopefully these won't hermie like your friends did. I have three of them and they are all looking very nice. Two inparticular are the best looking of all the plants! I really do appreciate you checking in here from time to time. Look forward to hearing from you more often.

Well folks, we'll see you Sunday with a BIG update!! Til then, Tah Tah!!

UPDATE TIME AGAIN, FINALLY!!!

UPDATE TIME AGAIN, FINALLY!!!

Okay guys and gals, the long procrastinated updates are finally here. I have been remiss in my efforts so now I have to make up for time lost. I will do these updates in a series to cut down on their length, so bear with me.

I need to discuss the nutrient regime that my plants have been on now for some two or three weeks. As I stated before, I will be/am using the Advanced Nutrients 2+program which involves their three part (Micro, Grow and Bloom)

as well as, the supplements that they have included in the 2+rprogram. I don't have all of it as yet (funding has been lacking) but I've got most of it. These supplements include B-52, Mother Earth Tea and Carboload.

Additionally, there is Fulvic Acid, Revive (only used occasionally after stress of transplants, pruning or any other stresses) and, of course, the highly prized Voodoo Juice.

I will soon have the remaining products that will complete the 2+program in the next week or so. I have to order these online but should have them in time for the last two weeks of veg and all of flower. These products include: Sensizym, Humic Acid, Barricade, Piranha and Final Phase. I will also be using Tarantula which is to be used in cooperation with Piranha but as of right now is not included as part of the 2+program.

For flower, the addition of Overdrive, Big Bud and Bud Blood round out the rest of the 2+program. The Bud Blood is the powdered supplement on the right in the next pic.

While there may be some other great nutrient programs like Pure Blend, Fox Farms, GN or others, I chose to go with AN because of their ongoing support of the medical cannabis community and their constant research of their products on cannabis. While most uninformed people think of AN as a solely chemical based program, the fact is that 60% of the 2+program is organically based.

Just the fact that they have the "balls" to come right out and admit that they formulate their products specifically for cannabis (while the other companies won't even speak of it) says a lot to me as a cannabis enthusiast. They are very active in supporting not only medical cannabis legislation all over North American and beyond, they also support decriminalization/legalization programs as well.

Add to this the fact that I have spent WELL over 10 hours on the phone talking to Tech Mike (their tech support guy at the 800 number), the choice was born out of loyalty to these guys. Tech Mike has given me so much advice and tips that I couldn't have paid someone to coach me and gotten any better information. The nutrient calculator on their website also takes all the guesswork out of how much to feed and what to feed your plants. It is absolutely awesome! I give it a big, big  ! I haven't even mentioned all the great grow related videos that they have on their website as well. One of which is a side by side comparison grow where they tested their products against the other five big name nutrient manufacturers and kicked all their asses, hands down!! And all of this at no extra charge to us!!!

I don't mean for this to come out sounding like a commercial for Advanced Nutrients but, if it does, oh well!! I just think that anyone (especially us newbs) wanting to get the maximum results from their plants, with ease of use, owe it to themselves to at least check out their products. It is the most comprehensive line up of nutrients on the market today . . . period!! And for those who think that AN is WAAAYY more expensive then GH or Pure Blend, check again. Their three part is the same price and their bloom enhancers are right inline with GH or Pure Blend. Yes, they do have a lot of other products but you don't have to buy them. That is, unless you want maximum yields!!

In the end, my total investment in the entire 2+program will be around $500.00 but, mind you, virtually all the products will last for at least two or three complete grows!! That about $167.00 per grow to give your plants the best feeding regime available. It's a No-Brainer to me. A half an ounce would more than pay for that expense.

Right now I am feeding my plants based on the Week 2 veg cycle schedule on the nutrient calculator (approximantely 600ppm). The next feeding I'll moved them up to the Week 3 schedule (800 ppm). So far, all looks pretty good. I'll be updating tomorrow on the latest growth of my babies! I've been LST'ing them, crushing the hurd and doing a little bit of pruning, so their is much to see since the last update. See ya tomorrow!!

Hey Rellik, just checking in, haven't been around for a while...looking pretty sweet, man...seems like the LSTing is catching on in a big way---I've tied down 4 of my Green Nepalms and left 3 untrained as a wee experiment myself, and I'm loving the results so far--week 3 in flower and there are 8-12 budsites on my little tied up girls, wicked
Anyway, keep it up bro, peace

UDATE TIME!!

UDATE TIME!!

First of all, I have to apologize that I have been so slow to update this thread. I hope I haven't lost my audience here!

The plants are now 38 - 44 days from seed. A lot has happened since my last update . . . some good, some bad. Shortly after my last update, I started tying down the plants using Caprichoso's LST methods. Initially, I didn't see much in the way of bushing out of the plants. I kept them tied down for 7 or 8 days. By the end of that time, I could see the axial growth starting to take off. The plants formed anywhere from 4 - 6 elongated branches in addition to the main meristem. Unfortunately, one of my POK Kush x Critical Masses starting looking droopy. Upon closer inspection, I saw that the meristem that I had tied down had snapped and was causing the leaves to wilt. When I tried to straighten it back up, then branch literally broke off into my hand! I decided at this time to untie all of the plants to allow a bit of vertical growth for a while. The PKCM with the snapped meristem has rebounded nicely and is shooting off several branches from below the break and should produce some nice colas for me (and she is a girl by the way!).

Shortly after this, I started seeing that a couple of plants had been munched on. The leaves had been chewed away on and portions of the leaves were just gone! I immediately broke out my magnifying glass looking for the dreaded spider mite. But try as I did to find any small creature lurking under the leaves, there just wasn't any to be found. Hmmm, what could it be? Then I spotted something moving along the top of the soil. I found a brown colored beetle-looking thing with black spots on it's back! It was about the size of a lady bug and looked quite similar to a ladybug or maybe a tiny beetle. Well, I removed this pest and looked through all the other plants and found nothing. I then broke out the SM-90 and have applied it in a foliar spray every three or four days since. I also hung a Hot Shot pest strip in the Mother cab as well as a sticky tape trap for anything that might be flying around in there. The plants have responded well to the SM-90. In fact, they seem to love the stuff! After applying the plants perk right up and the leaves get a nice deep green color to them. I have since read quite a few posts and people seem to swear by this stuff! So far, I am very happy with the results.

Now, I am almost embarrassed to admit this but I did make a total "newbie" mistake. When I first untied the plants from their intial LST'ing, I decided to do a little pruning ala PistolWhipt's "Prune Along" thread over on CW. Well, being a "newbie" dumbass that I am, I pruned on several plants what I THOUGHT was "sucker" growth that would be robbing the plants energy from the tops. In my over-zealous state I didn't realize that these weren't "suckers" but what was the start of new axial branching! DOOHHH!!! :bashhead: Anyway, I sort of got a sick feeling as I was doing this and decided to leave the other plants alone for a while (I only trimmed 3 or 4 of 'em). The good news is that I have continued the LST again for the last week or so and these plants have started kicking out axial branches above where I trimmed, so not all is lost. I doubt I will get the yield of the other plants but I certainly should get a big center cola and a few colas from just below the main meristem. Oh well, live and learn, right?

I am ALMOST done with my flower closet and will be totally done tonight with it. My plan is to repot the remaining plants into either 3 or 5 gallon pots and move them into the flower closet for two more weeks of veg under the metal halides. I will let them grow verically now since the axial branching is quite prolific on most all plants. I will be using the CO2 enrichment during these last two weeks of veg and throughout the flowering phase up until the last two weeks before harvest. We should see some amazing growth during this time, especially in stretch. I have room for these babies to get to about 3-3 1/2 feet tall. Right now their height is hard to estimate because they are tied down but I would say that the meristem on most is at least 12" long. Hopefully, this initial training will allow them to finish at a reasonable height.

The last of my Advanced Nutrients just came today and I will be feeding them upon transplanting on Thursday. The will get the full regime at that time. Up until now, they have been receiving the three part, superthrive, a tiny bit of Carboload, occasionally a little Revive, fulvic acid, Mother Earth Tea and Voodoo Juice. I'll feed twice and then a plain water feed every three days. By the third day the pots are really light but the plants haven't wilted a bit. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the plants respond to the new AN stuff that just came. The Sensizym, Piranha and Tarantula should really help to get great root growth happening in the new pots.

Well, lastly, the plants have started to show their pre-flowers over the last couple of weeks. I have 6 confirmed females (4 out 5 Blue Thunders and 1 out four Apollo Mists and 1 out of 3 Critical Masses). Two of the Critical Masses are definitly male and are about to be pulled. Of the remaining four plants, it's still a bit early to tell but most a looking rather masculine to me. I'll let them go into flower until sex is determined for sure. The good news is that my Bluebery pheno of Blue Thunder is definitely a female and, if any of you have seen the pics on Reeferman's thread on Blue Thunder, I'm excited about the possibility of seeing some ELECTRIC PURPLE buds on her in just a month or two!! That's about it for this update. Sorry it's been so long coming. Here's the pics of the plants. First up are the Apollo Mists!

Apollo Mist #1 (It's a Girl!!)

Apollo Mist #2 (Sex undetermined)

Apollo Mist #4 (Sex undetermined)

Apollo Mist #3 (Sex undetermined)

Now Blue Thunder #1 (Definitly a female!!)

Blue Thunder #2 (Sex undetermined)

Blue Thunder #3 (It's a Girl!)

Blue Thunder #4 (Another Girlie!!)

Blue Thunder #5 (She wears a G-String!! :biglaugh: )

Finally, the POK Kush x Critical Mass. First, Critical Mass #2 (He's got balls  )

Critical Mass #3 (Definitely female and the one I snapped the meristem on)

Critical Mass #5 (Another Butch but look how tight the nodes are and how vigourous - too bad he's a male)

Lastly, at total Garden Shot as of last night

Well, that will do it for tonight! I promise to keep this thread on a more timely schedule with regards to updates. I appreciate everyone's feedback and well wishes for sure. Keep 'em coming!!

Hey Tex - Thanks for the quick response to my post! Yeah, I am pumped about the Blue Thunder, bro! No wonder you have such a love affair going on with Reeferman's genetics right now. His strains are explosive and vigorous to say the least. I hope to eventually work more of his stuff in here at some point. One of his strains with the Panama Red in it sounds amazing and I know you just dig Willie Nelson! Anyway, thanks for checkin' up on me, bro', it really means a lot to me!!

Howdy Relic, nice update. I can relate to over-trimming, its gets kinda out of hand sometimes. peace,Bonzo :friends:

Hey Bonzo - I guess pruning is one thing but cutting future limbs off of your plants is a whole other matter. :bashhead: I guess if your growing SOG or SCROG and want single cola plants then trimming all the branches off is a perfectly normal practice. I wish I could say there was more malice of forethought here but I guess that's why we do this, so we can learn from our mistakes. Suffice it to say, I've learned my lesson here.

Rellik my bro, those are looking nice.
Wait til ya see my update tomorrow.

man what a great thread. i am starting off too and it is great to learn from your thread. the AN looks like great stuff. i am following BOG and using pureblend now and i seem to like that a good bit but i may look into the AN.

thanks for the work!

Hey Rule, my good bro'! Looking forward to seeing those plants of yours. I'll bet they're looking great by now!

Rabid - So good of you to join us! You can hardly go wrong by following the BOGster's methods. I have learned much from BOG and can't wait to get ahold of his Sour Bubble BX2! I can't recommend Advanced Nutrients' products highly enough. In fact, I recently read where BOG posted and said that he was wanting to give them a try as well. So, c'mon board with the AN, man! Their technical support is fantastic and their nutrient calculator on their website makes it soooo easy!! Give 'em a go, bro!
