Coronavirus.. outlook

I live in one of the most effected areas in Germany and today was announced that all schools and kindergartens will stay closed from now on. In three weeks there are holidays anyway, so this means all kids will stay home for at least five weeks.
German government recommend to avoid social contacts as good as possible. Swiss media report this evening, that it is expected that Germany, Austria and Swiss will get locked down completely at the end of the next week. A total shutdown is expected.

'Experten rechnen mit Ausgangssperren in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz bis Ende kommender Woche."

--> Experts expect curfews in Germany, Austria and Swiss until end of the next week.'

I was shopping today and it is eerie. Shelfs are partly empty in the malls and supermarkets like I never saw before. Products like noodles, rice, toilet paper are still available, but shelfs are looted. Masses of people filling up their personal food stock. Strange mood out here. To me it seems people don't really realize how serious the situation is or it is a grim sense of humor I don't know.

Was also in the tools market and the garden center. Will start to prepare my garden earlier and I built a hotbed for my salad and some small plants. I used an old sandbox of the kids of my neighbors and filled it with compost and clutched some foil over it with the help of some bamboo sticks. I'm longing for my own fresh stuff.

Gov. DeWine: 100,000 believed to have coronavirus in Ohio, number projected to double every six days| Fox News...

The state of Ohio is seeing "very difficult times" under the threat of the coronavirus pandemic, Gov. Mike DeWine said Friday.

In an interview on "America's Newsroom" with host Sandra Smith, DeWine said he had relied on experts in his decision to order school closings starting Monday evening and ban mass gatherings of more than 100 people.

OHIO LIKELY HAS 100,000 CASES, TOP HEALTH OFFICIAL SAYS

Additionally, on Thursday, Ohio's top health officials announced that there are likely over 100,000 undiagnosed cases of COVID-19 in the state thus far.

"We have a panel of 14 doctors," said DeWine. "We also reached out to other experts yesterday and it was clear that we had to take this action in regard to our schools."

DeWine explained that what the "experts" were telling him was that the number of projected undiagnosed cases walking around will double every six days.

"You just think about that," he mused. "We are in some tough times in Ohio. And, it's very, very important for us to do everything we can do slow this down."

DeWine said he knew that actions like closing schools had other consequences, but that the goal is to avoid encountering problems like "the situation" in Italy.

I sure hope 100,000 is wrong.. that is just too much, that would be all over the place in some days/ a few weeks.. Then you could estimate 10,000 who needs intensive care, and 30-40 prosent of that again to die.

How is the boarders in US, between states I mean, closed?

Denmark is closing all boarders. Only Danish people allowed to come home is entering the country.

if it's 100,000 in Ohio
then its got to be close to a million in the whole USA
which would not be good news

Because the virus is now loose and un-tracked it is on track to be 100 million to 200 million Americans, possibly more.

150 million x .034 ~ 5 Million Americans dead by about July 4.
(from 3.4% case fatality rate @
https://covid19info.live/
It's up to 3.7% actually)

Hospitals maxed out by about May 8 - from Liz Specht

Other good references ... Dr. Chris Martenson & Dr. John Campbell.

Because the virus is loose & un-tracked the only thing you can count on is exponential growth in the number of cases & the number of fatalities.

I was wearing a mask at the store when one of the checkout people sneezed in my face. I've known her for about 8 years, she has good manners and doesn't normally do stuff like that.

Something caught her off guard. Could just be allergies.

I went home and washed my hands and my face & eyes & forehead with Apple Dawn ... twice. We will see what happens.

If you ring the hotline because you have it, they will only come and test you if it's life threatening. Thus, the number of infections recorded in my country are nothing like the real figure.
Now if they told us this, we really would take more care not to catch it. Leaving me starting to question the true intent of government.

The World's 30 Strangest Military Bases
The world's hodgepodge of military bases run the gamut from hazardous mountaintop forts to seemingly impenetrable underground bunkers.

The world's hodgepodge of military bases run the gamut from hazardous mountaintop forts to seemingly impenetrable underground bunkers. Then there are bases on remote islands tracking objects in deep space and high-tech laboratories probing the most lethal microbes in existence. The design of a base needs to address the immediate needs of a military while still being versatile enough to remain useful as threats and technology evolve. We tracked down some of the most interesting active military facilities and spoke with Brad Schulz, vice president of federal architecture at HNTB, about why they're notable.

So what does everyone else think an orchestrated effort or not?
Trumpers not included.

8 states have closed school districts until April 6 or after. They are petri dishes to begin with.
Better to side on caution with crowd closings, etc. I think there's a little hysteria when everyone bought out the toilet paper. I normally keep 20+ rolls in house anyway and 1/2 dozen rolls of paper towels.

In a pinch, you can use vodka instead of iso alcohol and aloe vera to make hand sanitizer. Recipes are:

1 cup of 91% isopropyl alcohol.
½ cup of aloe vera gel (natural or store-bought)
15 drops of tea tree oil (or another antibacterial essential oil)

1 TBSP rubbing alcohol.
1/2 tsp vegetable glycerin (optional)
1/4 cup aloe vera gel.
10 drops cinnamon essential oil.
10 drops tea tree essential oil.
distilled water (colloidal silver/ionic silver adds antibacterial power if available)
other essential oils (just for scent)

Best solution....don't shake hands. Don't go into massive crowds. Wash with soap and water, wipe off door knobs, computer keyboards, mouse, phones, use sleeve to push elevator or doors.

Because of the lag of support (not taking it seriously in January) from Federal level, states are being proactive. I'm sure far more cases are out there than reported.

Stay SAFE everyone!

If you didn't get the flu vaccine, it's possible to have had the flu, which was worse than usual this year. Sorry you were so ill. Hopefully feeling human again instead of road kill. (no pun intended)

BREAKING...

SEATTLE — King County officials say a homeless man who was awaiting coronavirus test results left the Kent quarantine facility Friday and got onto a Metro bus.

“My fears for this facility have come true,” Kent Mayor Dana Ralph,

Because the quarantine is voluntary, the county doesn’t have the authority to detain people against their will, Ralph said at a Friday news conference.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in Washington continue to grow.

Americans do NOT have the discipline to stay by themselves.

Trump 'Most Likely' To Test For Coronavirus After Meeting Foreign Officials
A day after his communications secretary went into quarantine after testing positive for coronavirus, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Friday moved swiftly to shoot down local news reports that he too had tested positive. That was good news for President Trump.

"Negative for COVID-19, the Honorable President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro," the Brazilian president wrote on his official Twitter account.

China hints at denying Americans life-saving coronavirus drugs..fox news reporting

In an article in Xinhua, the state-run media agency that's largely considered the mouthpiece of the party, Beijing bragged about its handling of COVID-19, a virus that originated in the city of Wuhan and has spread quickly around the world, killing nearly 5,000 people and infecting thousands more. The article also claimed that China could impose pharmaceutical export controls which would plunge America into "the mighty sea of coronavirus."

The disturbing threats made during a global pandemic as well as the scary consequences if that threat becomes real highlight just how tight China's grip is on the global supply chain. Already, the Food and Drug Administration has announced the first drug shortage related to the coronavirus. Though it did not disclose which drug was in short supply, the FDA did say it could not access enough raw components needed because they are made in China.

That doesn't come as a surprise to Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla, who told Fox News on Thursday that America is "dangerously reliant" on China for the production of critical goods, including parts for technologies needed to fight COVID-19.
