those beauties arent that bad rode, i would trim up the lower third to put all their energy into the tops but its not as bad as you made it sound
how long are you planning to veg for? what size containers are they in?
kind of broad leaf for oaxacan, are these crosses you made yourself?

Hey Pop
not so bad now but at one point they all looked like the bottom third all curled down and burnt. Thats all new from the last week or so. Its the Bodhi Zipolite clone of one still in flower. Some of the others were more nld but not much and they are far from finishing in week 17.These get more narrow as they mature. Mother of These look almost done getting cloudy and some tan so I'm cloning them but not the nld looking ones. They are all fluffy buds as expected and early trials of the lower buds are smooth flavor and kind of speedy. I am looking forward to the cross of the males from this batch with the Bangi Haze girls.
Hows the Fruity Jack coming:plant grow:

looks like you did a good job of bringing her back to health!
trimming up the loose ends will let her put more energy into the tops as well as facilitating air flow
17w is a long time to wait man, hope it produces some nice weed
the fruity jack are soaking as we speak and i am waiting to see that first root emerge
im hoping to get them into cubes later today

Happy Friday tribe.

I hope everyone is finishing their week on a high note (get it? 'High' note LOL). Things are rolling along in the jungle this week and will probably have a harvest to talk about in the next week or so. The gorilla bubble cuts in the cloner are taking their time to root and I was behind on taking them so looks like there will be a little gap between this and my next flower cycle.

I want to comment about some soil issues that we have talked about in the past here in the jungle. A couple of us have had some issues with hydrophobic soil. My fox farms soil both happy frog and ocean forest have been getting more resistant to taking an even watering for the last year or so. A couple weeks ago I picked up a wetting agent called coco wet at the grow shop. After a couple waterings using it my soil is behaving much better. It soaks up more water and dosent dry out as fast ( or as unevenly I believe). In fact I'm starting to wonder if some of my issues that start right around the time the streach ends were caused by soil that wasn't holding water evenly and the root zone was drying out. It will be interesting to see in my next flower cycle when I'm using the wetter from the start if my grows improve. Time will tell and I'll keep y'all posted.

@pop_rocks. Yes for sure we've talked about this time change nonsense in the past and how stupid it is. I'm with you on hoping that we do away with it someday. With the sun comming up later this is the only time of year I get to sleep in a little and the time change is going to mess that up. Plus changing my light timers is a pain and the plants probably don't appreciate it, even though I just do a few minutes a day for a week or so.
To be honest I'm not sure what the winners costumes were this year. The contest goes on inside the house and I'm always out back tending the fires so I didn't get to see it, I know who won bud don't remember what they were wearing. I'm glad for my guests that enjoy dressing up but not really into it myself so I don't pay a lot of attention. The ET costume sounds cool, I loved that movie when I was a kid. Your stay at home dad idea is awesome as well. In fact I might steal that one for next year since I don't like to do much with a costume I could be that wearing my normal clothes.
Yes for sure a pipe and beer are mandatory accessories for cooking LOL.
I don't have a lot of plans for the weekend, hopefully some mtn biking and defenatley taking it easy on Sunday and tuning into the game Sunday night. I'm expecting Rogers to have a great game in New England because he seems to step up when the stage is big.
I hope you have a great weekend too brother!

@Rodehazrd. I'm with pop, your plants don't look too bad to me. If that is as bad as it gets you don't have much to worry about. I'm glad you got them turned around and back on track. Good luck on the cross with the bangi!

i used to add a drop of dish soap to my water outdoors to help it penetrate dry soil
indoors i like to mix in a little loose coco to help, but i think you do that
im really interested in seeing where this goes for you fiddy, who dosent want better water distribution
that sounds like a fun weekend and i will be watching football this sunday for sure
rams play the saints this weekend and this is going to be a tough match up; NO is red hot and can score a lot of points plus they have a good defense
that sounds like an awesome set up you have in the yard,f'nut
two fire rings! thats sweet
sometimes me and the mrs can burn a few twigs on the back porch but nothing too big
have agreat weekend brother and enjoy the sunday night game!

Good afternoon pop_rocks.
A drop of dish soap is a great way to break the surface tension as well. The first time I heard people talking about adding soap to their water and to their folar sprays I though they were crazy. To a new grower like I was it just doesn't sound like something that the plant would like one bit but sometimes things are counterintuitive like that. I have to be carful not to make a lot of changes all at once but I'm going to add some rock powders to my soil for my next flower run and continue with the wetter as needed. Maybe it will be a game changer for me, or just a step in the right direction, or maybe it will have the opposite effect. Only one way to find out.
Speaking of football and the Rams I was kind of impressed that the packers hung in there as well as they did last Sunday. For a while I thought the pack might even hang on for the win. Packer nation up here is starting to get a little antsy about how things are going this year and we might see some more changes in the staff sooner or later. Since the team is not owned by one owner changes come more slowly here. If we had a Jerry Jones or an Al Davis here I think that The head coach would be gone allready. I think that term limits, like the US president would be a good thing for football coaches too. After too much time the same message gets old. Gotta rebuild while winning and build a team for a deep run. The packers could learn a lot from what the Brewers have don't the last couple years.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the pigskin brother!

happening tribe, hope you all are enjoying the fall so far and the switch back to standard time
i get up super early most days, so it was nice to get up this morning and see a little light in the sky
what a fun weekend of good football and great food
friday we went to my buddies house for dinner
they had a pot luck at his work so he had this big tray full of left over yellow rice and shrimp that he brought
me and the mrs enjoyed it so much we ended up making our own this weekend
we put a ton of shrimp in it plus a seafood medley of clams, squid and stuff like that
it was super good and the mrs and our girl couldent get enough of it
even i went back for seconds and im not that big a seafood eater
we will definitely be making it again
we took the shrimp shells and boiled them down into a broth with lime, mint and seasonings; kind of like a thai soup
the shrimp taste was a little too big for me but the mrs and girl loved it with rice noodles and veggies
its getting to the time of year where we will be making a lot of soups and crock pot dishes
were you able to spend any time in the kitchen fiddy?
so how is the wetting agent working out for you? do you notice any difference in growth so far?
i wonder what is in it? could you list the ingredients
/is it the wet betty one from adv. nutes?
most of the seeds have thrown tails and im putting them into RR cubes today
out of the three bunches almost all of the seeds have sprouted and im hoping to find a keeper or two in the mix
how are things coming along in the indoor grow, brother?
are you still looking at taking some plants down soon? how did the ones you put outdoors at your friends place turn out?
the pack is coming off their second loss in a row after loosing to ne on sunday night
they are still a tough team , but the rams are red hot (even after loosing to the saints) and new england is always tough in foxborough
still have a lot of football left in the regular season and lets hope the pack' turns their season around; but at this point i think you guys are looking at a wild card spot

hope everyone is starting off their week on the right foot and enjoying the time change
even tho it feels like spring time outside here in socal(its in the mid70s right now), its time to start planning the thanksgiving menu

Good afternoon pop_rocks.

Not sure about you but my weekend went way too fast. I did get some rest on Sunday and watched more football that I've seen in a while. It was cold, windy and rainy so not much else to do. We were thinking of going surfing but the waves were way too big and it would have been too dangerous. Reports were that the waves were starting to break allmost a mile out and comming in one right after another.
That's great thet you had an excellent dinner at your buddies house and it inspired you to recreate the meal. I love to cook things by flavor memory that have impressed me. Yes for sure this time of year is nice for making warm meals of comfort food. The crockpot always gets a great workout starting this month untill spring gets here. There is something so nice about comming home from work when you've had a nice pot roast in the oven or crock all day. The house smells great and the food always tast so good after extended cooking. I didn't cook a lot this weekend but I did make chilli and cornbread for Sunday's games.
Wetting agent is working good. It's called coco wet I'll check ingredients when I get home. I'm glad that your seeds have all popped. You should have your hands full for a while with the three bunches of seedlings. I hope you find something special.
It will be interisting to see what the pack does the rest of the season. I don't think they are playing that bad the last couple weeks, just not quite good enough. They haven't had a deep run in the playoffs for a few years and I think they need a change in direction, leadership and schemes.

im only sprouting a few of the fruity jack but they are a feminized line so i figure the genetics would be pretty locked down
the one im really excited about is the cindy99X
im going all in with about a dozen or so of these seeds hoping to find something really nice
so far they look good showing nice germination rate
ill be sure to keep you updated on their progress

that sounds like the surf was really heavy fiddy
wow, a mile out; at that point you would be better off taking a boat to the line up
you are so right about the smell of good food cooking is the best welcome home
chili and corn bread sounds awesome! i am a big fan of corn bread and love a good chili
what are your plans for thanksgiving?

Good evening pop_rocks.

Sounds like your going to have a full tent for sure brother. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope you get plenty of lady's from the c99 cross.

Surf was unsurfable so to speak. Some people were at the beach but couldn't get out, my buddy was watching them and said as soon as people got over their heads the waves just pushed them back in. I was thinking that getting a jetski or boat ride out would be a great idea. Not sure if it would be possable to surf the same wave for a mile or not but it sounds like fun. Waves on Lake Michigan are 100% dependent on wind and it was blowing like crazy yesterday.
I just got a text from my aunt that she is doing thanksgiving at her house again this year so that's where I'll find myself. Her husband does a great job with the turkey on the Webber grill and we always have all the fixings. I will have to think of something good to bring this year.

Here is a pic of the coco wet wetting agent. It's active ingredient is cocodiethanolamide. It's coconut fat made into soap I guess. I just looked and it's known to the state of California to cause cancer, but isn't everything?

Update and pics

Greetings friends.

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekends and your weeks are off to a good start.

I just ant to do a quick update as it's been a while since the last. It will be harvest time soon and the granola funks are just about ready. I've got 2 clones of each of the two seed plants. The 2 phenos are quite diffrent from each other, at least the structure and how they grew. Here is a couple buds from the two diffrent plants side by side for comparison.

The one on the right is the taller pheno with much longer node spacing. It was a faster grower in veg and through the streach. She is a floppy lady and needs a lot of support.
The plant on the left stays nice and short with good tight spacing. She is bushy and branchy. She needs hardly any support and might be carrying more weight than her taller sister. I love the fall colors on her too.

Here are a few more of the tent as a whole and the shorter girl.

hey fiddy, did you notice how dark it is outside?!
/loves standard time!
im hoping i get a few keepers from the bunch too
the fruity jack should be pretty straight foreward but im very interested in the mkpn
i have 7 of them in the rooters as we speak and a few late bloomer seeds still soaking in water
lets hope out of the 7 i find something nice
thanks for posting the toxic pic of the contents of your wetting agent;like i thought it uses a soap as the surfactant
that would be some sweet action getting towed by jet ski into a wave
how big were these monsters? i bet there is a bunch of people who have been surfing that spot for ages who could tell you stories about the really big ones!
man you make some awesome recipes and there are some many good choices of things you could bring

just saw your new post
oh wow man, those plants look nice! really like the side by side picture fiddy
i dig the darker of the two and short and dense is always a good trait in my book
but the real test is in the smoking, have you clipped any sample buds yet?
love the whole tent picture, looks like you will be smoking good this holiday season
keep on kicking ass brother!

Looking good Fiddy
Is that run with the Rock Powders added? I'm interested to see if the terps change for you when you up the gypsum and lime. I picked up a bottle of non ionic surfactant too. I had to get it from a nursery supply, when I asked at the grow store the guy just said whut. I am using it on my new batch of peat and perlite trying to make my own version of promix. I got a deal on some old bales of peat so why not try. I'm going back to the 25% Happy Frog mix and kicking the horse compost into the outdoor garden. It was just too hot for sativa. I'm saving that hot mix for a run of longbottom by skunk as they love it. Bangi not so much going with a lighter mix for them. The Acapulco tolerated it with only some burnt tips but dark for a sat.
I brought in an open flame propane space heater to compensate for the loss of my HPS ballast. I plan to get one up by mid December when the cold weather comes and more clones will be ready. For now the walmart LED's are doing fine just not much heat. The lbl x skunk I have in there I've done a few times under HPS and she looks as good if not better under the LED's.
Peace Bro:tiphat:

I chopped a few of the early Oaxacans here's a shot of the ones still going

Greetings friends.

@pop_rocks. The problem with standard time here is that it's dark at like 5pm here now, and will be dark at 4:30 by December. I could get use to that or daylight time but the switch makes it seem weird. Leave it at one or the other is what I'm hoping.
I'm thinking that 7 is a lucky number and 7 seedlings might be just your luck to find something very special. Are all 7 the non fem seeds? Keep us posted for sure brother.
The waves were about 15 footers. They don't get much bigger very often around these parts. I've heard that there are spots on Lake Superior that gets a lot over 20'. It's very interesting to talk to other surfers here because it's such a tight group. Probably less that 100 people lake surf on this side of the lake.
Yes for sure I have hopes that the dark short pheno is the one that will finally be a keeper. I have tossed out all the other GF moms so this is the last hope for this batch. I didn't like they way they grew and none were special. I haven't sampled so we won't know for a couple weeks or so how the flavor is on the #6, which is the short stacked girl. Time will tell. Thanks for the kind words brother!

@Rodehazrd. No rock powders in this run but they will be in the next. I've got some conflicting info on how much to use and weather the powders will affect my soil pH but I'm going to start with mostly gypsum and some SRP and go easy on the lime. For Mg I might have to folar with Epsom. I'm going to start slow and then add amendments and compost and see wher I get. It would be easer for me to switch styles if I wasn't getting some good results with my currant methods. It will be a journey.
It sounds like you are getting diffrent soil mixed dialed in for diffrent strains. You are an inspiration to me to follow your path tward a more natural method. That heater should help add some co2 to your grow environment as well, right? I'm glad thet th LEDs are doing a good job for you. The ox is getting a serious fade going and looks very interesting.

Hey Fiddy,
IMHO I think its hard to have too much lime. If you read some Tiedjens its a cheap source of calcium and it won't push you above ph 7 in the amount budrunner uses. I suggest adding more gyp if you don't use the lime to get the calcium up to 80% base saturation.
Or do just one plant and see if it matters to your mix.:tiphat:

trying just one plant is a good idea rode
that way you can see if it really works and dial in your mix before committing a whole grow
are you adding the space heater to raise the temp or to augment the ambient c02 levels?
either way its a win/win and you can go wrong adding in c02
what are your temps like right now rode?
how cold does your seasonal low get?
how much longer are you letting those sativas go for? looks like you already have a nice fade and i hope they are kicking some nice smells.

its about the same here fiddy, dark around 5ish or so
in some ways i like it because we will start riding the bikes after work at some point but it sucks not seeing the sun all day
its time to hunker down and start dressing warm and getting used to it always being dark and cold
i bet the local surfing community is really tight over there, i mean how many guys are hard core enough to surf when the temps drop
is there much summer time action or is it mostly a winter thing?
i learned a lot from a friend up north about surfing cold water, suiting up before you get to the beach, bringing warm water and a change of clothes, stuff like that
hope you are able to enjoy a few more sessions of fun surf
it sounds like you get some nice waves on those lakes and a 20' wave is insane no matter where it is
i hope your gal is a keeper, so far she sounds great
short and stocky are two good traits, how would you describe the smell?
hope you enjoy the smoke

hope the rest of you guys are having a great week and enjoying a smooth transition to standard time

Hey Pop
Those fan leaves on the tops just turned brown and fell off the earlier pheno's I never had that before when trich's were still clear. There's not much smell either the drying buds still smell like hay. It think a good sweat cure will bring something out like it did the Bangi. It keeps getting sweeter and more potent as it ages I will run her outside again for sure using fem seeds next time. I have a pretty good size LBL in wk 4 and she's starting to smell very nice. Its a good feeling to look at a hybrid I feel is doing well and dialed in among the abused Oaxacan's.
I am heavily insulated indoor and my temps have been in the 60's to 70's without heat during this warm spell the led's do give some heat. I plan to fire up the heater before friday's cold front hits again. I used it a lot last year even with the HPS going I like keeping temps in the 80's with the propane and the Co2 sure must help some. I looked at the propane co2 generators and it looks just like an open flame. I don't vent much or bring in much fresh air in the winter but the plants don't seem to miss it with the flame going. I read that propane puts out a lot of water vapor but I can't see it on my meter.
Try to stay warm out there I know you don't get much low temps but its all relative to what you're used to.:tiphat:
