We had a terrible thunderstorm that generated such a big outflow that it created a haboob. A haboob is a giant dust storm like they have in the Sahara. Check out the video here:
This was in the late afternoon when it first started. Later in the evening the wind was so bad it was blowing down phone poles and blew an 18 wheeler off the highway. The lightning was so bad it was like being bombed by bombers flying over.
This made up my mind to use the Solexx panels for a roof instead of plastic sheet. If I had my outdoor grow room up and running with plants like yours, the roof would have been shredded and blown away. The plants inside would have also been torn up.
The Solexx panels are guaranteed not to degrade due to UV radiation, from the Sun, for 10 years. But I doubt that they will last more than 2 or 3 in the Arizona Sun. We have the highest UV radiation in the US and the second highest in the World. Only the outback in Australia has more. We also have the highest skin cancer rate.
All this UV radiation is bad for plastic and people but good for pot plants. The plants generate resin as a protective measure.
So, for me, Solexx is a must for the roof and re-mesh sides supporting tan shade cloth for the sides.
I'll start a thread with photos when I get going.
Those flowers on your plants are huge! I'm sure you will have a bountiful harvest.
Have a question for you JJ. Just wondering what you think would happen if you built another greenhouse and started flowering moms on 9/1 with the natural sunlight? I mean obviously with a 10 or 11 week strain harvest would be later Novemeber but do you think that the plants would bud up well? With a strong indian summer perhaps? And then do you think supplemental lighting would help? And I just mean supplemental lighting that is on during on hrs maybe like 6 hrs a day from i dont know 9 to 3 or 10 to 4. I say 6 hrs because Im not dying to pay a huge electric bill. Since we are on a hill I would like to avoid supplemental lighting because of the glow but ill do what we have to do.Thanks SF
Hey guys!
I think you'll need some type of heater to use a greenhouse year round.
I tried a winter greenhouse crop a couple years ago, without a heater, fail!
I think it would have worked, if I had a heater. The plants got frosty as hell, just didn't form up any buds. I made it all into hash. Good luck bro.
Mark, it's a "Hudson Fogger", works much better than a regular sprayer. Most grow stores carry them. I found one at my local hydro store.
How are those super big flowers doing? I have found that when they reach this stage, they can grow as much as 2 inches in 24 hours.
I think, judging by your photos, that you have more of an "outdoor grow room" than a true greenhouse. Wouldn't you agree?
I have not seen any kind of fan in any of the photos, so I assume you get enough air circulation from the tan shade cloth.
Whatever you are doing really makes those plants happy. I bet there is a smile on your face under that bandana. Sitting among the plants always makes me happy, even when they are small.
I have gained a lot of useful info from reading your threads. Thank you for sharing your methods with us.
hey ddj hows it been hope everything growin good one of my buddies was telling me to start pulling my greenhouse top back during the day and covering it back up at night says ill yelid better since it wont be as hot should i do this or jus keep the green house the way it is thanks for the help
Double J,
Did you detail your feeding schedule in this thread partner? I had went through it last night but after a 12 hr day on job I might have missed it.
I'm sorry I haven't posted any updates for awhile.
Everything is alright, I've just been busy, but that's a crappy excuse. My bad!
The Medijuana finished about 1 week ago. I had a lot of worm damage because I don't have the carport as sealed up as last year. I got about 1 1/4lb of worm damaged buds (In the hash pile) & 1lb of beautiful worm free buds. So that plant gave a little over 2lbs.
So there are 8 plants now.
Here's a couple pic's to catch-up.
