Good evening Packerfan.I have been working on my aunt for years. I think it's just something in her head not a concrete recipie, lol. I have gotten pieces of it here and their. I just need to get in to it and experiment some. Kind of a bad time for the family right now, my uncle ( her ex husband) passed away about a month ago. My cousins are having a really hard time with it. My aunt's current husband just took a job and bought a house in Texas without telling her. She only had 10 days to prepare for it. My cousins are pissed at their step dad. Really shity the kids are all grown but they kinda need their mom, or at least some time .
Sorry about your uncle bud, I think I read another thread about saying goodbye and he had been a good influence to you in your younger days. That's a tough thing. I'm sure your cusins could use some time to work through this. 10 days to prepare for a big move is crazy. Really bad timing and not cool.
I know all about relatives who don't write recipes down. My grandfather died when I was in my mid teens but was a great cook. When I was very young we use to make Italian sausage like his parients from Sicily made. A few years ago I decided I was going to make sausage just like I remembered it from back then. My first attempt was horrible so I turned to the Internet and books to learn what others were doing to make good sausage. I learned a lot about it from what cuts of meat, how much fat, salt, ect. Once I figured out the basics I was able to play with the spices and get it dialed in.
