Derailed Blues: a Comparison, In North America

Thank you, your praise is much appreciated.

When we discussed the plan for a comparison grow, the best way to compare them was their eye candy appeal. That is my entry. :D

A more subjective comparison is the quality of the smoke. Two buds were quickly dried and one has been sampled. Still very green, it has potency in spades.

You've set some pretty high standards stoner. It will be tough to match such a beautiful budshot! :chin:

But as they say: "It's not over until the fat lady sings"

Tipping your hand now, forces me to let my plants endure a mild frost come fall and hold off harvesting until Indian Summer arrives.:smoker:

97 days until harvest!

enjoy

HOLY SHEEPPOOP BATMAN! Is that pic from a magizine? WOW! To hell with pretty in pink! Thats F'n awsome!! Hi CS, ND, and BC, Hope all is still going well.
Just a little update on the LR...it got about 14-16" tall and is still flowering, about four weeks into it now. Seperated 1 plant for seeds, should get about 100+ from the looks of things. I'm quite suprised to see how full those little gals get with buds. They are kind of cute. It would be the perfect plant to put between the tomatoes in the yard!
Gotta run take care-have a care!

My DB's are coming along nicely. I clearly have two different phenos, which is perfect for comparing them.

I'll guess this pic favors the Blue Mystic

This plant has Sativa overtones and is already over 7 feet tall. With almost 3 months left to grow, this one could turn into a monster as it fills in.

Enjoy and stay safe

Wow, is that a 5 gallon pail for scale. :D

Sorry to say, my Derailed Blues regeneration is not looking healthy. It will continue to get perfect conditions, but a couple of the LUI's are rebounding nicely. :D

I'm waiting to see what happens with my lone LUI F2. It seems to be frozen in time.

If you remember, this was the seed that was coaxed into germination by splitting the seed hull.....adverse effects?

It appears healthy just growing slowly, so I don't want to treat it for any deficiencies....maybe the extra water and full dose of nutes will coax it along.

What a difference a few weeks make!

Both of my DB phenos are enjoying the extreme heat, high humidity and weekly showers provided by Mother Nature.

The plants on the left are over 10 ft tall, the shorter DB is over 6ft.

It appears they have been growing an average of one foot per week since my last visit in July. At this rate I'll be curious to see how tall they get when they start to stretch and flower over the next couple of months. :chin:

Even my little LUI is showing signs of improvement

enjoy and stay safe

The little one, only six feet tall. :D

Huge would be my best guess on the ten footer.

Good news on the regeneration front, the DB has a couple of growing tops now. I should be back for another round in the Fall.

Good to see you around stoner. I was beginning to wonder if you were okay.

Good to hear your DB revegged, how was the smoke from that beautiful gal?

I can't believe the difference in all three of my DB's....one small.....and two that are just growing through the roof.

I'm glad I didn't attempt those in the backyard this season....the commercial planes coming into the airport would have been able to see them!

I also need to improve the quality of my pictures.

enjoy and stay safe

Note: I haven't given up on your LUI yet.....amber trichomes if I have to!

Damn, 10' tall? I'll have to rethink my growsite for next year for them then.

My Derailed Blues tends toward the Indica side, very similar to my LUIs overall. The buds are leafy and heavily covered in tricromes. Smoke is medium potency, again very similar to the LUI, or maybe it's just me. :pointlaug

I am really hoping you see a good result with that LUI f2. My single plant was a disappointment during flowering. The lack of large bulbous tricromes is evident, and the smoke was low in potency. On the plus side, it contributed to some fine baked goods. :D

Summer is low key time for me. I didn't set out any full sized plants for security reasons, same thing for keeping them low and concealed through Labor Day.

Deft, my last visit was on the 4th of Aug. I hadn't seen any flowers yet but I am sure the gals have started by now. My next visit is planned in about a week.

hopefully I'll have lots of pics of tiny little pistils by then.

good luck

So, no updates? I have a lot of seed and want to know if this is a deecent strain for growing outside next year.

My Derailed Blues are alive and well as of 9/9/06.

They were a few weeks into budding at the begining of the month and I suspect they should be close to harvest the first or second week in Oct.

I'll be checking trichome color on the next visit.

Any finished product pics or smoke reports? I was gifted a bunch of DB seeds and right now they are going to be the majority of my plants next season as they are what I have in quantity right now, everything else is odds and ends under 5 seeds for each strain.

I got some of these beans from a good dude in Ontario. I sprouted only three, and one female emerged. Here in central Minnesota, the plant (started May 1), was mostly finished in the first week of October.

Thank goodness I have more of these seeds, because that strain is among the best I have grown (thirty years of bagseed, then about 25 different strains since the late 1990's.

Buds are completely gorgeous...a mingling of blue, red and green. Smell is strong, sweet, almost like a perfume. Smells exactly like a plant I grew out of Marc Emery's outdoor mix from a few year back, which is not helpful, since most people don't care to read about him and I don't know the strain.

Part head high, part stone....very strong pot indeed. It is changing in the cure...twice recently I have been overwhelmed by the potency, and I have had a spell or two of paranoia, but that's what you young people are after.

Next year I breed it so I have it forever...quite the keeper DB is.
