Start learning how to build, cook, forage, hunt and whatever else you think can be helpful in a survival situation. Knowledge of these things will be what determines who survives and who doesn't when/if shit hits the fan.

possession & use of a cast net would be useful if near any bodies of water. screw sitting around waiting for a bite...:)

Sounds like you are in a better place than most. A handgun would be a good addition for self defense.
Are you with Family or alone?
I would be so deep into my own head if I was alone.
We all need interaction with good positive people in our lives. Pray, give thanks and try to accept the things you have no control over. Be prepared and always keep your tools on you.

Maybe check out Senior Dating sites. Find a partner and then rescue a few large breed dogs. I recommend German Shepard or German Shepard Mix Breed.

Quoted are the ravings of a right wing lunatic who probably lives in an Australian city.

Out here in the bush the Apocalypse is already with us. Most of the mammals are almost gone from drought. Haven't heard or seen a Koala for years. YEARS!

Only the birds are doing ok except the ground nesters who were eaten by domestic cats gone wild.

On the other hand I 've got a good sun tan now ...

Is that right, ya mad lefty flog

Just happen to live in the country, no shortage of anything here
hardly stopped raining the last 4 months, were not all in drought
we butcher our own meat, grow fruit/veggies

lots of dead mammals on the side of the road, around here,
you could probably get a good feed

Australia is a bloody big place, maybe you should move.
90% of the place is a fucking desert, you might want to pick a bit more careful next time, like somewhere it rains occasionally

or you could always piss off back home

:)

No me and the wife are here with custody granddaughter who is soon leaving to join armed forces...pray for her.
I have considered both getting a handgun and a big black rescue dog.

I live close to a metro area of a million people. My neighbors are fun people who practice their full auto rifles every weekend. It will get bad if things go down.
Weird ass weather makes it hard to grow food. Our may and June were torrential rains that flooded our soil and depleted nutrients..onions and potatoes rotted in the ground. Then the 106 degree heat with nightie time temps in the 90s Tomatoes wouldn ripen and lettuce bolted. I can survive I'm sure but it's not gonna be as easy and some seem to think. It sounds like finding easy calories like turnips and squash is not enough. I have studied this and lived in the country my whole life. This climate has changed. Our country is changing and getting more divided and violent. Our police are going militaristic. We are in deep shit. Socialism or not we need both collective action and individual responsibility. That's all I'm going to say about that.

I woke up this morning with a new feeling...and wondering at what point do I need to do something?
Let me explain...the Amazon so burning, my country is ruled by a madman, the election will cause widespread animosity if not conflict regardless of the results...I'm surrounded by people with assault rifles, mass shootings a a daily occurrence...do I need to be worried?

If we're going to worry, worry accurately I figure.

The deliberate burning of the Amazon & the additional damage from mercury based gold mining ... people got to make a living.

The oil industry in Brazil hasn't been doing so well.

The population is hurting, one step away from Venezuela and Argentina.

Economic desperation is in the air.

It's not exactly good news, but I've been reading more about rocket mass heaters & their technology.

Most forest fires don't burn completely - you can get additional energy by burning the smoke - under the right conditions.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/amazon...ffer-from-g-7-nations-fight-amazon-wildfires/

They're up to 3500 square miles, 2.3 million acres.

I don't know how that compares to other years.

Read that acres burned in Alaska is 2.5 million so far this year.

In Russia, they were up to 12 million acres a few days ago and that's going to keep increasing because the Russia policy is to let wildfires in Siberia burn, most of the time.

That all sounds pretty bad. We have seen worse. Russia burned 47 million acres in 2003. I'm sure the locals noticed but other than that you didn't hear much about it.

I think it's important not to mix metaphors too much.

wildfires related to economic desperation, localized extreme heating, and CO2 providing bounty crops of dry grass ... maybe what that has in common with the mass shootings is the economic desperation part.

Hey, St P ... what I was wondering was how come the Amazon has got dry enough to burn?

There must have been untold clearing that has gone unreported ... over many years.

Time slips by. We chip away at things a little at a time. A cleared acre here, a cleared 50 acres there. Suddenly there's catastrophe.

And no time to get to the Space ships ...

(And the Europeans think money to assist Brazillians to plant trees will get us out of the poo.)
