Deep Congo

back to the congo

back to the congo

hi folks,
Ponde, nice sounding projects.
My back to the congo project is coming along.
Have a new indoor location so am working on that.
My Deep Congo Bx1's are being upcanned today.
Interestingly in the backcross the big ass deep chunk leaves still predominate. We will see how it all turns out in the second backcross.
I still promise to get to posting pictures though in the meantime I have full confidence you folks can carry on in stellar fashion.

Sounds promising.
I saw a Deep Wreck thread witch also looked killer.
Are there more DC crosses by Richard Wiliams ?:thank you:

Looks like a nice yielder Tomfooler! Are those flowers dense?

Does anyone know what the flowering time on the original congo mother is? Could be some extreme sativa in the "back to the congo" when it finally comes out.

I've never met Tomfooler or seen those plants up close, but I can probably safely step out on a limb and say yes, those flowers are dense.

According to Richard Williams, the Congo #3 is 'remarkably fast' for a pure Sativa, finishing in 63 days. So I'd anticipate flowering times in that range. None of my Deep Congo phenotypes have ever needed more than 60 days to completely finish. The extinct A pheno was completely done in 53 days. The B phenotype that I mentioned in my previous post seems to finish in 60, and it is the most Congolese-leaning pheno I've encountered in the F1, both in stature and floral structure (at least from the few photos I've seen of the Congo #3).

Interestingly in the backcross the big ass deep chunk leaves still predominate.

That has been the main visual hallmark of all my dCon F1's - the Deep Chunk leaf. They all have the exact same thick, folded 'resin tacos' bursting out of the buds, no matter what the flower structure. This is the only Deep Chunk hybrid I've grown personally, but I've seen many grown here on IC, and they all have the same tacoed bract leaves in the F1. My F1 B pheno has an almost pure Sativa flower structure - long, running clusters of very slim and pointy buds gathered into bunches. But with big, fat, thick and ultra-resinous Afghani bracts busting out along the entire length. To my mind anyway, this is a very, very desirable trait and is something I intend to focus on in my breeding efforts with these genetics. I'm also going to get some pure Deep Chunk in the stable as soon as possible.

Sorry for the lack of photos, my photographer was busy during harvest and I had too much to do to take them myself.

Great observations re genetic traits ponde! I wish Tom hill was around to opine on this topic as he knows the deep chunk side so well. My deep Congo bx1s are vegged out quite nicely now and those most Congo lea ing phenos will be chosen for the second backcross, keep up the great work folks, cheers, Richard jr

Right on! Yeah I like them very much, love that deep purple color you got out of it. I grew 20 of these out this year and only had 2 even come close to that color you got. I'm glad you were able to grow and enjoy her :)

I struck out with my last few F1's. Still haven't found any seeds in the F3 I ran. Looks like I'll run more F3's in my next crop.
