Next season! Shit, I'm doing this as soon as I harvest my blueberry in three week. Which brings me to a question for the Doc.?

I have 8 DWxGB clones about to root in a couple of days. Now I was thinking about how I could plan a grow like yours but with hydro units instead of dirt.

My idea goes something like this...I would have four 1x1 DWC hydro units in a 2x2 area that will hold 8 plants in each unit with net pots and grow rocks.
Each unit has its own purpose. The first unit takes the first 8 clones and two weeks later the clones get moved to unit two and new clones are added to unit one. Two weeks later clones from unit 2 move to unit 3 and unit 1 moves to unit 2 then a fresh new batch is added to unit 1. Eight clones fill each of the four hydro units and are staggered bi weekly so I’ll be harvesting eight plants every two weeks. Each hydro unit has it's own ppm for the different stages of growth besides unit four which has plain water for flushing.

I have a picture I made on paint but don't know how to chang the format. so well have to use our imaginations.

The grow will happen in my current cab.

I figure If I can get 7 grams per plant it will equal to 2oz every 2 weeks. That would be the half pound i'm trying to hit right now under the screen.

If I can end up with 14 grams off each one thats one pound every 2 months!!!! So I ask you, do you have any advice for anyone trying to use your method using hydro in such a small space?? Do I need to give the seven and eight week plants more room than the 5 to 6 week plants and cram 1-2 and 3-4 week plants together so there's better light distrubution. I read in one of your posts if you try to grow the plants all together it won't work.

I would like to know what you think ASAP because my dedline in in three weeks and I need to buy supplies. I will also post the progress on your thread so everyone can compaire the two grows under different systems and lighting. if you don't mind.

Great grow, can't wait to try it.

I've got a question - I don't see any light traps in your cabinet, how do you avoid the light leaking from the veg area up top to the flower area before? I'm currently in the middle of modifying my cab to have a seperate veg area and i've constructed a light trap but feel it might be a bit restrictive. Do you run into any issues with the veg light leaking through those holes and disrupting the flowering plants?

Thanks, my moms are a little small right now but I think I can snag about eight cutting from her and I’m going to put them in the cloner tonight so they'll be rooted about a week after the DW x GB roots show. When that happens I'll throw the Kalimist in first because they stretch and take 10 weeks to finish wile my DW x GB can veg for another week because they stretch but not like the Kali. Start the countdown harvest in my box should be the 19th of next month and I’ll keep everyone updated on the building progress of the hydro system in this thread. I still haven’t decided what to do about fitting another cloner in my box or just build one of those tight ass PC cases I’ve seen around here and make it a clone factory.Time is a little tight though.

truly amazing doc. after reading this thread, i'm going to attempt a similar SOG. I have 800 watts in a 4x4x8 area. i'm thinking of using 6" square pots and just filling the whole area up. any suggestions for that type of setup?

First off,WELCOME!!!!!!!!!

Always good having older boy's like me here!@IC..
Would like to add a little tip for the folks too.....
UNDER CFL lighting plants DO NOT stretch as they can
under the HPS,or the sun hahaha a wonderous benifit of CFL's!!!!!
Another tip for the folks,in the tests i found you cant use less
then 23w CFL's 20W or less just doesnt get it for budding????

Dr. GOOD SHOW,but the numbers like 5grm's a watt still blow me away?
Even 2,78 or what ever are fanatical for getting use of lights proper!!!!
Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzz are you shure!!!...now you got ME thinking a test!
Myself i have shown the folks here a nice test and lesson on (How low lumens)
CAN grow GREAT buds good as any 1000w bulb easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE take time and search threw my 75 page gallery and see my CFL nugz!!
The tests that i did showed how low you can get and STILL GROW DANKS!
1200 tiny lumens,or using small 27 to 32w consumtion bulbs at 1 to 5 inches away..
The buds i grew where just great to smoke and show, hard as rocks covered well
in resins the pics DO show the frost in MASSIVE amounts take a look in my gallery!

THe one thing i was telling folks differently was to hang the bulbs down and grow
your buds a up and around the bulbs using the full lenght of the bulbs..........
Also placing them very very close,1 to 5 inches MAX distance away for best results(but yours are 42w)
in growing glorious trichome productions!!!!!.....i found the CFL's grow trichomes
more comfortably than HPS bulbs can sometimes hahahahahahha amazing isnt it!!

NOW im going to try the perpetual thing and see what can be had from it???
Seen your bud shot in flower pics or some place but just read this whole thread!
STILL buddy those numbers baffle me a bit,im not about yield in small places???
Got plenty of ROOM outdoors and indoors, but i always love doing tests.........
Cool story how your in the mountains an all haha really cool, batteries????

WEll what can i say, this could be one of the best threads ive seen in a while!
Proof of the pudding would just kick my butte......

Dutchgrown, your so accurate and quick WOW!

DR.again please go threw my gallery if you dont already know me?
Been doing this 30 years non-stop..........................................................

Thanks for the prompt response Dr. I will be trying perlite for my next batch of clones. Seems to me that clones take about a month until they show roots outside of my cubes. I'm not sure if the cubes I'm using are just extra dense or what. I guess there's nothing wrong with taking the clones a month before throwing them into the flower cab, but on principle I feel like it ought to be more like 2 weeks.

Also as a side note, how warm do you keep your cloning area?

The Bulbs under them keep them warm....they are above the mothers

I'm thinking a heating pad wouldn't work well under perlite, do you use something else to keep them warm? (I think mine are just too cold...it's hard to keep them much above 70F this time of year.)

EDIT:

since I have a lot of clones now I could probably just start tossing in one a week and see how my particular strain does at different starting heights. So I could throw in a 1.5" clone this week, a 3" clone next week, etc.

Good luck

2.78 is with my current Pheno............."Big Bud" did way more SOG under a 1000 in the 80's......But If you been at it for 30 years I'm sure you saw her "She suxed for Buzz"
My favorite for this was M48 from SSSC

Yup Batteries 28 of them now (just bought 6 more from somebody that could not finish the winter up here)thru inverters gives us "All the Comforts".......28 miles away from the closest powerline

Wow DrBudGreengenes your living my dream man :) i cant wait for another 10years to pass by.. I should be in your shoes :p Cant fucking wait :p

A little off topic.. BUT Im fully interested in battery powering a house.. I dont want to fucking pay some penny grubbing company to give me power when I want to use Solar panels, and water power(I want to live by a stream or river :p)

Mind giving us your specs and what now? Maybe a few pics if safe...Like is your setup to were, only a few batterys are used at a time, then once those die FULLY another group kick in then those last ones are charged up..? Im 100% doing same thing when I get bit older :p

Thanks man

Thats awesome. With this style of grow could you do it with any plant or would you need a certain strain?

So every time you water your plants you give them water with feed and other stuff in it? Is there any time you give it straight water? I dunno, just confused because on I read "They are fed 4-droppers full of Schultz 10-15-10 ,1 Tbsp. Fish Emultion, and 4 drops SuperThrive per Gallon of water everytime I water". Also what do you recommend a good soil mix I could do on my own or something that I would be able to buy already mixed to help with yields and growth conditions overall. I too grow with clones and doing a perpetual harvest type thing. I'm hoping for at least 6 oz/grow with this 250w lol. This is my first time doin a SOG though.

what up? what do you think of mothers in a perlite vermiculite mix..compared to soil. was thinking they may grow faster and be more productive in giving clones...

Hey Military, I think I may have some information about your questions that may lead to you doing more research and finding the answers you seek. No disrespect to the Dr. I'm sure any info he provides will be far more accurate and detailed.

Basically its like this. I have a cousin. He feels the same way you do Military, and already has 20 D battery cells he picked up from a guy. These suckers are big, like bigger than a car battery big. Right now they are hooked up through a inverter(converter?) for 120V and like 400W or total power, with a solar cell charging them. He told me his crazy idea, so 100% of the credit for this goes to him. He is using the telephone lines. They pump out a constant 15 amps or something, and basically with the converter hooked up, he is drawing his hot water and phones and television and cable box off the phone right now. Since the phone company pumps the amps through constantly, there is no disruptions or noticeable effect. To date he has had no phonecalls, visits from technicians, or anything. He plans on eventually hooking up more solar, and a wood burning stove hooked upto an air/water exchange that will heat the floor and hot water, similar to what drgreengenes is doing now. I am not a pro, and the basic outline I have provided is about the extent of my knowledge on the subject, and some is probably inaccurate or numbers are off. All I know is that his seems to work, and this thread shows others have made it work and with enough knowledge and preparation, one can totally do some crazy stuff off with an off-grid goal in mind.

Nice thanks swurv :p Just some more to add to what Ill know in a few years.. Like when Im going to do it with my house, It will all be planed and blueprinted before the start even.. So pretty much the entire house will be stand alone.. i say FUCK THE USA and there fucking taxes.. And fuck the electric companys also... Even if I still have to get Gas< i wouldnt mind, because Id get a natural gas generator :p Cost about $70k for a good one that could light up an entire block :p but well worth it haha.

Just still waiting for Dr's Response :p if hes willing to share the love that is.. If not totally understandable.

Sure I will give ya a quick rundown
First we have.....
28-6 volt Trojan L-16's Deep-cycle Batteries....110lbs each they run about $299.99 each right now......$8399.99 +TX
2-Inverters a 300 and a 1000 watt any power needed more than triggers the "Genny" in less than 1/2 second.......she stays on until the load is gone and is putting 200Amps back into the batteries the whole time it is on providing power......the Batteries are hooked together to form 2 large 6 volt batteries that are then tied together into 1 HUGE 12 volt power cell......that must NEVER drop below 12.5 volts or you are KILLING it.....my batteries are charged to 14.1volts every 2 days and see 15.3volts for 1 hour per week my bank should last for 10-12 years .........this is NOT cheap or EZ

D cells.....Never heard of them
L-16's
T-105's
those are the standard
Anything else is a waste of $$$$
2 volt ,4 volt,6 volt..........NEVER 12 volt batteries

he picked up from a guy.

Never use second hand batteries(you do not know how they were cared for(1-3 pulls to low and their life is cut in 1/2.....and there is NO way to test for this)......unless they are 2 volt

Water heater......uses 4,500 to 11,000 watts
TV is 70-350 watts
Phone is 15-30 watts
Cable box....35 watts
it was "Belivable" without the water heater.....do yer' math
15 amps is 1,500 watts people would DIE from wet phones all the time...............I don't think yur friend has his #'s right
