DESTROYER on Ice - 250CMH Freezer Grow

So when you are scrogging do you need to take growth tips out of certain squares and move them to ones that are further away, is that the idea? or you just let it do its thing?

The plastic mesh I use is stronger and tighter (1 inch squares) than most. As a result, it forms something of a barrier that 4 inch openings with string can't provide. Anything that pokes through gets poked back under. It grows out to the next square and I poke it back again. Once flowers start to cluster, I let them up through the screen and trim off anything underneath. The under-ScROG area can become a moisture trap and a breeding ground for mold.

With wider openings and weaker screen material, you'd probably have to do some tying. While I found Super-Cropping to be rather useless above screen, it's worked really well below screen as the screen itself prevents it from straightening out.

Oh this strain sounds so very nice. I can't remember the last time I had a racy high. Now that I think of it... high school, that was the last time.

As soon as I accrue enough hands on this will be my first high quality seed. As for now it's nothing but bag-seed, bag-seed I say (heavy on the indica too). Couch-lock for me.

Freeze, looked in my res, about the dead roots, they are REALLY brown and dead, but the other plants done seem to be affected by it. But i'm sure you are theorizing correctly that its probably not a desirable situation.

I'm not sure what you mean about scrogging, I think I understand the part about your scrog, but not what you are saying about bigger scrogs, and i'm unfamilliar with the term super cropping. Maybe you can rephrase it if you dont mind?

I was referring to the size of the mesh and thickness of material. People make them from all kinds of things so there's no real standard. Comparatively speaking, most screens are open air with bits of thin string. Mine is a wall, a solid plate of plastic with the occasional small hole. It forms an actual barrier the plant has to fight through. If I poke the plant under, it can't come back up unless it grows outwards to a new hole. With a 4 inch string mesh, the plant comes right back up the same hole. There's no barrier to force it into horizontal growth. You have to tie to or weave through the screen.

Super-Cropping is another form of LST and canopy control. Crush the stem between thumb and forefinger, rotate grip 90º and crush again, fold the stem over. My Thunks just laughed and straightened up in a few hours. However, when folded under the screen, they're trapped. They can't straighten, nor can they turn up without growing outward first. When they do poke up, I poke them back under the wall and it's back to horizontal growth.

okay, i gotcha, but with a 4" scrog, or like a 2" cant you just keep moving the branches to squres that are further out? push em back down, and up through the next square?

Hi FB! Shes looking great!!! Love the thin sativa leaves, really a big difference compared to the fat leaves of the GovermentMule I've got going!!!

Shes realy starting to fill out the screen nicely! Excellent choice of net material and good decription of how it keeps the plant under until it hits a new opening! I sure hope you find the buzz your looking for with strain!

I'l be looking forward to seeing those nugs devolope Bro...Don

Absolutely. It's just that with a more open mesh, if the plant has to grow 4 inches to make the next hole, you'll have to wait for the plant to grow 5 inches through the screen before poking it under does any good. Unless of course you tie and or super crop.

ScROG is new to me. Sativas are new to me. Growing in a freezer is new to me.
This thread is fascinating and I'm going to subscribe just as soon as I work out how to.

Keep on keeping on, FreezerBoy!

Hey Sun, welcome aboard.

The only thing I can take credit for is the freezer. DWC, ScROG, CMH, seed banks, I stole from IC. For 14 years I was thrilled with my garden and then I saw the NGB cab and realized my grows were sad and puny. Before IC, I measured colas against my thumb, now I measure against my forearm. You're gonna love it here.

Oh yeah. Thread subscriptions are under "Thread Tools" in the toolbar under any given thread's title.

wow man, very cool! and the story about your roomie, man,
you must have been sweatin', lol. glad you skated!

anyway, i've just finished reading through this thread, and subscribing,
so now i have to go read through your other threads, lol.

really man, thanks for sharing your progress, guys like you are the reason
i don't have to buy weed any more. now all i need is some quality genetics!

btw, have you ever grown any PPP? i recently sent a money order for some
beans and, like you, i'm looking for a strain i can get shit done with to go
with a strain that will knock me on my tail.

i ordered AK-47, White Rhino and PPP from marijuana-seeds.nl and i chose the
PPP 'cause i've heard good things plus, it is described as giving a 'strong, up
social' buzz. i sure hope so, lol, shit man, i hope they come, my first order,
from the boutique, got lost in the shuffle.

anyway, thanks again man, if my beans come, i'll start a thread for each strain
as i start it so you can come by and tell all that i'm doin' wrong, lol.

btw, here's a couple pics of my little bubble cloner, i use pipe wrap insulation
cut into 1 inch pieces to hold the cuts and with room to hold 18.

edit: 'You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to FreezerBoy again.'

how was that 24 plant sog work out? im thinking about 20 for my 250hps
I loved SOG and used it with Rockwool and E&F for years. Once I saw root porn, I was doomed. Had I multiple strains of interest, I'd probably still be doing it but, I'm still in search of my keeper and sativa's love to stretch. Had I not cropped, I may have had room for two this time. I quess that would be a pOG or puddle of Green.

Toniath, your wish is my command o lord of the sun.

Welcome Mr Bozo, love the eye-patch. R. Thanks for the kind words. Without being a broken record, I've learned so much here and our hobby, being what it is, doesn't allow me to play those people back. Proud as I am of Shed, I think my best contributions have been honestly reporting screwups. Failure is a great teacher.

I feel old ... I've no idea what PPP is.

And now ... Weekend Update

The screen may get filled after all. Jo's really starting to pump out. Possibly because of being a big eater. Wilma was happy with so little I've been raising Jo's EC levels slowly. I'm up to 1.7 and she still wants more. I'll give her a couple more weeks before pollinating a smaller branch.

Now that it strikes me I feel like a big skinny doofus. I should've marked the floor to allow accurate tripod placement. I could've done a nice "time lapse" video on the screen ... d'oh!

i agree wholeheartedly that the best way we can pay it back is
to freely give to others what was freely given to us.

still.

kudos to you for sharing.

as to PPP, heres a link and the description at nirvana. if you go there
you will find 15 reviews as well. to me, it sounds great.

actually, it doesn't sound like it will fill the bill for you though.

the link to Nirvana is here and the list of reviews is here.

Pure Power Plant is a strong mostly sativa variety developed in the late 90’s from South African strains. The tremendous growth potential of this plant is a prime example of hybrid vigor. PPP is the latest trend among Dutch commercial growers because of its high yields of the highest priced buds. Pure Power Plant has a pleasant, almost pine, after taste and a powerful social buzz.

Plant type: Best suitable for outdoor growing.
Plant height: Medium- Indica/Sativa mix
Stoned or high?: Stoney yet high- Allround Buzz
THC level: Strong 15-20%
Flowering Weeks: 8/10
Yield (Sea of Green on one m2) : 400-500
Harvest Month: 9/10
Grow difficulty: Moderate

Thanks for the review. For years I grew what I was lucky enough to scrounge and took what I could get. The idea of seed banks ...? What a concept. A little of this, a pinch of that. Hope PPP works out for you.

i'm tired of mid-grade bagbeans.
