Thousands of people in Florida appear to be ignoring calls to self isolate and distance themselves from others to help control the coronavirus outbreak by going to the city's beaches en masse.

A lot of people used to laugh at preppers like myself. They aren't laughing anymore.
I had a guy ask if I had any 38 special rounds I could sell him. They are making people jump through hoops here in California to buy any ammunition. Restaurants and bars are all closed, and the store shelves are bare. My company issued a letter saying they will continue to pay base wages if we become ill or quarantined. That's good news

All the collectives are selling out due to people freaking out .. Biz is booming and Prices going up

I am thankful I am at least slightly a prepper. Now that that is proving handy I find my self wishing I was more into the survivalist side of prepping. As long as people do not take to the streets and start getting nutty, we are mostly prepared.

I still laugh at the idea of prepping with civilian model peashooters, military urban disaster units and some police departments have non lethal 'secret weapons' designed for domestic use such as being able to render entire city blocks temporarily blind by disrupting the frequency of the visual cortex

if it gets bad enough that some take to the streets as it were, places that don't have that kind of funding will probably just send some national guard to waste them, maybe even from a helicopter, but oh boy how about that bump stock and 30rd mag

prepper/survivalist is a marketing demographic allowed by American capitalism

Mark Esper federal defence secretary comments...

At the state level, 18 governors have already activated more than 1,500 guardsmen to assist with the U.S. response to the virus, Esper said. These forces are helping operate drive-thru virus testing facilities, staff emergency operations centers, clean public spaces and transport health care workers.

By federalizing the force, guardsmen would be put under control of the president, rather than their respective governors, and could deploy outside their state. In addition, the deployment would be funded by the federal government, rather than the states.

The department is also preparing the Navy's two hospital ships, the USNS Comfort and the USNS Mercy, for a potential deployment to hotspots to help support patients who aren't suffering from COVID-19, relieving civilian hospitals dealing with the virus, Esper said.

"Our capabilities are focused on trauma ... they don't have necessarily the segregated spaces that you need to deal with infectious diseases," Esper said, adding that building field hospitals or deploying the hospital ships could "take the pressure off of civilian hospitals when it comes to trauma cases to open up civilian hospital rooms for infectious diseases."

BREAKING PALM SPRINGS..Shelter in place order after third death in Coachella Valley

At an emergency city council meeting Monday morning, Palm Springs city leaders issued an order advising all residents to shelter-in-place and limit their activities.

The order comes as Riverside County officials confirm a third person has died as a result of COVID-19 in the Coachella Valley.

My father is 93

He began his "shelter in place" yesterday. Im ready here too for when we get word to do the same. My son is here, but wants to make it to our off grid property in the mountains before they lock us down. He may not make it through though, even with his new 4 wheeler, as there was a lot of snow dumped recently

the more reclusive guerilla growers would be protected by their distance from infectious places like BART and Mecca.

Research in Wuhan and Shenzhen indicates patients with the blood group had higher rate of infection and tended to get more severe symptoms
Those with type O ‘had a significantly lower risk for the infectious disease’ compared to others

the general population Type O blood (34%) is more common than A (32%). However, among COVID-19 patients, people with Type O accounted for just 25%, whereas Type A made up 41%.

People with Type O blood made up a quarter (25 per cent) of deaths in the research. Normally, Type O people make up 32 per cent of people in Wuhan.

The controversial correlation has yet to be scrutinised by other academics in peer review and the researchers are unable to explain why infection varies by blood type.

Mnuchin warns senators lack of action could result in 20% unemployment rate, source says

Steven Mnuchin warned Republican senators Tuesday morning that without action the coronavirus pandemic could drive up US unemployment to 20%, a Republican Senate source told CNN.

Mnuchin's comments came as he urged Republican senators to act on economic stimulus measures totaling $1 trillion designed to avert that kind of worst case scenario.

Boeing wants $60B, cause they spent that much on stock buybacks, and it went wrong. There are about 300 million people in the USA. Boeing wants $200 for each person in the country, for themselves. Man, woman, child.

Guatemala suspends deportation flights, pauses Trump asylum deal
Guatemala moved to block deportation flights from the U.S. on Tuesday by temporarily suspending a bilateral agreement that allowed the Trump administration to send non-Guatemalan asylum-seekers to the country.

The move comes one day after Guatemala announced a nationwide shutdown in response to the escalating coronavirus pandemic.

Guatemala's conservative government announced Tuesday it would stop receiving asylum-seekers deported under the so-called "Asylum Cooperative Agreement." The country's foreign ministry also said U.S. flights of Guatemalan deportees that were scheduled on Tuesday were canceled.
