right im just saying for a damn fact the la kush is not jayP's as you had alluded to earlier. notso has the jayp its not the jayp

theres clearly no way for me to know but I can almost assuredly say THE REAL sour is not being sold by some genetics place

they're just cut sluts whoring out heritage for cash

Wasn't alluding to anything.
I believe TRS is the cut I used to run.
Others told me it's the JayP... Was just saying... If I'm wrong, cool. 👍

I’m struggling to keep my ECSD happy. It seems like a mag deficiency that has improved slightly since a couple foliars, but it’s still growing with a slight canoe. Temps do not exceed 75 and my light is dialed back with PPFD around 550 so I don’t think it’s environmental related. Lower growth is mostly nice and dark green. I took three cuts a couple days ago off the bottom and they looked perfect. If it were a mag deficiency I’d expect the lower leaves to be the worst. I might grow each cutting a different way- one in coco, one with soluble nutes, one in a new soil mix. I need to figure out what she’s missing. My other plants in this same coot mix are not having this issue.

Have you scoped for mites?

Can we talk about the morphology and lineage of this plant a bit?
Does anyone have examples/pictures/guesses of the original building blocks that brought her into existence?
From my limited experiences and picture gocking on here. We have some bulbous stubby WLD leaves on a sparse whimsical NLD frame. And she likes a minimum of 11 weeks of flower right. And it's a bit finicky.
pretty significant stretch and floppy buds.
Do you guys think this was from an old seed line back in the day or do you think some privateer developed it on his/her own.
Maybe I'm looking for an origin story? I tend to enjoy that part of the story better than which cut is which.
An attempt to steer the conversation. Godspeed

Adam Dunn has a couple shows on YouTube where he goes through the history with the crew who “found” sour diesel. It was an accidental pollination in a room with Chem and a Hawaiian. Could just be Chem x Chem self pollination. I tend to think the lanky floppy structure comes from the Hawaiian, but who knows for sure.

I had a similar issue that ive since started to remedy while not as extreme as yours
first off. sours a fuckin hoss really hit her especially with the LED's, im running led's as well
also you need to up mag even more then you already have too with led's and upping phos more then normal won't hurt as well or at least that's started to work for me quite dramatically. epsom salt foliar 1/4 tsp dont turn down the lights turn up da nutes

and on the case of morphology midwestkid I can only offer examples of the ecsd and my cut of old sour for now
both the leaf below and the leaf above are the old sour, the plant behind the deficiency pic is also the old sour
the 7 finger leaf below is a newer leaf, they def are stockier then the other cuts but clearly change all thru out the plant
on that note does anyone else sour throw 7's? this ones been impeccably maintained for over 22 years and I can't speak to who had it before that.
also that's not PM its sulfur a fuckin idiot sent me bugs a year back just due diligence

all "old sours"

and as far as what's in the make up of sour its total speculation and theres no way of knowing, some think rfk/dnl, some say self, I dont think we will ever actually know. it was all happy accidents
I do have DNL x DNL/Super SK made by JJ in 05 ill be popping at some point out of curiosity he said like a year back he was going to work them for sale but not sure where he's at with that. the DNL/SS I believe is what made DDNL and other stuff that has made its way around a bit

Really appreciate the tips. I’ll keep up the epsom foliars. Maybe some langbeinite would help increase K along with providing some magnesium too? Are you growing in soil? I’ve been growing organically, but I am considering trying her with synthetic nutrients. Seeing how no one was running organically 25 years ago when this cut came out..

it’s been really frustrating since the other plants in my tent look great, and the sour is the only plant I really care deeply about. Hoping some more sprays and some K turn her around. I did just grab cuts off the lowers that all look perfect so I will try to get ahead of this whole magnesium thing next cycle.

really appreciate your reply!

I cannot edit yet. I see you said phos not potassium. I just did a foliar of Epsom and sprinkled a couple tablespoons of dominate line to bring up ph a touch and also supply some mag/cal. Fingers crossed. Thanks again for the help. I got this cut from the upstate NY crew and mine was also held by a single family since 2001. I’ve chatted with a grower in San Diego who grabbed the same cutting and he’s already flowered her out and confirmed this is the old school “pre-ecsd” cut that belonged to Mike Klopp. I’ve been wanting this cut for a long time and was recently gifted to me so I hope I can hold this down and my cuts root so I can get it into the hands of a better grower. I feel like I’m holding Excalibur, lol.

pre ecsd would just be original diesel lol

The guy who gifted the cutting to me says he has 3 different phenos of sour including the AJ, ECSD and one from Albany, NY. He believes AJs and ECSD are completely different phenos. He thinks the Albany and ECSD are the same but the Albany cut does not have the variegation of the ECSD. He said the cutting was held in a room for 21 years and it’s a cleaner version of the original. Who the hell knows. I wish I wouldn’t have mentioned it. There is already enough unneeded confusion around this plant!

My cut is starting to look a little better and I just noticed a 7 leaf on some new growth. Hoping my cuts root soon so I can flip these girls and start passing out cuts to some friends.

Anyone ever get hints of a sour diesel smelling bush?

I always get whiffs of sour as I walk past this particular type of plant...today I was walking past a house and they were planting some fresh ones in the yard...So I got to see the retail store label on the plant.

Its called a boxwood. Has anyone else ever noticed this smell from it?

I know I cant be the only one...
