yo E.B. lookin good there, garden looks great.
we do the same thing with the cages, train, bend, and basically LST our way through them to make a robust plant. im about to put my 2nd cages on this week. we use 4-8' bamboo and 2 masonry stakes 3-4' to anchor them down. it really doesn't need em after it grows through. the 8' just gives it something stable and allows an anchor for the trellis net later. i usually anchor 2 of the four 8' bamboo with 5' t-post just outside the pots.
on the og/fuel note. i have found that as long as you look to seed for the fuel smell you generally wont find it unless you make it yourself. sour-d, og cut onlys will not pass on the fuel smell unless the male carries the same fuel genes. swerves tahoe seeds, no fuel. somas nyc deisel, no fuel. even res's bx like crazy for 7 generations sours pale in comparison to the original cuts. there is good reason for this in the genetics.
the dutch didnt like that smell...they bred it out. for over20 yrs... much of the seed stock here from the 80's on has/shares dutch genetics. so how do you get that boy that has the genes? you have to find un-adultered afghans, pakis, and such from non-holland stock. where can you find this? over seas, or here...in cali..usa..period...
my barker valley deisel started as a cross between
bubba-platnum kush -x- underdawg og-sourd
a four way kush but no fuel in the progeny..period i tried bxing to the sour d.. no fuel...used the stinkiest so-hum o.g.... still no fuel...about 6 yrs ago the owner of my local collective gifted me some original afghani, and some paki's.. his son was military.. brought them back personally. i crossed them, liked what i saw, and pulled a boy from the F-1, and crossed it with the kushy mess i started above... all of a sudden, coffee, fuel, hashy-inscence, all came through the progeny. i try to use BVD boys whos stems reak of fuel to cross with. i have fuel in over 60% of the progeny to this day.
so a long and expensive lesson learned for me was, no matter how you try sometimes the original cut only is precious..almost perfect.. to try to chase her by watering down the genetics didnt work in my experience.
last year i crossed a chem-x-gsc(forum) i love it. its great.but none are the same as both parents they are blends or "hybrids" of the true passing traits of the parents...
i love my barker valley deisel... so i guess another lesson i learned is it never hurts to roll the dice. im running a Pinya-x-B.V.D. and its 50% fuel on the progeny.. so it breeds true now...
your shit looks great I love the garden.
