***DrBud Takes CFL SOG to the Next Level***

PC fans are crap at sucking air through a restriction. However there are high power 120x38mm pc fans which are somewhat better than 25mm thick varieties. Also, with a CFL grow done right, temperatures shouldn't be that much of an issue, as long as you have enough airflow to keep the plants with a nice supply of co2.

There are also a few tricks you can do with pc fans to make them better for the job in hand. For a micro grow, PC fans RULE because they're so easy to work with, quiet, etc. With the correct fan setup I am sure a really good extraction array can be made with them. I wouldn't want to use them with a big shop bought carbon filter on a big HPS grow but for micro growing, I, as someone who has used PC fans against restrictions for many years reckon they're what we need. DO get the big ones though people, 8cm ones are useless for anything other than intake.

At some point in the future I am going to post a thread with my design for a decent flowing extraction system using PC fans.

try clonex gel or olivias clone gel, gels are better then powder as powder comes off in water gels adhears to the plant and prevent stems from dryn out keeps them wet longer.

Keeping the stems wet is not always a good thing. The owner of a hydro shop explained to me that most people put too much powder on the stems. The powder forms a damp cake around the stem and can lead to stem rot before the roots pop. he recommended a perfume atomizer to lightly dust the stem. You don't need a lot of powder.

I forget the thread, but DrBud once mentioned that he sometimes uses "willow water" to provide the rooting hormones needed. That's an old bonzai cloning technique using willow branches soaked in water. The stems are then dipped in the water just like a cloning gel. Something to try if you don't have any cloning powder or gel--and there's some willow trees nearby!

yea i'm learning wet stems for clones are very bad, i wasn't adding enough perlite to my rooting substrate and kept losing clones to stem rot due to all the wet vermiculite, i do not use any powders or hormone

Dr Bud - I have a cab that measures 46" X 20" X 53" inside dimensions.

A little bigger than your setup, but would it lend itself to your style of growing??

How many CF lights would you put in it??

Hey I'm working on a few strains at the moment would you like to grow some out when I get them stable??? I'm crossing Afiskan Thunder Goo(AlaskanThunderFuck x Afgooey) with Purple Urkel(the real shit from Humbolt) I think it's going to be some super frosty grape like with a hint of goo mmmmm I can't wait to get it going but yea let me know if youre interested...

Binary - To get them like that you need to find the plants sweet spot IE the right height to induce flowering and it will grow into the lovely Budsicle like those above...

I have an easy question for DrBudGreengenes. In your original cfl thread you advised to place the oldest plants to the outside when using a 1000 HID and it appears that in your CFL grows the oldest plants are directly under the CFL's. Could you please explain?

Hey Doc I have a question, my cab is 26 1/2" wide 17 1/2"deep and 37"tall .. I'm trying my hardest to get my box like yours are but I noticed you only have about 26 inches of height so my question is when I buy cleats should I just mount them at 24 inches and make a clone shelf above???? Also in your opinion if this was the box you had to work with how many 42 watters would you put in it???

Those are reveg'd. Flower from small clones=Budsicle. Flower from reveg=bushier but higher yield.
