Here's a few photos of a plant that seems deficient in something. A number of my first transplants look like this.. I'm thinking it was mostly the ones that were in one gallons-- the 7 gal plants on the whole look a lot better. I thought it seemed pretty light green so I fed some of them with N (fish emulsion at 1-2 tbsp/gal) plus a little micropak with a little AEA Iron and Albion Calcium. First I foliar fed with no results so then I watered just some fish water in. No change. The first photo is a healthy girl next to one of the sad ones, and the rest are different angles of one sad plant. I'm not sweatin' it but it's a little frustrating.

I just opened some special blend A that I got a few months ago and it smells horrendous. Like one of the worst Smells I've ever smelled. I know some of their products stink, but I'm pretty sure this is rotten. Unless somebody can chime in and let me know otherwise.

That's weird. Mine doesn't smell bad it's better than other fish fert I have. When mixed it smells kinda good and sweet. The containers they came in have never expanded with air either.I deiced not to vent them. Kinda make me wonder if it's the same. I have the nutralive grow and vitality and it's only a month or so old

Bu compost is some of the best compost in the country........It wasn't the bu, and you should keep using it for sure.

Alfalfa clumps? Kelp clumps? You said they were gray/green right? Mixed with biochar?

Or the dozer just scooped some native soil while loading up your mix.

I've never used it myself but I only hear great things from those who use it, so I have a feeling you're right when you say Bu isn't to blame

Interesting test. Seems you are chasing the test results which will be relative depending on the lab you use. I haven't ran a test in 2 years, and my results just keep getting better.

These tests are not the end all be all. They are good for general use in field crops. The problem is the test suggestions is based of a certain "paradigm". So you must believe in that "paradigm" to apply the test results.

I liken it to religion, One lab is Christian, another lab is pagan, and another lab may be Buddhist.

I personally don't believe any one lab, and any one test result is the answer. Just like religion.

I also find it interesting that Coot's mix keeps coming up short for somepeople. Some people have great success with it, and others fail miserably. I am still trying to figure out when Coot got hoisted to demigod status.

Unfortunately it has spawned a slew of "growers" to spend a ton of money shipping "specialty" amendments across the Country.

To be fare Bu's is suppose to be great. I have never heard of anyone using it that had an issue with it. That being said I use cheap local compost in my soil. I do not use coot's mix, and I do not get soil tests. What I do goes against what all the "cool" kids are doing, but amazingly it seems to work.

When I initially mixed my first round of the CC Kit I used Oly fish compost as well, never had the soil tested through Logan but I had a pretty decent outcome on my first run:

However, I never managed to No Till in this mix due to using solely rice hulls for my aeration lol. They broke down by the 2nd run and that was that!

My 2nd run with the CC kit has been more successful, as I've used Coast of Maine Compost in place of Oly. I ran out of picture space but results from the COM mix can be seen in the "What is no till gardening?" link below:
