I actually do testing for DHN, and have grown most of their newer clones indoor.

DHN recently began a wide spread "clean plant protocol" for all of their genetics. Everything that is being released currently, has passed through tissue culture and is tested regularly for dudding, etc..

If you used them in the past, understand that they are a clone company. They get cuts given to them, and they purchase cuts. Sometimes those cuts are released without anyone doing testing on them.. because they are a clone company.

Until they got a hold of testers like me (we've been doing testing for them over the past year) they only had a few outdoor growers that would grow their stuff first. So they had to take gambles in the past, and trust peoples words on what they were giving them.. and being new, DHN had to learn several lessons in that process. They truly have their shit together now, and have built a laboratory just to ensure everything they release is 100% clean, from the genetics up.

I can highly, recommend.. our cut of Romulan once they release it (info just went up on their website for it) and:

The Bling
Strawberry Cheesecake
Chile Verde (if they ever properly release it, and dont just tease people with mini-releases)

Stay away from anything bred by Hawaiian Seed Company. It all hermed on us, and several things they stopped selling because of that. In fact, I would if you did not enjoy DHN in the past.. stay away from anything not marked NEW STRAIN. But definitely try their new stuff. They have got some great cuts and genetics from Ethos and Purple City Genetics coming down the pipeline, as well as many very rare cuts and clones, that are still passing through their lab.

So they are going to release the Original Romulan cut? I know quite a few trying to source the real cut but all they keep finding is the hybrid. Great information, thanks. I've honestly been avoiding their cuts, but sounds like they are starting to get their act together. Good to know.

Thanks. Personally I've been waiting for the Magic Melon to finally drop.

Its not as great as I hoped it would be.. still very good in every way, just not nearly as good as the Bling and the Strawberry Cheesecake. Blueberry Muffins were quite a bit on par with the Melon.. good terps, nice frost and fast finish, but not a whole lot of potency to the herb, even though they still were good smoke. Im a heavy smoker and need a really strong high to be satisfied, so I made extract out of my melon and muffins. Both were excellent at that point, but kind of throw away stuff until then. I gave about a lb of each away to family and friends, because I just didnt really find it that interesting to smoke.

The WhoOody was an amazing plant, in fact all of Nerds Genetics stuff is really great.. the Mirage was quite a unique and wonderful plant to grow/smoke. Vanilla Frosting was super good, but I liked the Bling far more.. better taste and more up my alley come smoke time. Bling was a heavy yielder, probably one of their better yielding plants and is comparable to my Romulan. A 24" plant at harvest (I grow modified SOG most of the time) and not even a full grown girl, will still net you at least an ounce or more, even on a bad day.

See you had good luck w the straw cheesecake? I did not. Hair balls of halfway smelling terps. Flavorless smoke, literally next to plants that had loads of success in comparison... In the same tray, off of the same res. I just got bad cuts maybe.

Awesome, thanks for the insights. I grew BB Muffin for a couple runs, so definitely get that. I've been running Mirage for close to a year now, and really love it. I want to find a good OG, and cross it with the Mirage, was thinking maybe the DHN Venom OG cut might go well with the Mirage genetics. I've thought about picking up the WhoOody, but still have some seeds from a recent order to pop and have limited space. Based on your feedback though, I might pick a cut of it up anyway.

The cuts are all actually from the same mother plant.. perhaps you got them from a dispo that is not taking good care of their plants?

Not sure why you had a bad experience. That plant was super easy to grow. All I gave it was water, and organic soil.

I got them the day they were delivered....i dunno. Just tossed my last runt/virally infected grape ape cut. I cant risk it w them anymore. Glad others are having success.

See, I ask because you said you had plants all running from the same res., in the same tray. And in my experience with testing seeds and genetics for companies like MOB Seeds, DHN, Humboldt Seed Company, Roots Gardens, and many more.. from time to time things dont work out, and I know its my fault. Im just not growing that particular plant how it likes. I know because I can look around, and see tons of people growing the same thing and they had great results. So instead of thinking, well that plant sucks! I try harder, and adjust things to give the plant what it wants.. not what I want to give it. I dont think anyone would argue that each strain, has its own set of individual needs.

Sometimes things go well in soil, others the plants like hydro. Some hate indoors, while others like the sun. Some are heavy feeders, while others thrive with almost nothing. You cant really grow something once, in my opinion.. and say its crap, unless it herm'd and you know you didnt stress it out or have light leakage.

I mean even more of a question to me, is why you seem to keep hanging out in a thread for a company that you seem dead set on never using again? Why are you hanging out in here telling people not to try something, that with a small amount of research shows you that others are growing those same plants just fine? I know this will probably offend you, but I am honestly asking out of confusion on why you would hang out in here commenting more than, say once or twice?

Do you realize that your personal experience is not paramount to others? Let people try things, and stop trying to force them out of ever considering it..

With cannabis the only time you can set your mind on a strain, is if everyone else is having the same experience.. and obviously that is not happening here. If everyone but you grows it well, its you. If everyone has the plant hermie, its the genetics. If 5 people can grow it well, and the other 500 cant.. its those 500 that do not understand how to grow it. Plain and simple. Im sorry, but I get a little tired of the mentality that you can say, "Ive tried something once and did not like it because it didnt turn out like it did for others.." it is just maddening to me that people feel the need to spread around negativity for no good reason other than they are a little upset.

If Im wrong and have you pegged into the wrong hole.. just remember Im a salty ass Marine Veteran who is a son of a bitch anyway. Just write me off, and move on with your life.

Selling cuts is risy business. Lots of them will lose vigour due to conflicting environments and their epigenetic specifics. Not all plants will hum along nicely when every aspect of their care is changed, in fact probably about 50% won't in my experience.

Putting them outside for a season can help get them back their vigour, then reintroducing them to your indoor environment is usually much more successful. IMO nobody should be bringing in unquarantined cuts to their garden at any rate, and these things should be sorted out before rocking the boat of an entire company.

Ive been doing this for 18 years. I know a dudded plant when i see it. They have virally infected material and it was more than clear. They have the dudding happening with more people than just me. I am happy to provide photos of two plants that grew next to each other in the same dwc setup. Ive been using my same setup for almost 8 years. Its me not them? I go from having no issues at all to buying their plants that wont grow in veg(4/5 or more), then when flowered they turn into spindly hairy smell and tasteless garbage? I have pics of the tahoe with normal AND dudded branches. I have pics of their hairy bs strawberry cheesecake. I also have photos of the stuff of my own prior stable of genetics that have no issues in veg or flower. Im sorry to say it all I was hyped to try their gear! It was just so obvious their genetics are tainted. I am disappointed i spent money, lost money and had to throw out their plants. I have no benefit to lying about this. If i had a bad run id admit it. Ill dig through my pics and return w the proof.

I have been a member here on ic forever and I find a civic duty to alert my colleagues that this is happening so they dont lose thousands like I have. Also, I keep “hanging out” in here because I am eager to see those with similar troubles and those who have had success. Ive run their strawberry cheesecake, both tahoe and hades og, grape ape, and blueberry muffin. I think that gives me a right to be here. The only plant from them that had some clones with no dudding was the grape ape and 3/4 were duds and didnt even move in veg. Had to toss them. Im not happy about it obviously, who would be?

So I stupidly got bored w my own genetics, as one does, and instead of going from seed I trusted darkheart. It seemed logical that they had a good reputation, good looking genetics and availability. So i gave them a real shot especially after talking with one of their staff members who i really liked. Anyway, here are current photos of my prior genetics, purple punch(not from dhn), my alien cookies and my chem crossed with my karma gear. No dudding here. Not a dud in site since the dhn clone removal. So there you have it, photos for evidence, my personal experience and shots after eliminating their stuff of non dudded material. Not sure how much clearer I can make it. Also, Romulan, this is exactly what this forum is for! What i just showed! This is its exact purpose! If your biased toward DHN i get it, they put you on or whatever and thats cool. But unless they act, this problem will get worse. More people will make this complaint and have similar issues. Im happy for those who dont encounter this.

Romulan, there are more pics if you would like to see them. If you want to call this grower error thats fine but maybe dont kid yourself? Also, i was on alert from the dispensary to be alerted of when they were receiving drops and I acquired them same day. So unless on multiple occasions over the many months i was picking them up, they managed to hit the store and all of them instantly picked up a virus within hours before i got them, well thats just mindblowing and close to impossible. They sent infected cuts whether they knew it or not.
