http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zl4yqQqV5lM

* All one can say is whew!...try playing this piece early in the morning , lol,
toally beautiful song/melody /work...a way to go to Spain without actually being there <g

I've seen Tony play live with Vai. Tony plays MAD guitar and MAD keyboard. Download his "Maximum Security" album.... Full neoclassical madness.

As for solos:

*Echoes - Joe Satriani (Surfing with the Alien)
*Shattered - Pantera (Cowboys From Hell)
*I can't Hide - Pantera (bonus track on some CD)
*Woodstock Improvisation - Jimi Hendrix (Fuc ken love the mad runs with that bend at the top.... creative c unt he was...)
*Bark at the Moon - Ozzy Osbourne (I'm pretty sure its Randy Rhoads, blonde hair in the film clip)
*High Speed Dirt - Megadeth (Countdown to extinction) <--- A few solos, a mad clean tone one first....
*Skin o' my teeth - Megadeth (Countdown to extinction) <-- ****en sick thrash song.
*A Tout Le Monde - Megadeth (Youthanasia>?)
*Dark Star - The Grateful Dead (Live/Dead)
*Sultans of swing - Dire Straits
*The Audience is listening - Steve Vai (Passion and Warfare)
*All the guitarists in the Buena Vista Social Club band.... including Ry Cooder...Mad bastards.... all of them... and this psycho lad with a like 17 string guitarish contraption, who goes OFF! **** Malmsteen, the fat ****, this lad rips all over him for speed.
*On that note, i've lost my Malmsteen CDs, but there was this solo he played on "Blitzkrieg" on this intructional video, utter madness and oh so many right notes.
*Arise - Sepultura (the solo with two sections to it.... still makes the hair on the backof my neck stand up....)
*Eminence front - the who (the intro solo , well theres only one really)
*Why does it hurt when i pee - Frank Zappa (intro solo) Could be better, and there would BE better, but i'veonly heard a few songs...
*Dream Theater - Metropoliss 2000: scenes from a memory.... (WHOLE ALBUM) many sick solos dripping with feeling...

As for riffs to CRUNCH to:

*Anything by Pantera, but heres some favs:
-The Art of Shredding -->listen to it, you'll know which riff i mean.... **** its hard to play up to speed.
-Living Through Me -->chorus and the verse
-the underground in america/sandblasted skin --> tuned down way low... but rips hard.
-Where you come from
-Primal Concrete Sledge
-Domination

Megadeth --> Dave makes up SICK riffs, endlessly
-Rust in peace...polaris
-Tornado of souls
-skino my teeth
-holy wars...the punishment due --> intro and the interludey "they killed my wifeand my baby...with hopes to enslave me" bit. love the riff.
-No more mr nice guy (alice cooper song, haven't heard the original)

man, i'm tired.... i could go on for days.... i'll leave it at this.

I'd upload some of my shit but i don't have the power, captain.

fellow guitar player...playing for 20 years now come to think of it( man makes me sound old lol) grew up listening to elvis ,some real nice clean guitar playing a lot of it by scotty moore....sorta help my interest and with what was herd on the radio early 80's and a fasination with guitar from an early age where ever it came from?

found bonjovi on there slippery when wet album..living on a prayer music clip..WOW i wana be a rock star!!!....plus turned out ritchie sambora is dam good guitar player too.seen them a few times live...growing up they were my favortite band that i still hold plenty of respect for.

metalica...was pretty big and couldnt help getting into them...seen them live a couple times too....dont think they were into the show....would have liked to see them before the justice album.

think i found hendrix next stoned by myself in a mates back seat of his car with a walkman...with the coner stones best of album...man it blew my mind....had no idea a guitar could sound like that....

...then the same mate got me into some more good stuff...van halen !! farrr out hes good and plays with so much ease....sorta use to piss me off i could never be that good.....seen them on the VH 3 tour ehhhh somthing atleased ...hope there comming to australaia this tour mmmmmm.

from there got into some metal /death /tharash

then just explored who ever was good from the past to now...

so cant really pick a solo...a hendrix or VH album are full of them...

but for a laugh...scatter brains "dont call me dude" hahaha that solo in the bar(i always piture the music clip when the songs on)...gets me playing air guitar and making all the faces hahahaha i love it ...chessy indeed.HH. =]-~

I was going to add that....he has a couple piano pieces on a couple releases, and, I mean,...as a player? (guitar)....astounding, of course..(like more in that genre...), but, I was absolutely blown away at his piano pieces (Chopin?, others?) .....(To anyone who has never heard....astounding....could put it down and pick up as a concert pianist. You know...not unusual for a lot of players to be well versed on several instruments, but, not at that level....at all...(Most guitar players reading this, others will know....Most guitar players fairly talented on bass, maybe some other stringed instruments, maybe some keyboard talent....lot of people drums, etc, but, again.....rarely does any one individual cross several instruments at the same level.........Al another guy who played with a lot of people, etc, Vai played on some things also with him I think....)

I was heavily into that group (of guys) at the time...(The MIT/GIT/Berkley(sp? lee?) guys...all on each others stuff....Tony also did work for a couple others, some cool solos (keyboards) on Vinnie Moore's stuff I believe...they all played on each others stuff if one looks at all the line ups....

This is the only Tony piano piece I could find, but, good example..

But, you know...always on the topic of guitar playing, people tend to focus on execution and overlook composition......(especially lot of young players, and, those who aren't really serious players...(and, when I say serious, I'm talking those who dismiss players outside their adopted genre's, or things which they themselves could never execute......which is common, and, the young comment was geared towards guys who seem to learn to execute something flawlessly and think that places them anywhere near the original players level..........ie: I can do an Yngwie or Jason Becker song , so, I'm as good as they are.......)

Some of the most influential players in the history of music have not even come close to being "the best", or anywhere near what a talented player would.....

Case in point:
Was talking to a friend this week about "the old days".....and, Maiden, a perfect example....(When Bruce first joined, they were touring heavily, and, me and this guy must have seen them, literally 20 times that year...they were opening for everyone, everywhere.......so....and, the guy sent me a couple of vids he found from then (like, 82'-83', all old vids....)

Of course, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith by no means come anywhere near anyone mentioned..(Vai,Satriani,Yngwie,Becker,Rusty, etc, etc, etc...any of the more recognized players...) but, I mean.....have worked on and created some of the most incredible stuff in history of rock..(I was blown away watching the stuff from 82-83........was astounding...they still are today but I think a lot taken them for granted.....)

Note: I might get flamed a little from non players and not serious players....whatever...I'm unbiased.......

Jimmy Page my all time favorite example...I mean....guy completely sucked most of the time (sloppy playing, drunk, etc...same with Ritchie Blackmore, etc....same thing, but, not as influential on the direction of music as Page...)

I mean....what single player (besides Hendrix) has influenced guitar players as much as Jimmy Page......literally changing the history of music and the future of music and guitar playing......

(Alex Lifeson another perfect example.......I mean...said himself one time after hearing Yngwie, he wanted to quit and throw guitar out the window....but, no one can deny, again......what he contributed to music.......again...literally changing history..establishing history, etc......some of the most incredible compositions ever released........

Then you have people that come closer to their own legend.....when I saw title the first thing I thought was "solo?....the entire Strangers in the Night album :biglaugh:

Not to offend or upset (or argue), but, then you have guys like Kerry King and Jeff who, again...I mean....both just rhythm players.....but, again....look at what they have done (and, Slayer btw has been around now like...****...30yrs?....)

Note: I'm of the circles and group, etc, where around that time I/we knew all those guys personally...Metallica slept on our floor when they were making rounds for Kill Em All...place they played was like probably 50 people in whole place.....when all of those guys wre just coming up...Anthrax, etc, etc, Slayer...all new, all very cool guys...etc.....no money or fame yet...just ****in guys...

I always laughed (still do) when you say something like "Al DiMeola" etc, and "guitar players" are like "who"? :biglaugh: ( a must for any player seeking enlightenment..although they get a little silly in places......a "classic" for any player of almost any genre......)

Then you got guys like Angus Young...who almost any 12 yr old could play his whole catalog blindfolded....:biglaugh: (literally.....) But, again...I mean...no one reasonable and rational could argue the influence on the history of music and all players......

Instrumentals mentioned above...and, of course, that's where one will truly find "the best" players, but, of course, go to any show by any of them (except for the chosen few)...and you'll find only a handful of people, because of course that genre is by players for players....(That's what I'm into..I have a couple releases in that area, etc.....but....no money in that for the most part...)

But, again...while these people would be considered truly among the best in the world by their peers...I mean...what will they ever do to influence the masses....or change the history of music like many above.....(They won't because unless your a player seeking it, you'll never hear their names, and, like Tony...I mean....most dismiss it (causal listener...not a player), as "fast stuff"...(and include such things as "fast, speed, no feeling, etc", when of course silly things to say....has actually been said about Jason Beckers Perpetual Burn ......which many still consider the absolute essential work...few ever touching it..(composed and performed all by himself when 16-17-18 .......today still timeless.....can't be dated really by listening.....) I mean...****...what?...it's like 25yrs old and you still have people trying to play it today! :biglaugh: (Again....you will have people pleased with themselves for being able to play a passage correctly....they're grow a couple inches, but, unable to play through a whole song, let alone the whole album, let alone compose and perform such a work.....) In case any are unaware....now is is stuck with composing things one note at a time with his eyes(literally, unable to move, composes with software by movement of his eyes...)......so...again......composition...execution...etc.....

(I actually remember the first time I bought that.....was when it came out...etc....popped it in...turned it on...got about 2 minutes into it...turned it off...took a deep breath and was like "holy ****in shit.....I'm going to burn one and settle in and restart now that I know what it is :biglaugh:.......

Now....I think that's why I still do and will always consider him one of the best in the history of the world........you can play?.....you can write?....fine, great.....try and compose a work and a full release like this one note at a time!!! when you have lost the ability to move or speak..........I mean...(and, we're talking every note, all instruments, one at a time......astounding..beyond astounding....surpassing "gifted"....the true meaning....the amount of work that would take......beyond comprehension.....composed all with his eye movement .......what can ya say? :biglaugh:......His story-explanation....very sad....

You know......I think....name any player who exists......who is considered top of their game...anyone..take their movement and speech, (even help to breathe) and, let's see if they can continue the same :smoke:...blows me away still :smoke: Truly......I think he would have truly changed the world of music (has on player level....not mainstream though....) One of only vids around when younger, mediocre quality... couple guitar clinic vids and private spliced.

Serrana an impressive classic.,then,
Little more....., then, ...a little more, and then, And then a funny step by step, and then, a funny over/under Eddie tap-Hot for Teacher....

I've always considered him one of the most gifted artists in the history of man from what I know....(complex pieces one note at a time from eye movement....)

(Of course, now I get a kick out of a whole new generation, with full ability and movement trying to play and figure out the movement of one without any....even the vid....at times looks like Mike (Lee Firkins) is having a litle trouble playing it :biglaugh:...)

Note to old and new fans: He's actually doing quite well going to be a Morley Jason Becker Wah pedal, and, says a movie about him coming out eventually(already?) and all guitars made for the character (Fender and Charvel) going to end up production models for sale, etc....merch for sale on site...instructional stuff, etc...

Just sayin :biglaugh: topic which gets me :biglaugh:.....just wanted to add a little something :biglaugh:

I once knew a guy who played college ball (basketball) and was 7ft...and, I was like "dude....wtf.....why aren't you in the NBA man..your height alone"....Guy tells me "Dude....you'd be surprised...even the guys who never play, on the bench are ****in awesome players :smoke:...so...
