The Durban is a pure sativa, it´s been never hybridized with skunk or other strain, at least not by Sensiseeds. I´ve got this info straight from the source and i believe it to be true.
Durban Poison, from Dutch Passion seed co., has skunk on it, and so have other Durbans in the market, the one from Sensiseeds claims to be the only pure and original one.
Interesting info Amstony. I definately found quite a bit of variation in my sensi Durban. Out of two female plants, both are excellent, but very different from eachother. That report was pretty harsh towards sensi. In my experience, the sensi seeds Durban was the superior seed stock, although not what I would consider a pure strain based on the variation in smell and bud structure. Will have to wait and see how the Dutch Passion version finishes up.
In South Africa Durban is grown extensively accross a wide region and there are many versions out there. The strain would vary depending on where the seeds are collected.
The plant was leaning over today due to its excessively heavy colas. I supported it by tying it to stakes from 4 sides at ten points. Its like a twist tie support matrix.
looks great in the outdoors there ezra... the durban is really nice head smoke, an what a taste mmmm i can almost sense the anise on my palette again. definitely hafta stake em up or somethin! well keep it up man, doin nice 'work' there here's a shot of some a few years ago done organically indoors... i had accidentally let them get to over 8' wooops...
KingRalph -
looks very nice and resinous there. How was the stretch on 12/12? How long did they go? I have two cuttings which are vegging indoors right now. They are going into my cab along with some 007 freebies very soon.
an ooh veggin some indoors nice... the stretch was meeeean to me hehe i let em veg too long an they stretched 2-3x so flower those puppies at around a foot tall. also they're not as quick as they led on ta be, or at least i wanted to let em go for a while, around 10 weeks and they were still VERY heady. before that i imagine woulda been ridiculously racy, too much for me. check the trichs out at 9 weeks so where they stand here's what i let happen to mine...
KingRalph - whoa, those look very tall there, specially growing from those small pots. Good info on the stretch and flower time. Which seedbank or breeder were yours from?
Awesome fucken buds ezra I just got some freebies from gypsy too its dpXsK#1 from sam the skunk man anyways Im gonna do a outdoor grow this year so Ill keep you updated later in the season. Oh and how did you get your plants to bud so early in the season or do you live in australia or somethin?
I had to decapitate the Durban today. We have been having quite a pit of rain in the last week or two and I noticed a very slight bud-rot starting on a couple of the large colas. I decided to harvest all the main colas a little early as I dont like the idea of loosing these to the bud-rot. Luckily, the damage is minimal and the buds would have been ready to harvest soon anyway, so I am not really cut up about it.
The rest of the plant is still goling strong and the lower buds are maturing well. The worst thing is that I wont be able to take any more nice photos of the live plant. Its just not as photogenic anymore. Oh well nothing is forever I guess...sob.
here are a few shots of the harvested buds. I took off the 6 main heads and a couple of smaller branches which looked like they might break. The main colas are about the width of a coke can.
good thinkin choppin the main colas and leavin the rest to mature more- thats what i did when i harvested my passion#1 last winter- worked well for me.
thanks for the props gnosis. That is also my favourite picture, definately my best work to date. I would be honoured if someone nominated that picture for the "pic of the week" competition.
PS I like that username - gnosis = esoteric wisdom
