Deep Stoner Thoughts

So in the interim, while I await our collective karma where environmental chaos is concerned, or wait for one of these crazy mofos to obliterate us with a wall of nuclear-bomb-generated flame and the follow-up of radioactive mutation, I'll live as realistically conscientiously as possible, flip the bastards the bird when ever offered the opportunity, and hope to be swilling a LARGE shot of GOOD tequila, eating a minor amount of really good chow, inhaling a really good puff of awesome hash, and standing at Ground Zero when all that shit occurs.. as I wouldn't want to stay around for the dregs of existence that are apt to remain..

Just my take on where we've brought our sorry species and surrounding reality to at this point.

Acknowledge it, mourn for it, and party like there's no tomorrow...... as there may not be.

Yeah, sing the song, Bro

If the sun refuse to shine
I don't mind, I don't mind
If the mountains fell in the sea
let it be, it ain't me
Alright, 'cos I got my own world to look through
And I ain't gonna copy you

Now if 6 turned out to be 9
I don't mind, I don't mind
Alright, if all the hippies cut off all their hair
I don't care, I don't care
Dig, 'cos I got my own world to live through
And I ain't gonna copy you

White collared conservative flashing down the street

Pointing their plastic finger at me
They're hoping soon my kind will drop and die
But I'm gonna wave my freak flag high, high
Wave on, wave on
Fall mountains, just don't fall on me
Go ahead on Mr. Business man, you can't dress like me
Sing on Brother, play on drummer

Note: The above pictures aren't meant to signify the album the above referenced song came from I just think it's one of the coolest examples of cover art from Jimi's vast offering of albums :)

Jimi, 'Axis Bold as Love'. 'If 6 Was 9.'

It was 1972 or maybe 1973 when I got that Lp. Still have it.

Heard it again that year in a small movie theatre in Edinboro Pennsylvania, as part of the 'Easy Rider' soundtrack.

Left the theatre upset by the drama of the film, (and the real drama of the several years or decade preceding it), wanting to hunt red-necks.. Truly. Despite realizing the absence of peace and love in the sentiment.

But my favorite was 'Little Wing.' Sheer beauty!! Staggering, awe-inspiring for its time, and even now.

I can see my now-deceased younger brother in my mind's eye, sitting with his guitar teacher, holding his Fender guitar, and learning the chords and string-work to 'Little Wing.'

Early acid days, and lots of dreams. A greater sense of unity and reason or purpose gluing so many people together. .

We got derailed, compromised what shouldn't have been, sold out, and Jerry Ruben went to Wall St.

"And so it goes..."

Yeah to quote Archie Bunker from the All in the Family Theme Song - "Those were the Days" :)

Peace was inevitable, love was invincible, and red-necks and tyrants were frightened, worried, and, thus, sometimes violent. Fear does that to folks. ;^>)

Even Nixon was scared. ;^>)

I was a youngster, taken in under the informal protection of many an older traveler, having recently discovered the magic of the thumb as a ticket away from undesirable circumstances, kept safe, fed, warm, sometimes housed, and stoned by who-knows-how-many fellow transients; draft dodgers, resisters, hippie folk, and others.

There were times on the New York freeways where a NY State cop would simply pull up and down the on-ramp, telling varying numbers of hitch-hikers to "Stay behind the white line."

Young enough to not be feared or loathed by older conservative folks on the roads, and naïve and lost enough to be kept safe by my older more experienced fellow travelers.

The places a person could get with .35 cents in their pocket. Arriving fed, stoned, etc.

Acid was .50 cents to a buck a hit for 250 micrograms, maybe a buck-and-a-half for 1000 mic 4-way windowpane or blotter, and every '67 Mustang or VW van had some form of satisfactory head stash on-board.

There was little to no money issue for the most part, where getting high came into it.

Learned my compass by being threatened by a NY State cop who'd found me on the wrong side of the toll booth too many times in one shift. He told me if he found me where I didn't belong again, I was going to jail. Suddenly north, south, east, and west took on greater meaning than what otherwise put me to sleep in geography class; there were consequences to not understanding that stuff at that point. ;^>)

-That- in may ways, became my surrogate family, right up to being taken in by a Vietnam vet and his family in Northern Michigan in 1976, and working their relatively remote, off-grid, homestead farm until I moved to the Yukon Territory in 1977.

The death of that time brings grieving still. Seriously. We maybe had a chance to change some of the things we've been bantering about, and in the end, too many of us joined the Borg.

Take care, I'm off to cook dinner, and do some over-due chores. 4 inches of -wet- snow last night and this morning, followed by some wind today and this evening, leading to what may end up being power outages later. Nature's version of a one-two punch here.

"Was in another life time, one of toil and blood, blackness was a virtue, the road was full of mud. I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you, shelter from the storm..." (B. Dylan)

The long term future is a mash up of Idiocracy and 1984. "Ow, my balls" meets "He loved Big Brother". The boot on your face will likely be a big red clown shoe, but it'll be there regardless.

That is so true one of my brothers was as about as hardcore of a hippie as one could be, always ready to fight against "The Man" or "The Establishment" and yet somewhere in the 80's he suddenly gave up and ended up making a career for himself within the Military-Industrial Complex. It was quite shocking at how quickly he sold out on pretty much everything he used to believe in.

Had a partner decades ago who grew for many years. Many aspects of his life indicated he was 'karmically challenged.'

He repeatedly voted for Reagan-ites, etc.

I asked him one year, "Why do you keep voting for folks who want to take your home, impoverish your family, and either end or incarcerate you?"

He replied, "I'm not a single-issue voter."

I replied, "That's a pretty big issue."

Sometimes the things we humans do or say in seriousness would be better left to or categorized as tragic comedy. :)

We've been there for a while now.

How quickly we accepted the cyclone fencing of 'free speech zones.'

Our jobs now are to feed the GDP, pay the salaries and create or maintain the wealth for the ruling classes, and make sure we make no trouble for those who pretend to 'serve us.'

It's all about -their- convenience now, and has been for a long while.

I think it would be cool if Captcha

used pictures of Indica & Sativa buds

instead of cars and stores and street-signs.

"Pick every bud that could not possibly be blueberry"

"Pick every bud that shows signs of Haze like stretching"

Just logged into CL, more cars & stores & streetsigns.

it's said that the happiest people don't have the best of everything, it's just that they make the best of everything.......
