re: Dr. B:

Interesting rule of thumb.

Is this because there is some kind of ecological balance within the water shared with the organic material? I'm not getting this. My knowledge of permaculture is limited.

Mother Earth is set-up that way....thru evolution....she takes care of the strong...the rest are Compost :rasta:

For those of you reading this thread...I have been following the good Dr's grow method with superb results. Once I figured out how to avoid over watering, I have had happy green plants.

But I have one serious problem... MALES!

I have been trying to grow out two strains from High Grade seeds, and have had a 100% germination/survival rate. But I am 3 for 14 (with two hermies) when it comes to producing females. Finally I have three non hermied ladies, and have 9 clones rooting from these moms, so I am finally going to end up with budz. But geez...

So my question for Dr Bud & those with experience....

Am I doing something wrong? :spank:
Are the seeds suspect? :fsu:
Am I just super unlucky? :weakestli
Do the MJ gods think I am gay? :bis:
What the hell?

about that clones...

about that clones...

hi, nice to stop by! would be bothering asking for some knowledge?so dont worrie on continue reading that! cause thats all what it is!If ok: you see: my cuts were healthy, I put all(about 30 cuts) under 2 tubes of 15watters each, covered the place with a white plastic thing, intending to build a closed for humidity, light(dark ones), oround what is a greenhouse. water 2x a day, some on cups w/ coco coir, others like yours on bottles, than covered with its head(other part of the cut on its bottle)...
all died with no roots....is that something you could help me get those roots developing?

other stuff, see:

I got other mistake this weak, let a flowering plant dry, I cut those very dried skiny buds(like crystalized, pressing it, it poudering) and put on water to clean it...at least trying to clean its buds, cause gave day before cut a fertilizer...so trying to salt out it ...after I will cure, cure those for few days cause its buds are not good flavored, yet its already dried, its plant was in need of water and all that lamps were still burning fluor, thats the cause of the dried buds...smoke a few...thc less, not good flvored at all...its a california orange bud.The plant still get some branchs developing possible flower...I left the flowers less dried, and with green little leaves...gonna force it to get some better smoke. remembering, I think the high it gives is too low, pics of what I cut, going in water:

the cuts were possibly cali-o too and maybe other strain, was 2 plants.
Those are the cloned ones that |I couldnt feet its roots development...it was 18 on/6 off those 2 15watts dark lights all on coco...

2 pix of 1 plant I got those cuts I told you. dead clones.gave few of a hormone from the store near here.left on water few days, than put root hormone on that water, after on the coco, than water and hormone (gave 2 times after being on the coco - the hormone)
just to talk!
thanx - bye from Brazil

wsalesw....

Do you have Perlite in Brazil? If you do you could try this.....
it is made from a bed of perlite in any clear/opaque container that seals.
soak the perlite....
pour off the excess water....leaving 1/2"(inch) of water under the perlite...
Press the perlite down firmly...and make lil' holes in it about 1-1.5" apart...
Make yur' cut and dip in whatever you use .....
put it in the hole and press perlite up around it...
Repeat til box is full...
Seal it up and don't touch it for 2 dayz...
after 2 days open it up 1 or 2 times per day....for a week or so then start lifting the top a lil' bit each day til it is off....
When they show a lil' new growth ....pot'em up.....

heres is a try at it in Spanish.....

That's a great and easy way to clone - I'm still not sure if I like this or jiffys the best.
1 thing to be careful with is how much water the perlite contains. If there is any standing water touching the clones then they don't like it at all and can rot petty fast.
I mix perlite and potting soil 50/50 - it gives you a few extra days before you have to repot just in case you get lazy checking the roots or something:) An alternative might be a very mild nute solution instead of water when you can see that they're building some serious callus and perhaps shooting out the first small roots. (I always pull a few up to check on them every other day when I'm getting close to 1 week - might not be such a good idea but sometimes I can't help it, haha)
I also seem to have the best results with sligthly larger clones - they have more reserves just in case the rooting is slower than expected.
As always with clones make sure their feet are not cold - it seriously prolongs the rooting.
If some of these are ugly then it's because they're taken in flower. They aren't really the size I want them to be but still I only lost 1 or 2:

Sorry to talk to you about something way off topic but ive been reading up on your thread and on GC you said.

Haze x NL#5.. started at 1" and finished 21 weeks later at 28-30"'s

Now only reason I bother you about this is I wanted to know being I am thinking of using the strain in the same fashion as you are, and that sounds pretty crazy. Granted ive never finished a grow as they have been all males.

Sorry again for the dumb question.

Keep trying! It took me more then 10 seedlings to get to my first female. But now I have her and a few girlfriends in flower, with a batch of little sisters in the clone box.

30 days or so to harvest!

Good luck to you. I just chopped down a two month old male that refused to show its sex until now.

i agree blackone. this method does seem pretty user friendly so far. less messy than the peat pellets... we shall see in 2-3 weeks...

i am running dr's method side by side with the peat method to see which works best in my situation.

Dr Bud thank you so much!!! I have a successful set up thanks to you and have some Alaskan Thunderfuck and some Big Bud and my question is. I have 8000 lumens per square foot in a cab with 3.5 sq ft total and only 3 plants in 2 liter bottles but I am going SOG as soon as these are reveged and give up some cuts just wanted to know what you thought about 8000 lumens per sq ft and you fucking rock bro HID's are a thing of the past... :joint:

Paging Dr. Bud Greengenes.... 28 grams of Dank! STAT!!!

You are the F'ing KING of the CFL grows my friend... A few of my first grows were in a rubbermaid CFL box...I used 2 Liter bottles to fit about 6-8 plants per run, but never got anything looking as dense and yeilding like yours.

If I didnt know it was CFL, Id say those were grown under HPS...great job at finding a strain that works for your set-up and dialing it in so perfectly. I may eventually have to go back a small-scale Microgrow and will try your methods if that day ever comes...

Amazing work!
