Fear of Chino is the beginning of wisdom. My coal-black cat hates with a passion, all living things except me, and he launches frenzied attacks as the mood takes him, purely for disciplinary purposes. Now back to normal transmissions.

50% of which were people over 80
75% of which were people over 70.
Old folks often die.
It’s terrible I know.
Lost my father some years back, I’ll never get over it.

Have both parents lost to cancer, but people in nursery homes are dying of Covid at the moment, but also much younger 46 & 57.Read yesterday a woman of 47 who was in the running to become a judge in Texas died of Covid. You never know if you're a victim to this virus.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, public health officials have warned that coronavirus surges could overwhelm hospitals, preventing both COVID-19 patients and people with other urgent medical issues from getting the care they need. One important metric is the availability of beds in intensive-care units. As the number of COVID cases has surged nationwide in recent weeks, those life-saving beds are overflowing in some areas. According to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services data analyzed by the New York Times, these are seven states where COVID hotspots have filled ICUs.

1.Alabama

According to the COVID Tracking Project, as of Thursday, Cullman, Alabama, has the most overbooked ICUs in the country, at 131% capacity. Ashland is #3, with 115%. Two more localities are overflowing: Boaz (106%) and Foley (101%). On Wednesday, Gov. Kay Ivey extended the state's public mask mandate for six weeks. "The facts are indisputable," she said. "Our cases continue to rise. We have more Alabamians diagnosed with COVID-19 than ever before."

2. New Mexico

The capital, Albuquerque, is grappling with overburdened ICUs: As of Thursday, they're 116% occupied, the second-highest capacity in the nation. Statewide, hospitals have activated "crisis care," suspending nonessential surgeries and allowing doctors to determine which patients receive care based on who is most likely to survive. The number of New Mexicans hospitalized for COVID-19 is three times what it was in November. "We are serving every New Mexican who needs us," Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said Thursday. "But we are getting to a place where it's really dire, and we have to do better."

3. Louisiana

In Baton Rouge, ICU capacity is at 109%. In at least three cities—Leonardtown, Marshall and Hillsdale—ICUs are completely booked. On Thursday, Gov. John Bel Edwards said the state was experiencing a third surge of coronavirus that was the most dangerous yet. The statewide positivity rate has risen to 10.7%, the highest since July and August.

4. Pennsylvania

ICU beds are completely spoken for in several localities in Pennsylvania. In three areas, the capacity is over 100%: Upland (106%), Easton (104%) and Abingdon (102%). Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf has responded to a post-Thanksgiving surge of COVID in the state by introducing new restrictions, shutting down indoor dining and in-person entertainment venues.

5.Florida

In Coral Gables, Lake City, Marianna, Niceville, Pompano Beach and Port St. Lucie, ICU beds were at 100% capacity as of Thursday. The state health department reported 135 deaths on Thursday, approaching the state's daily peak of 185 on Aug. 2.

6.Texas

In several areas of the state, ICUs are full or nearly full. As of Thursday, ICU beds are at 100% capacity in Abilene, Bedford and Temple. In Wichita Falls, Irving and Katy, they're 99% occupied. El Paso is at 97% capacity. On Dec. 9, the state health department tweeted, "Hospitalizations in many areas remain dangerously high. New cases are surging and fatalities are rising."

7. Minnesota

In Hibbing and Winona, ICU beds are well over capacity—at 114% and 111%, respectively, the fourth and fifth most overbooked ICUs in the country. Five more Minnesota cities—St. Cloud, Glenwood, Bemidji, Waconia and Wilmar—say their ICUs are 100% full. According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, only 8% of ICU beds were empty statewide as of Dec. 10.

AUSTRALIA CANCELS COVID VACCINE TRIAL OVER 'UNEXPECTED' FALSE POSITIVES FOR HIV
The Australian government has canceled further development of a COVID-19 vaccine after several trial participants had false positive tests for HIV. The vaccine was being developed by the University of Queensland, while Australian biotech company CSL Limited had been under contract to provide 51 million doses. The vaccine had been on schedule for mid-2021, with phase two and three clinical trials due to commence in December.

Yikes ! Were I ever to be asked if I'd rather be chased by Bigfoot, or by a buffalo, my reply would be that I'd rather have the buffalo chase Bigfoot.

I wonder which would be more stressful. Hearing one is positive for HIV, or hearing a diagnosis of corona virus. Clearly the Australian corona vaccine is a work in progress.

How's this for an example of Covid19 jitters.

I got this from someone who was a friend for 19 years, 2000 to 2019.

He has been eating MRE's and canned food since about March. Second to last time I talked with him, he admitted that he might be malnourished.

Normally I would NEVER share something like this but, well, this one was upsetting. The first thing he says refers to our last conversation.

As his mood has darkened with the election, I have been ignorring his less threatening emails.

But this one is Over the Top.

Covid19 + Election Jitters ==>

"I remember you once told me months ago that the most important thing for the US was "job #1 was to get rid of Trump". I have seen the Democratic party engage in massive fraud on a scale unequaled in history to do just that. What that tells me is that you are with the Democrats and applaud every sort of fraud and dishonesty imaginable. As far as I am unconcerned you are a traitor to the country as well and are on the side of the Communists. You did a really good job of fooling me for years to convince me that you were in favor of honesty and morality, not dishonesty and fraud. Now I see what you are and you aren't my friend. You are now my sworn enemy."

Very interesting how the combination of Covid19 & the election has affected people.

Now imagine this acquaintance, multiply by 100 million - and you're not even counting the unemployed.

I see America in the process of fracturing, to a degree.

I'm actually not registered to vote, and haven't been a registered Dem since 2008. I voted for Cynthia McKinney in 2008.

Now I could post about this in the election thread, but I think it's more of a sign of how Covid19 lockdowns & behavior & diet changes have affected people.

Technically the acquaintance hasn't "snapped" until he grabs his short barrel 308 and starts gunning down suspected Democrats.

Now that really is a disturbing letter, with violent undertones that must be taken seriously. Fanatics that blindly believe in their chosen " cause", are particularly dangerous because their rage can escalate to the point where innocents can get caught up in random acts of "vengeance", carried out by crazed extremists who completely lose their fear of legal consequence to their own actions.

This common thread of "justified insanity" mobilizes unhinged people like the Unabomber, the 911 suicide pilots, the shoe bomber, the Oklahoma Federal Building bomber, and more recently, quite a few of the die-hard conspiracy theorists that remain seriously agitated over the resounding election defeat of outgoing President Trump, whose gross mismanagement of the Corona virus pandemic has placed America at the very top of virus death toll score-boards today.

Not everyone handles crises and unknowns very well. Visible enemies are easier to handle than invisible enemies or unknowns. Then delusions step in some times to help make the chaos seem more manageable or concrete in nature for us.

To use the line from the Green Mile, I believe your friend's "cheese has done slid off of his cracker."

Ha ha "Cheese done slid off his cracker". Say, could this be analogous to being one slice short of a bologna sandwich, or perhaps being afflicted by the "elevator not reaching the top floor" syndrome, which in turn has been likened to the lights being left on with nobody actually home ?

Inquiring minds demand to know he he.

One blade shy of a propeller.
