leftists want universal healthcare and nationalization of the industry to remove much of the profit motive. democrats want to uphold the status quo, republicans want to uphold the status quo and make things worse, libertarians think we don't have enough corporate capitalism and want to go the complete other direction and give these people more power.... there's only one group IMO that's correct on the policy issues and that's the left.

How do you nationalise a global entity? And do you think the Pharma companies would allow the course of action nevessary to accomplish such a thing? They would fight for their survival, and their profits. They would throw money at the problem until it went away. The only people that would be impervious to their advances and bribes would be someone who is already a billionaire. But even then, they would have to be an absolue patriot to follow through, ignore the payoffs and kick these corporations out of their seats of power.

In summary, this report demonstrates the antiviral potencies of CBD and Δ[SUP]9[/SUP]-THC against SARS-CoV-2. Based on privileged safety index CBD and Δ[SUP]9[/SUP]-THC in human and their current in vitro potencies against SARS-CoV-2, it can be concluded that these compounds are potential antiviral molecules towards SARS-CoV-2 and may have worked as dual-acting against SARS-CoV-2, not only block the viral translation procedure by inhibiting SARS-CoV-2 M[SUP]pro[/SUP] but also reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines levels in lung cells by acting as agonists of CB-2 receptor. The successful in vitro work here of CBD and Δ[SUP]9[/SUP]-THC lays the framework for their application in human clinical trials for the treatment of human coronavirus infections. Thus, CBD and Δ[SUP]9[/SUP]-THC may be used in combination or with other drugs to treat COVID-19 patients.

Abstract

As a complement to vaccines, small-molecule therapeutic agents are needed to treat or prevent infections by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) and its variants, which cause COVID-19. Affinity selection-mass spectrometry was used for the discovery of botanical ligands to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Cannabinoid acids from hemp (Cannabis sativa) were found to be allosteric as well as orthosteric ligands with micromolar affinity for the spike protein. In follow-up virus neutralization assays, cannabigerolic acid and cannabidiolic acid prevented infection of human epithelial cells by a pseudovirus expressing the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and prevented entry of live SARS-CoV-2 into cells. Importantly, cannabigerolic acid and cannabidiolic acid were equally effective against the SARS-CoV-2 alpha variant B.1.1.7 and the beta variant B.1.351. Orally bioavailable and with a long history of safe human use, these cannabinoids, isolated or in hemp extracts, have the potential to prevent as well as treat infection by SARS-CoV-2.

Everytime I vote in the primaries, I’m voting for who runs the party. It is a multifractional process of elimination. Perhaps 20 candidates with many different backers. Somebody has to lose.
Decisions always come down to the final two choices. One commanding over 50% of the vote. With 3 finalists, only 33% of the population will make the choice. While it gives the minority a say, it’s not majority rule. We end up with the extremists and underdogs gaining power.
