Alright guys I've got something to look at... I noticed another plant (this is out of about 35, most plants appear healthy although a bit 'off') going sort of downhill... check the base, same squishy, ugly material. Sacrificed this plant, scraped off some of the outer layer, and scoped with my USB scope.
Sorry for the shaky video quality, I had to hold the stalk and USB scope at the same time to get these fuckers visible.
And no, I'm not talking about the young springtail roaming around... Look closely for the wormlike critters slithering around the top middle-ish and top right.
Again, sorry for the poor quality, I'm working to get a better angle and something a bit more still.

Also, they appear to be only near the base. When I measure scale with the measuring tool with the scope, the appear to be about 1mm in length.
I noticed some strange red blotches on some of the roots near the base also, I'll try to get a pic of that.
Here is another video. Seems they die rather quickly when exposed to atmosphere. It was moving around a bit when I first located it, and once I started recording the movement slowed, then stopped.
If you notice in the first video, you can see one quite clearly that also is yellowish on one end and whiteish on the other. Again, using the measuring 'points' with the scope, I'd estimate about 1mm if straightened.

Certainly looks like a different creature than what whatthe215 posted...
