Is it just easier to do one grow from start to finish in the one cab for you? Ive been doing that for quite some time also...only recently ive been thinking seriously about trying to get some sort of veg area happening... Are you going to organise a veg area too sometime or just leave things as they are?

Hi Leeroy, first off kudos to you for participating in the Halloween contest, double kudos for going out to buy the mask just to participate. I put my own "costume" pic in my thread, as there's nothing really "costumey" to it...I've decided I'm dressed as Keeper of the Weed LOL :D...we can call your own costume Diabolic Bud Dissector :D:D:D:D.

I do everything from start to finish in one cab for a few reasons. First off, I don't smoke so much that I need to have a continuous harvest type of thing going. Secondly, I don't have the space to do separate veg and flower chambers. There are a few more reasons but these are the main two.

Having two rooms would certainly make things easier for me as I always plant more than one strain, and with the varying time periods for different strains to reach sexual maturity (I wait for preflowers and alternate branching before flowering my plants), as well as the height differences and other factors I always have to get a bit creative to make everything go smoothly. Unless I move to a bigger house I don't think its going to happen...but then again, never say never ;)

Happy Halloween!

hehehe i like that title Blue :D

hahaha Diabolic bud dissector sounds like a great brand name for a bud grinder, we will probably see it for sale sometime soon lol

Totally understand about not needing a perpetual harvest too, im in the same boat as its only me and one friend who smokes but i smoke fairly heavily for both recreation and meds. 10 cones plus per day on a painfull day. On a good day maybe only 3-5 cones.

I also suffer from planting too many varieties at once lately, The MJ gods have made me vow to never go without good strains again and who am i to argue? hehe thats why i wanted more space lol im really liking having variety on the mj pallate instead of my usual bush indica's.

I like that you wait for alternating branches before forcing the sex to show. I do this also.

Imo alternating branches are a sign of sexual maturity on a natural time scale.
I just like to let my girls do their own thing :)

Do you think it might be possible to create a segregated cab actually inside your existing one?

Im thinking about a design for this lately... to house a second compartment in my flower cab....

Happy Day of the dead my friend :D

Leeroy, I've seen many cabs divided into flower chamber and veg chamber, IMO if you have the vertical space it can be done easily, check this out:
1562image.jpg
I got this image from an Italian growers manual (Cannabis Indoor - free press, no copyright). The bottom area is the clone and rooting area, minimum height is 1.64 feet. The middle area is the veg chamber, minimum height 3.28 feet to 4.92 feet, depending on the size of your lamp. Upper chamber is flower chamber, minimum height 6.5 feet. If your interested in more specs on this setup let me know, and I'll see to translating what I can for you. :canabis:

Your a gem, thats a pretty good darn estimate of what im looking at setting up.
Infact thats about perfect, thankyou very much :D

Its either that or the filling cabinet to match the wifes study desk.

Hmmm it keeps me tinkering about the place, got to love this hobby.
Thanks for helping me out Blue :) Youve given me food for thought.

WOW Leeroy, I have not checked the thread in a while and I come back and look what you have done. Very nice job. My cripplecreek never made it.But I still have some more cripplecreek seeds so its ok.I still have my two Galadriel (c99 x SourD) 1 blue Mystic,1mango and 1 g13 x hashplant. I finnally have some pics in my gallery.

Anyway very nice job Leeroy!

Aloha Blue, as the info on the page with the pic would be relevant to that particular design i would appreciate that translation very much, as you have noticed i only have online translation services and they can be comical and trivial sometimes :/

Gday Mike, good to see youve got some awesome strains on the go mate, ill have to drop by and check out your pics mate.

edit: (had a look at yer pics and they look sweet, good to see you finally up and running, your new grow looks very good man. :canabis: )

Heres a little update of my very little DC bud lol If i can manage to get the flowering clones to take root ill make a row in a sea of green and veg them longer and finally get a nice harvest the next time around. patience is a virtue, more like a pain in the ass.

Alright fella's, and Ladies ofcourse ;)

Anyone able to help out with my recycled find for the day?

Its an old grocery store shelf that was on a cooled shelf... like where they keep milk and stuff you know...

It has a white flouro inbuilt in the top of the shelf , but the plug for it looks like the plug for my ballast, you know with a circular prong?

Any suggestions on wether i need a special adapter to plug it into or should i just try and replace the whole cord?

Cheers,
Leeroy :D

Hi Leeroy, here's the translation of the text regarding the cabinet:
The system which we are explaining here is ideal, as it provides us with 4 – 6 harvests per year. Here is the setup.

The system is composed of three areas:

a) Area for rooting of the clones and germination of seeds, this area occupies minimum 47.24 inches x D 15.75 inches, and should be illuminated by 2 – 4 flourescents. Minimum height for this area should be 19.7 inches.

b) Veg area which occupies minimum L 71” x D 23.5” and should be illuminated with a 250W - 400W MH bulb. Minimum height should be 40- 60 inches, depending on the size of the lamp.

c) Flower area which occupies minimum L 71” x D 23.5” and with a minimum height of 78.75 inches. This area will be illuminated with a 400W HPS and will be completely isolated from light infiltration during the 12 hours of darkness.

A system of six fluorescents can be used in the veg area (area B) instead of the MH.

Perpetual Harvest with this setup:

For this system to be able to operate continuously its natural to presume the existence of female clones which will be made to root in Zone A, and will be taken from one or more Mother plants which may be kept in a vegetative state in a separate area (such as another closet), or in a larger area in the same setup which would function as a Zone A+B. The light cycle in Zone B (or Zone A+B) should not be superior to 18/6 as the plants are not to grow too large too quickly. The clones can easily be placed on the ground in the same area as the Mothers.

When the roots show, they’ll be repotted in their final pots and transferred to Zone B (or left in the same zone to veg with the Mothers if using the A+B solution). The cuttings should be left to grow to a height of 11-14 inches. At this point cuttings should be taken either from the Mothers again, or from clones themselves (make sure you take more than you need to be sure of the results), and placed to root in Zone A. The grown plants should be left a few days in Zone B for the cuts to heal, then transferred to Zone C for flowering. At this point the cuttings in Zone A will be grown and ready to transfer to Zone B and will then be ready to provide new cuttings for Zone A. In this manner the harvest is slowed down only by the time necessary for the plants flowering in Zone C to finish flowering.

If the plants in Zone C are not yet ready to be harvested when the cuttings in Zone A have reached the desired height, it will be necessary either to top them, or another possibility is that of bringing the light cycle down from 18 hours to 16 or 14 hours to slow down vegetative growth until the plants in Zone C have finished flowering.

The differences in the rates of vegetative growth will depend largely on the strains selected and the growers’ experience. With different strains there’ll be different time frames of growth and ripening. In this case the plants should be moved from one Zone to the other on the basis of each individual plants’ behavior, as soon as one is moved to one zone another takes its place and so on. This requires more attention because there will be plants in each of the Zones and in each of the phases. Time consuming, yes, but it allows for an excellent opportunity to study indepth the behavior of the plants in question.

With a perpetual harvest setup it is very important to avoid any kind of contamination with parasites coming from outside, in very little time they can infest the entire setup.

Like all manuals it is somewhat incomplete, as it doesn't give specs for ventilation andd extractors, but I do believe you have enough know-how and creativity to figure out what to place and where. I am not a very happy grower today...my preflower guessing days are over. I am no good at it ;). Got too many males, and my gallery isn't working. When I get it fixed I'll update my thread. Hope your day goes better than mine ;)

We have a radio station here i like to listen to, and they have a segment called, "tell like it is Friday".
JJJ - how good mate, but those boys only have a week or 2 left on the air :(

With ref to that power cord, as mentioned above, its simply the earth wire...you can buy power adapters (dick smith, tandy etc) that look a bit like double adapters which you can use to plug into the wall....like the power adapters for appliances when in other countries.

OK, off to read about cloning ;)

Thanks for the tips on the plug mate, im eager to see if it works because if so, theres another 6 of the buggers i can go back and get to re-cycle. Thanks for stopping by man.
