More details in this thread here: here.
I read the description of this strain and instantly figured I would want to grow it out, I think I'm definitely going to have to give it a go. Loving those roots and all that stretch. Good thread, I like what you're doing here.
Featuring The Attack of the Spindle Tops! Some of the side shoots are still in stretch mode. Part of me wants to top rather than bend. Topping seems so much easier but all it did to Wilma was piss her off and make her stretch more and faster.
Po, po, freezer. Gots too much weed. Whatever shall he do?
Blurred as it is, heres one of the pollenated buds. Hairs seem to be dying. Hadn't noticed it live but, here in replay, that looks like my leaves have some trichs. Woo hoo!
Lookin' fantastic, fb! I'd perused an older thread of yours once upon a time when I was but a starry-eyed IC newb - Great to see how your setup has progressed!
I also see that you're an "active" Sativa fan like myself; Have you looked into F-13 at all? All the descriptions I've read of it seem to put it square-on with the motivational high I so desire.. On that same note, does anyone know of any other similar strains that could use a test run? I've got seed monies burning a hole in my pocket!
Good news, bad news. Well, inevitable news anyway.
First the good. Garden fills nicely. The spindletops were too bare to keep so I cut them. Jo doesn't seem to mind like Wilma did. So far so good. Trichs are starting to show and seeds are forming as well.
The inevitable is, Shed's inside door panel is disintegrating after 15 years under HID. Started to pull it and the underlying insulation only to find it blew my stealth by causing the sealing strip to glow in the dark (I run the lamp at night) It's covered with paper for tonight. I'll do a temp patch, probably with foam core, tomorrow. I want to ponder this. Shed came pre-sealed so I've never really thought much on the subject.
Positive side effect, now that the door shelves are gone, I can rotate the hood 90º, allowing the lamps natural footprint to match the direction of my screen.
hey dude, just lettin' ya know i'm still lurkin' n' learnin', lol
btw, awesome root-porn ya got there my friend! truely beautiful,
healthy growth structure.
sorry to hear about the prob with Shed but i have every confidence
you'll find a solution.
anyway, i just wanted to say thanks again for sharing your work and
your willingness to answer all questions, no matter how simple they may
be.
and you deserve the kudos you get man! for real! you deserve it 'cause you are the one that was motivated enough to not just come here and
ask simple questions, instead you took the time to really know.
then you did the next right thing and you documented your work and you
shared it here with us, so we can learn from you man, from your success'
as well as your difficulties.
Weekend Update or The Waiting is the Hardest Part.
Theoretically there's still a month to go. Topped spindles are well behaved. A couple of stems in the hotspot stretched a bit so I tied them down.
A Trich shot and a close up on seed swollen calyxes.
Caught my first whiff of weed in the garage, so I built a lightweight ghetto filter. I'm loathe to fire up the Elicent again. Forgot bolts of sufficient length so, it's back to Home Depot tomorrow.
Built a DIY OdorSock. Forgot to take pictures but, it's based on Treetop's Filter (post #5). Its a 4" duct cap, a 4" duct sleeve (from dryer parts area of HD) a cylinder made of machine cloth, wrapped in carbon filter and air filter pads (from heating section of HD) and good ol' duct tape. A dryer vent hood attaches filter to the fan
My screws were too short for the whole job, to go through both fan holes and the freezer (the old setup, fan was attached to vent hood. Vent hood was attached to cab) Amusing Murphy no end, they were too long for half the job. So I hacksawed the screws and cleaned up the threads so they'd fit inside the "H" shaped housing.
Fan housing was not designed for nuts on the inside. They'd fit but couldn't turn. Again with the hacksaw and files.
Even with my freakishly long arms, I couldn't wrap myself around the freezer to get to the screws inside. I taped the screws in the holes from behind, slid on the fan, screwed on the nuts finger tight. I then fit a wrench to the nuts, taped the wrench to the cab and turned the screws from behind. With fan secured to the cab, the vent hood is attached to the fan. Duct tape covers flange holes from the great Inline Debacle of aught eight.
Filter slides into vent hood sleeve. Secured in back by duct tape and in front with cable ties. Ghetto to be sure but, if I'm going to be harvesting mid January (knock on wood) it only has to last 3 weeks. The remaining pads will last me trough to the end.
Fan sounds the same. Still feels like good airflow. Just checked the cab after it's been shut for an hour. Top of cab 80º, canopy 67º.
