After four days of marathon negotiating, still no stimulus deal in the Senate

Pressure has been intensifying for days on the Senate to pass a massive stimulus package to respond to the economic fallout of the coronavirus, but Monday came and went without much action.

After four straight days of marathon negotiations, the Trump administration and senators again failed to secure an agreement on a roughly $2 trillion plan to provide a jolt to the economy and give aid to hard-hit workers and industries.

But leaders emerged from late-night meetings in the Capitol optimistic that a deal could be struck Tuesday despite tweets from President Donald Trump trashing the deal and baselessly accusing Democrats of siding with "the virus."

read an article about a group of Polish women sewing masks.

all these young American people pissed off about their quarantines.

they could be paid to make masks

if their f'ing school education included sewing lessons.

They don't teach sewing anymore, but after this depression, I bet Home Economic and Shop will make a comeback.

I took Home Economic in grade 8. That's where all the chicks were. lol

Republicans will do anything to let their like stick their hands in the 2 trillion dollar cookie jar. Just like they did in the 2008 bailout.

2008 stimulus package was a blatant unapologetic sin against the American people. I hope it goes better this time, but with Mitch McConnell at the helm, it doesn't look good. He'll starve the American people before he lets that money slip out of his fingers.

Um, the porkulus bill was passed by the demswith NO repuke votes, people had to vote for itto see what was in it, and it was oboma desk the day he sat down for the first time. As soon as he got done signing EOs to seal off his past records, including school, he signed the porkulus bill.

This one is BS, as all bank and corporate bailout bills are. This time pelosi is cramming it full of poison and voter fraus provisions.

They should make it a clean bill, handouts to people and SBs only. Then see who puts their name on the bill for corp bailout, including Boeing. That company should be nationalized if it is so important to defense.

They already bailed out the banks and gave the keys to the treasury.

Hey liberals, do you also believe that the gold is still in Ft Knox? I don't. Your boy oboma never had it audited, never released the JFK truth, never released the UFO truth, but he sure got a lot of reggie's love.

Wuhan lockdown to be lifted on April 8
Authorities in the Chinese province of Hubei say they will remove travel restrictions in the city of Wuhan on April 8.

Airports, railway stations and highways in Wuhan have been closed since January 23 to curb the spread of the new coronavirus.

The city had thousands of confirmed cases on a daily basis at the peak of the outbreak. However, there were no new infections for five days from March 18 and only one case on Monday.

India, the world’s second-most populous country, will order its 1.3 billion people to stay inside their homes for three weeks to try to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Tuesday.

The extensive lockdown order was declared a day after the authorities there grounded all domestic flights.

Italy has reported 602 new deaths from the coronavirus on Monday, bringing the total to 6,077 with the tally of cases in the country, a major hotspot, rising to 63,928.

South Korea's top public health official hopes that the country has already gone through the worst of the novel coronavirus outbreak that has infected thousands inside the country.

"We are hoping that we have passed the peak, taking the numbers into consideration, and cautiously expecting we have passed the peak," South Korean Health Minister Park Neunghoo said in an exclusive interview with CNN.

overstretched NHS.

It also suggests that health chiefs are braced for as many as 80% of Britons becoming infected with the coronavirus over that time.

Prof Chris Whitty, the government’s chief medical adviser, has previously described that figure as the worst-case scenario and suggested that the real number would turn out to be less than that. However, the briefing makes clear that four in five of the population “are expected” to contract the virus.

The document says that: “As many as 80% of the population are expected to be infected with Covid-19 in the next 12 months, and up to 15% (7.9 million people) may require hospitalisation.”

CDC says coronavirus RNA found in Princess Cruise ship cabins up to 17 days after passengers left...

Coronavirus RNA survived for up to 17 days aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship, lasting far longer on surfaces than previous research has shown, according to new data published Monday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The study examined the Japanese and U.S. government efforts to contain the COVID-19 outbreaks on the Carnival-owned Diamond Princess ship in Japan and the Grand Princess ship in California. Passengers and crew on both ships were quarantined on board after previous guests, who didn't have any symptoms while aboard each of the ships, tested positive for COVID-19 after landing ashore.

I just boiled some face-masks.

Been throwing them on the dashboard after shopping.

Boiled my used rubber gloves too.

ANOSMIA - loss of smell (and taste) are being observed as symptoms of Covid19 infection.

Erik is a software entrepreneur turned money manager, who runs MacroVoices. Lenore lives in Lake Como.

Erik probably has the C-Virus. He describes a persistent chest pain continuing after the main infection, which is shared by many other people around the world.

Those are the "good outcome" cases.

This virus really does cause permanent lung damage in many patients, including young patients.

The area of Italy that was infected = Beverly Hills type area. Lots of $$ for world-class hospitals. And THEY are overwhelmed.

Can't see how it will be any better for the US. Trump has 20,000 ventilators but refuses to give them to New York - even though they are getting hit hardest.

Maybe what we are seeing is actually a counter-terrorism campaign to convince the terrorists they don't need to attack the US because, with Covid19 here, the US is perfectly capable of destroying itself.

Trump is such a genius to have thought of that ! /sarc

Yours is the least intelligent post I have seen anywhere in a long time. There is zero legit defense of this creature in the White House. tRump called the virus a "democratic hoax" and did NOTHING but play golf & milk $$$$ from the US Treasury while doing so. Thousands will die & have died due to his 100% ineptness. And as far as your "liberals" comment -I can educate you on that bullshit. The huge tax cut the criminal so-called "Conservative" GOP did expires next year for US citizens - but stays in place for corporations. And the fake "conservatives" cut ZERO expenses to offset the huge loss of incoming revenue = exploding the deficit, in the most un-Conservative action possible = proving they are not "Conservatives" in the least.
I consider you a victim of crime, a victim of fraud done by one of the hugest conman in the World. That $25,000,000 FRAUD judgement against tRump is the tip of his legacy. But you are a willing victim of fraud if you do not spend any time examining your mistaken beliefs.

KAISER PERMANENTE THREATENED TO FIRE NURSES TREATING COVID-19 PATIENTS FOR WEARING THEIR OWN MASKS, UNIONS SAY

https://theintercept.com/2020/03/24/kaiser-permanente-nurses-coronavirus/

Texas turns to prison labor to help cover face mask shortages

Texas prison inmates are making cotton face masks that will be given to first responders for free to alleviate a shortage of medical materials during the coronavirus pandemic, state Sen. John Whitmire said.

Prisoners in a unit at Gatesville Correctional Facility, a women's prison located about 120 miles south of Dallas, have been producing the masks for about a week and will continue for at least the next week, he said. They expect to produce about 25,000 masks, Whitmire said.
