I can't wait, Zepp!! This stuff smells so good now that I'm literally salivating. Thanks for dropping in, my brotha!!

Hey Immortal!! Those Bogglegums of yours look absolutely spectacular, my man! Should be a bountiful harvest for both of us. WooooHoooo!!

Yes, Mr. Greenjeans, I highly recommend Reeferman's Blue Thunder to anyone that wants or needs to grow a high yielding, forgiving strain that clearly shows it's Blueberry heritage. Keep us posted if you end up with some of the beans!

Danimal, my brotha, you made my night with those sweet and kind words!! As I have stated so many times before, if it wasn't for all your expert advice and tireless support, I would be NO WHERE with this grow! So many other fabulous growers of ICMag have certainly been outstanding with their help and advice as well but you Danimal, my dear friend, have been my backbone throughout it all! I am indebted to you, sir. :friends:

Hey b is me! The Blue Thunder #5 is looking really awesome. I only wish I hadn't gotten so carried away with pruning early on with this one. If I hadn't, I would have a lot more bud from her for sure. Oh well, chaulk it up to another "newbie" lesson!

A-Loc - Thanks for dropping by, my brotha! Good to have you aboard and thanks so much for your kind comments!

It's always an honor to have the breeder stop by, Lucifer! Yes, it is sad that the Apollo Mist didn't make to the end all healthy but she is now hanging up and drying. Theres still some good bud to be had from her and she didn't look too bad once I manicured her a bit. The buds did get pretty frosty so it will be interesting to see if she smokes well at all. I will say that Reeferman's Blue Thunder has, indeed, been the star of this show! Awesome job, Luci on these genetics! I can't wait to get these buds dried and cured to see what the smoke is like. It should be some rockin' bud!! Thanks again!! :headbange

UPDATE TIME!!

This is now Day 60 of 12/12! The plants were given Advanced Nutrients Final Phase twice last week and, last night, were given their final watering of plain PH'd tap water. From this point on they will receive nothing. Tuesday will begin their 48-72 hour dark period and I will harvest on Friday! WOOOHOOO!! :canabis:

The plants have continued to put on more and more trichs. The Blue Thunder #5 continues to be the frostiest pheno by far. The other phenos have put on more trichs but doesn't look as if they will ever catch up to #5. If trichome production is the measure for a "keeper", then the choice is obvious. However, I will wait to smoke all the phenos to see if the potency and quality of the high is really that much better than the others.

The leaves on a couple of the plants have started to turn a dark purple now that the plants are well into the ripening process. I expect by next Friday they should be really purple. So, the next pics I will take will be AFTER the dark period just before I chop them!! OH BOY, OH BOY! We're getting close now!

Here are the ladies as of Day 60 of 12/12!!

Blue Thunder #1

Blue Thunder #3

Blue Thunder #4

And finally, the awesome Blue Thunder #5!

Well, how do they look to you guys? I'm getting a little post-pardum depression here! :biglaugh: I have really grown fond of my girls and, in a way, it's going to be sad to see them come to an end. I guess that's the morbid thing that is a part of what we do. I can't think of many other things that we look so forward to the death of something!! :biglaugh: :biglaugh: I'm sure that I'll get over it pretty quickly! :joint:

Stay tuned over the next week folks as I will be doing the final update of this grow. Of course, I will follow up with shots of the dried buds and final weights. Then, after a three to four week cure, I will post a full smoke report both here and in the smoke report forum. As always, thanks so much for all the comments and recommendations!! The folks of ICMag Rule!! :friends:

hey relic sweet grow, the first and second generations of clones from the blue thunder #5 will be frostier and tastier than the original seedling, this is a general rule that applies to all seedlings and clones, landrace sativas can actually get better up to the 3rd generation of clones since they are still maturing

also the clones you have from the bt#5 should be more compact and slightly fatter and finish slightly faster than the original seedling

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words! I'm sure my post-mortum depression will be quelled with the first toke from my beauties! :joint:

UPDATE TIME!!

As of 8am this morning the Blue Thunders have now entered their final descent. They are now in their 48 hour dark period and will be harvested on Friday. When I checked this morning there was only a trace of moisture in the four pots so the soil should be bone dry by Friday. It will be interesting to see if they pack on more trichomes like BOG says they will during this dark period. I will take the last living pics when I open the door on Friday so the proof should be in the pudding as they say.

In the meantime, I thought you might be interested in seeing how the clones from these plants are doing. They have been vegging for approximately 42 days or so. As you may remember, I took these clones after the mothers had been in flowering for a week. It did take a little over two weeks to get good roots showing, so they really didn't get to vegging for 14-17 days after I took the cuttings. I have clones from each pheno of Blue Thunder that I have and I have a cutting from my now-defunct Apollo Mist! I FIM'd and LST'd these babies and you can see that I have some nice "candlabra-shaped" ladies. I have also been pinching the tops to try and keep the canopies nice and uniform and, for the most part, I have been successful with it.

Here's some shots from a couple of nights ago starting with the Blue Thunders!

And the Apollo Mist Clone!

All the clones have been listening to the Sonic Bloom music everyday for at least an hour or two.

I got this CD Clock Radio at Best Buy for $28.00 and it comes on automatically fifteen minutes before "lights on" at which time I mist the plants. Three of these clones (2-Blue Thunders and 1-Apollo Mist) have also been treated with the Sonic Bloom Foliar Spray concentrate both in the form of the foliar spray as well as one treat each in the soil. While I can't really say that the treated plants are any healthier than the untreated ones, they certainly have a bit more vigor to them, have branched out more and are taller than the untreated plants. Only time will tell if the Sonic Bloom treated plants will yield any more than the untreated as is purportedly the case.

Also, in the case of my whithered, PH affected Apollo Mist, the remnants of the plants have been hanging up and drying in my closet. After a light manicuring of the larger fan leaves I hung them up to be dried. I wanted to salvage what I could from it and, surprisingly, the buds don't look too bad. While they are light and whispy, there is a fair amount to be smoked. I am also wondering if the "whispyness" of these buds aren't just indicative (to some degree) of the strain itself. I found out that the Kali Mist mother that Rez used has some Haze in it's lineage and, as I understand it, Haze is very whispy itself. I really can't wait to get my clone into flower and see what this strain can do when grown properly!

They are pretty dry after just five days of hanging so, on Friday after I chop down the Blue Thunders, I will pull down the Apollo Mist buds and do the final manicure and put them into glass jars to be cured for at least 3-4 weeks. Here are some shots from Sunday as they hang in my closet.

This is a shot of the main cola which turned out to be pretty nice sized considering that the low soil PH really started to hurt this plant at about week 5 of 12/12. The second shot shows a nice color to the bud albeit a whispy little sucker! :biglaugh:

Now for a couple of close-ups of the bud. As always I had to use a 10x magnifying glass to get SOMEWHAT of a close-up shot. The plant turned brown from the PH problem but it has made for a nice appearance, don't you think? The bud still has a grassy/hay smell to that I hope will be changed into something more appealing during the cure. I have smoked a little taster bud of this and while it is not going to surprise any of the real hardcore stoners out there, it has a really pleasant "up" high! It is by no means the most powerful smoke but it is among the more pleasant smokes I've had and is somewhat reminiscent of the true Kali Mist that I had a year ago but nowhere near as potent. I am hoping the cure will improve it's potency but not bad at all considering that this plant was basically dead when I took her! If you look at the closest shots, you can see that she really did put out a nice amount of trichomes even though she was having such problems. This is a nice testimony to Rezdog's genetics, I believe!

The next update will be sometime this coming weekend with full shots of the Blue Thunders after their 48 Hour Dark Period! WOOOHOOO!! :canabis: I will then transplant the aforementioned clones into their 5 gallon buckets and off the flower they will go. Ahhhh, nothing like the "perpetual harvest" thing happening!! :headbange See you this weekend!!

First rate job all around! I like the way you LSTed the BTs - I've been thinking of doing the same with Amnesia99 next grow. They should yield for ya! :canabis: . The AM bud still looks mighty tasty, betcha the taste and potency will improve after a cure - man, you did a great job salvaging the burn victims, and now they're saying thanks :biglaugh: .

Looking forward to the BT weekend update...

With your help, Danimal, my second run is going famously! It really is all about getting everything "tuned" in a bit to what the plants want and need. Thanks again for everything, my brotha!

Thanks for the kind words, Zepp! Yes, the Blue Thunders clone very well and it looks like the second run may yield better than the first as bud set has occurred much more quickly than with the seed plants. I tell ya, it's a lot of work to just keep up with my little grow. I don't know how you do it AND keep up with all your grow threads. You are a true "CANNA-WARRIOR" :dueling: , my friend! Keep up the good work!!

Mr. GreenJeans - Yeah, the taste, odor and potency seems to be getting a bit better already and the buds have been in cure for about 10 days now. I HIGHLY recommend LST as well as Supercropping (Pinching) to promote multi-cola'd plants. It really fun to manipulate the shape and canopy. It's almost like an artform to get the plants shaped like those beautiful plants we all see on these great threads.

Yes, I was able to salvage the Apollo Mist buds and, surprisingly, they are very tasty and, while not overly potent, they have a great high. I can't wait to see how much better the buds will be on a plant that actually gets to finish without dying. :chin: Oh well, I am still a "newbie" :gaga:

UPDATE TIME!!

Well, I made a complete and utter dumbass, bone-headed move and accidentally deleted all my harvest pics before they had been fully downloaded! :wallbash:  :petting: Of all the damn times to lose your pics! Anyway, after they came out of their near 72 hour dark period, it was easy to see that the trichomes had increased significantly and the Blue Thunder #4's calyxes were turning PURPLE!!

I cut the full plants off at the base of their stalks (a moment of silence and a quick bowl in their memory :joint: ) and then cut of the branches one by one removing the big fan leaves as I went. The Blue Thunders were a breeze to manicure both before hang drying and after. This strain has a very high calyx to leaf ratio and is a dream to work with post harvest.

As I mentioned before, I was able to save the buds from our "near death experience" Apollo Mist! One thing I wasn't aware of with the Apollo Mist is that the Kali Mist (mother) has Haze in it's genetic makeup. Aside from the fact that this plant was ill the last couple of weeks prior to harvest, the Haze influence may explain the "whispy and airy" bud structure of the Apollo Mist.

Luckily, I was able to get some shots of the buddage hanging up to dry so all is not lost. Here's some of the pics of the Blue Thunders. First off is the Blue Thunder #4 which turned purple during the dark period.

This is Blue Thunder #3 up close and personal

I have manicured this bud and they have been in glass jars curing for ten days. I will post some pics of the curing buds this weekend with some general comments about flavor/odor and such but a full smoke report won't be completed until the buds have cure for three weeks. I would love to be able to cure them a bit longer but I really need to get this bud moving along and recoup some of my initial investment on my grow setup.

Now here's some shots of the Apollo Mist which is very surprising to me that they finished as well as they did. I think this is a testimony to the resilience of Rezdog's strains as they made it through despite my "newbie" screw-ups. :pointlaug

Sorry for the long delay in updating but, frankly, I have been really bummed about losing my harvest pics. It seems rediculous to have gone all the way through this grow and then lose the most important F'ing pics of all! God, I could have comitted "hari-kari" when that happened!! :yoinks:

As always, thanks to everyone for showing their wonderful support of this grow but IT'S NOT QUITE OVER YET! Wait 'til you see the curing buds. Now, I know it's not good to brag but I have to say (as objectively as possible) that the Blue Thunder buds are some of the prettiest buds I have ever seen in person! I'm really, really proud for a first grow. Now, it's time to step it up a bit and shoot for even nicer with my second run. I will post the curing bud pics this weekend . . . I PROMISE!! Thanks again, guys and I can't wait to hear what you think!
