I have installed and rode many of sidecars, they aren't bad if properly setup. Still handle and steer like a trike though. It's that third wheel that makes bars shake under 20mph or so

Trikes are harder to ride. Newer trikes handle way better. Older ones are like cars with no power steering and take more upper body strength to steer at low speeds

your right , this thing handles like a truck . but its not to bad . they do make the 7degree rake tripple trees for mine & i'm looking into getting them . its supposed to make it handle alot better ..... time will tell .
its alot shorter than the triglides too i noticed , almost a foot & a half shorter .
but i have no complaints what so ever with her !!! she runs exceptional for a 30 year old bike ! had to rebuild the carb & rejet it , but other than that , shes been a dream to ride !

shes still put away for the winter ...... waiting on the damn weather to cooperate & get nice enough to ride soon !!!

Rode yesterday, something hit my radiator or something came lose and started losing coolant and as that happened the rain started but was less than a mile away so got home. Haven't had a chance to investigate with the rain, killing me to not know what broke. Snowing now and I'm just like, "Come on, give me an hour!"

Sunny and 66 tomorrow but no bike stores open for parts :).

And the best sunny day is the day you can't actually find any leaks on the bike nor any fluids low. Attributing the previous 'leak' to riding in the rain and rainwater/crap from the roads getting up onto the bike and steaming off in 45F weather :).

This did drive me to install the new radiator guard though.

Weather’s tuning up nicely. Finally putting some miles on my ride again.

dropped a new battery in mine , got a new stereo installed . checked the plugs , she seems to be running a little rich , so i've got my buddy coming up to do some more fine tuning , gonna go get new plugs tomorrow , ordered all my Amsoil fluids . hopefully by next week some time the weather will cooperate long enough to get a good ride in .....

Gear oil isn't due but oil is. Mobil 1. I've got to clean out the garage and get er up on the lift for oil and a clean up. The Harley oil filter is tough to do without a mess.

Rich can be a problem. Valves get hot and there's decell popping. If you know carbs it's not bad. If you don't..... I never got past lawn tractor on carbs.

Dan .... I'd ride that for a few hundred miles with some fresh gas in before altering the carbs

i know enough to be dangerous  but my buddy did the rebuild & rejetted it the begining of last season , he wanted to see the plugs & do some fine tuning before this season starts . it ran great all last year , no real clouds of smoke or even acted like it was running rich , so it can't be to far off .

Rich mixture runs cooler than stock, it also deposits carbon on the exhaust valve and smokes

Weak mixture runs hot and leaves the valves white, until they overheat and crack ...popping on the overrun is usually an exhaust leak if running stock mixture settings

Since your buddy rebuilt it presumably he has all the new settings to compare with stock

You must be pretty close to having it dialed in. For me it's the plugs and the exhaust smell to know if it's rich. The HD fuel injection is awesome. Hard to believe how well it starts and idles cold. I did a stage 2, used an S&S pipe and put an auto tuner on.
