DJ Short grow'n'show. BB/Flo/Azure Haze

I have several packs of DJ short gear I will be sprouting and showcasing in this thread. As of right now I have a bunch of Blueberry, Azure Haze and Flo beans but will keep my eye out for any others that pop up and add them to the mix if they do.

For those wondering where I got them. They came from a California Dispensary and were $100+tax per pack of 10 seeds. (pics to follow soon) IMO a very fair price. Already about 30 seeds deep and they have a great germ rate. Feeling grateful I didn't have to mess with the mail order trip and could get fresh properly handled seeds....

Mainly searching for male breeding stock, and hoping to find phenos heavy in Purple Thai and or Highland Oaxaca Gold traits. If found, these would be out-crossed with several prized females in my garden....

As far as females go. I was just gonna collect all the good phenos and go from there. Looking for quality resin with good effect and nice terpenes as my main traits for keeper status. Not concerned with yield or mutants. I can always out cross for other traits later if needed....

These are very interesting and unique plants and any knowledge about phenos you have found is welcome here. Hope we can benefit and grow in understanding from each others findings.

Feel free to post pics here and share your findings on any of your DJ short gear. Talking with other growers has been a great help for me to narrow down my search for various phenos. It gives me an idea of where to look for specific traits.

AlessOnFire, DJ Short has apparently been personally dropping small batches of seeds at a few California Medical Dispensaries as recently as a few weeks ago. So far I have seen Blueberry, Flo, Whitaker Blues, Vanilla Luna, Azure Haze and Cacao Kush.
They are never in stock for long though.

From what I have gathered reading the boards here, getting viable legitimate DJ short beans in Europe seems to be a pain in the ass if not impossible.

Love dj's work, imo some of the best breeding stock in the world.
Getting through what I've gathered depends on what projects I'm working on at the time but been considering strting some the grape krush.
Considered strting the vanilluna n cocoa kush too but rather just have 'em ready when I get back to the chocolate n vanilla projects to strt 'em with everything else on hand from those projects.

Will keep n eye out n see how you get on with 'em, good luck with 'em, n have fun.

I had to wait for several months in '13 for new stock to come in when I purchased my DJ Shorts Blueberry from the UK (Nobody'sNursery has kindly identified this version as being the f5).

I bought a number of strains over a period of about six months from the UK. I dealt with two companies. One was top rate in every respect. Customer service, stealth packaging/success rate, prices - everything was good. But they don't carry DJ Short's strains.

The other company wasn't so great, but they carry DJ's Blueberry and I'd been chasing it all over the world for some time. I ordered various beans in about four different lots with this company and two shipments didn't make it. The BB was in my last order and it's fair to say I was riding that package all the way from the store to my mail box.

Out of all the strains I purchased it was DJ's BB I sought the most and it's the one I am most eagerly looking forward to growing out in coming grows now that I have my new grow space dialed in.

I''ll be a grow behind you, so I'll be following this thread with great interest.

No offense, Genghis or Petey either, but seedsman.com or any overseas bank are not truly a legit distributor of DJ short gear, so there isn't any guarantee in it's authenticity. In general, buyers gotta be more canny about their purchases.

Only certain medical states at select shops carry gear delivered by either DJ or JD themselves. I am sure of this because the dispensary in Eugene I frequent has them in stock right now.

Seedsman is very legit. They don't sell fake gear.

I would not buy from a bank that doesn't give credit or profit back to the breeder, and can't guarantee there product's authenticity. Not cool imho.

The way that I interpret this is that since they are going through a 3rd party they cannot be confirmed. This does not mean they are fake from Seedsman, just that DJ can't confirm them.
Seedsman disclaimer is for legal reasons. In Europe seeds can only be sold as souvenirs and the guarantee concerns what's in the pack. They are not responsible because they are a distributor and not the breeder.
As far as paying DJ, how could they if they can't purchase them from him?
One thing to keep in mind is that DJ can't sell seeds overseas, as shipping seeds is against federal law. They must go through a 3rd party and are therefor not confirmable.

Personally, I have had nothing but good experiences from Seedsman, and I have faith in them.
In fact, I'm just about to make another order from them that includes the F13 strain. If they are fake I will know when I grow them out, since DJ's gear is pretty unique.

To each his own and I don't blame anybody for being suspicious.

I obtained mine from Attitude. I'm confident they are the real deal because they were out of stock for ages which ties in with a couple of other providers having none around that time also.

Anyway, I hope you're wrong but I'm sure to find out soon. Half a pack of what I believe to be DJ's Blueberry F5 seeds are going in tomorrow morning alongside two packets of Northern Lights (one each of Sensi and BC Seed Company).

4'x4' F&D tray, clay pebbles, hydro using Canna nutes and Zyme, Adjustawing Avenger Medium, 600W digital MH and HPS (1000W HPS if required).

I'm expecting just half of the beans to sprout because some other beans I bought from the UK at the same time had very poor germination rates. But the DJ's should have been fresh when I got them because it was new stock and I know for a fact that I keep my beans in ideal conditions (I'm getting 95-98% germination rates on beans I made almost five years ago).

I'm hoping to find two mothers, one NL for night time smoke and a BB for daytime. I'll grow out the other half pack of Blueberry alongside any clones I take from this seed run. If I get four or five females all up I'm pretty sure I'll find a decent mother, DJ has a great reputation for consistency.

If in a couple of weeks my DJ'S Blueberry isn't acting like they should be according to this thread I'll know I've been had. Until then I'm allowing myself to be excited!

Well, my DJ Short Blueberry beans from Attitude Seedbank ain't the real thing.

I paid close enough to $200 for ten of them. I threw 5 in, 4 popped but only two came up out of the grow wool cubes I put them in.

I did have an issue with cold that affected some other beans I put in, so I'm not condemning them on this factor alone but the two that came up have not recovered along with the others since being under the lamp in warm and (relatively) humid conditions.

The Sensi Northern Lights and British Colombia Northern Lights #5 and World of Seeds Afghan Kush seedlings I have (three of each and a fourth of the BC NL #5) are doing very nicely after five or six days under MH lighting, temps in the high 70's and RH at 60-70%.

But these fake DJS Blueberry beans are terribly unimpressive individuals, look nothing alike (I'd expect some consistency in an F5) and are unlikely to live much longer, I couldn't be bothered with them.
