Well, I'm glad we've cleared all that up...I have killed a deer, I clubbed it to death and to be honest, it was bloody hard work!
OK - tomorrow's the day - first planting. All the ladies are ready to go - taped up to stop them falling out if they tip over in the bag. We've had a lot of rain over the last few days, and it's really warm, so there's no better time to do it. I've got some horticultural-grade sharp grit sand that I'm taking up - it makes a pretty good slug barrier, but even better, is exactly the same shade of brown as the dead bracken, so once the plants are in, a dusting of this all round makes them almost disappear.
I also found some Miracle-Gro organic food granules for not much money, of which I'll add a little when I plant them, and also some water-retaining crystals too. Even better, I found some organic-safe slug pellets, which are also safe for children and pets, which means I can scatter a few around without giving the deer a tummy-ache, which would really bother me.
So - all being well, I'll report on my return, hopefully with a picture or two.
