Coronavirus.. outlook

Friends wife in New York passed Covid 19.

The outlook is...

Try not to get Covid 19.

How this will play out is another matter with some states starting to open...

Protests.. unemployment..meat and food packing houses shutting down..thousands of oil drillers getting layed off...states getting short on cash...

Good luck everyone.:tiphat:

It almost seems like if USA acted a little earlier and smarter they wouldn't be looking down the barrel quite so bad?

Yeah, 'some' countries numbers are obviously phony but many others are doing quite a bit better because they took it seriously from the beginning.

My wife is a nurse at one of the largest hospitals in our state in the largest metropolitan area in the state.

This is what she relates to me....

All elective surgery is cancelled.

2 floors of the hospital are now dedicated to C19 patients and although they have not run out of their ventilator supply all are in use and they are looking for more.

The er is not overflowing, but filled with c19 patients being triaged for either hospital stay or home recovery.

PPE is rationed daily, no longer kept on the unit...and dispersed as needed...there have been days where they have to "reuse masks from previous days.

The hospital although not overflowing....no elective surgery and people who are not critical ill just are not coming into the er because they dont want to get sick too.

No morgue refer trailer at her location, but the two other very large hospitals in more black and brown communities have them parked outside and those hospitals have more c19 pressure/patients.

She worries for the hospitals in the more rural areas that dont have the equipment stock piles like she has at work.

They get very unsubstantial testing before coming into work....How do you feel/are you running a temp? and get their temp checked before clocking in. If you have a high temp...go home, if it persists you can get a swab test after talking to your general practitioner , at your expense, and it could take a week or more to get results.

She changes clothes in the garage when she gets home, throws her scrubs in the wash and hops right in the shower before anything else.

The staff is stressed and our curve has not been flattened. After our botched recent election, Wisconsin, where folks had to stand in close contact to vote there has been more cases coming in faster than before.

She would like people to stay home, wash their hands, and as hard as it is...just pause.....take other peoples health into consideration and know that things are going to be very different for the foreseeable future. This is not going to just go away as the weather warms.

Went to the shops to get bread/milk/rizla... very busy outside today, little bit of sun and all is forgotten it seems.
Also seems like when people put a mask on they think they are immune and get very close

Yes I’ve noticed the same. It’s been increasing as the weeks gone on. We still need to be isolating!

the US is at the bottom of the barrel in terms of Covid19 response.

Deaths per 1 million is WAAAY higher in the US than smaller countries like Singapore and Czechoslovakia.

Hard to watch Americans respond to the situation without thinking of -

Cuomo to Build ‘Tracing Army’ in Preparation for N.Y. Return

New York is building a “tracing army” to track the origin of individual coronavirus cases and reduce the spread so the state can focus on reopening, Governor Andrew Cuomo said.

“When you find a positive person, trace it back and isolate,” Cuomo said.

Our illustrious Governor is calling for some non-essential businesses to be able to re-open this Friday, if they choose, "Providing (specific criteria are met)"

I predicted to my wife and a friend in the bush, to watch the count of verified infections by May 8. The Virus doesn't -require- a 15-day incubation period, but that's the typical parameter given. Thus, some of these may show before then..

Bars and restaurants (as well as nail and hair salons?) are requiring staff to wear masks. Bars and restaurants require patrons to maintain 6' social distancing, and are limited to a max of 25% of seating capacity.

So, in that ingesting food and beverages clearly prohibits wearing masks unless ingesting liquids via straws, or astronaut food via straws, and folks are sitting the customary 6'+ apart, conversations will be at louder volume, which means the likelihood of greater amounts of visible (and not) airborne saliva, a primary carrier of the Virus in the air.

Lovely.

Mind you, some of the less cautious, more gregarious folks will undoubtedly be living with, or associating with folks who were more cautious in their routines, as well as less prone to flaunting the restrictions (think political divisions to be included in this description), but sharing what ever contamination/exposure with those folks, none the less.

May 8: Increased rates of infection in Alaska. $20 wager.

May 8: A slowly creeping, shifting to a degree, of political representation in the demographics.

April 24: A good day for initiating tough love practices. "Fine, do as you will, but you're not coming home to THIS house after your galivanting. There's a spot in the woods, a tent in the basement, or maybe a place in the car port, garage, etc., a camp stove and propane or fuel cylinders, cookware, as well as water jugs in the storage. Good luck to you."

Edit: Local news (Fairbanks Daily News Miner) notes that (our) local governments/municipalities, etc., are to remain on 'lock-down,' not that we actually had a fierce 'lock-down' here, but... Bwahahahahahhaa. How do YOU spell 'canaries in the coal mine,' or 'guinea pigs'? "No, really, just stick your head up and see if they're still out there. We'll wait right here for you.." Bwahahahahaha…. 'Public servants.'

How long are these bankrupt states going to try and scam more federal relief. Sorry New York, your useless state government (with some of highest tax rates in country) has been broke for decades. So bad your state defunded hospital beds. Feeling squeezed? November is your chance to make changes.

most states would benefit from bankruptcy proceedings.

they over-committed to paying retirement benefits & the only way out is bankruptcy.

Nazis, more like it IMO. Isolate? How, Rykers? Some other island?

As for the poorer neighborhoods having the reefers for the bodies, that makes sense. The system needs the bed, and the body is the responsibility of the family. When my father was in the ICU and we had pulled the plug, the nurse stressed to me that I needed to call a mortuary - now, to arrange for the body to be picked up.

Like the tee vee commercial says, the average funeral costs $8000. They may not have the money. The funeral homes may be full up.

Look at how the chicoms dealt with the bodies. Remember looking at SO2?

The world would benefit from absolute bankruptcy. The fiat/petro dollar is a bullshit system from the word go. Return to a gold/ silver/ platinum based economy. As long as the fed keeps printing useless pieces of paper nothing will get better. Pretty sure this is exactly what China does... print print print

Anybody notice seed potatoes sold out or arent available?

Seems like a lot of seeds are harder to get or unavailable. Johnny’s select Seeds for instance will only sell to large buyers this year which is new.

For potatoes this year I bought the 5$ bags of little ones they sell alongside the regulars at the grocery store. Can get mixed types or straight yellow types here.

When oil is worthless, is the petrodollar also?
