Columbian Gold 72

As for me I have two females and two males. I noticed that the males had wider leaves than females. All plants had the same smells and appearances, very stable, inbred line. Now that the flowering I can start to note some differences between the two females: one is shorter in size and internodes, smells stronger, very tropical fruity and is heading towards a strawberry smell. The other one is longer, more vigorous (easier to clone as well), I never saw more than 7 fingers on her and the smell is more discreet, among the tropical fruit is emerging an oliban/frankincense smell...my favorite so far.
All phenos have narrow leaves, not as extreme as some haze types but definitively in the tropical range of the NLD spectrum...

Sounds similar to mine. I've only gotten males so far and nothing with super thin leaves yet but all on the thinner side. I also had up to max 7 blades too. I got two green types and two with purple/red on the stems with one having color through the flowers :)

I am certainly curious about this line and I want to check if it is different from Coljam or not
After 48 hours I got 5 out of 5 to show roots
From Coljam I had 66% showing roots. And seed size is different in both lines
Hopefully they will sprout and will be happy plants

Some people still have seeds and are breeding with it.
I certainly intend to make more seeds out of them and probably do some crosses too, but calling this amateur seedmaking spirit with such a big word as breeding sounds too pompous, I little bit too much I am afraid. I am just like a little kid with a new toy, breeding is for pros

The Colombian in ColJam isn't Colombian Gold 1972. It's a Colombian Gold 1980. ;)

Certainly, and Satva made it very clear about the pedigrees
But I got from a seedbank Coljam being sold for CG72 and I am not the only one to have been sold that, this is the reason why I am making the explicit differences in the explanation

Which seedbank?

are you saying you purchased cg72 and it's actually coljam? If others have got coljam instead of CG72 why would it be a mistake of the seedbank?

Can you explain i'm not following what's happening here

Hi Mike
I am not accusing you of doing it purposedly, in fact your service was excellent as opposed to the other USC distributors

I got Coljam from 2 different sources which cooperated in the distant past with USC and I got CG72 from you and TSCo

I run the seeds I bought from you and Coljam I bought from TSCo last year and happened to be the same thing, the same strain

After seeing Cristalin posts on Instagram about this I think he purposedly eliminated CG72 from the catalog and replaced it with Coljam and he is selling it under the CG72 label
I hope this is clear, I have no problems with you at all and no problems with Cristalin either. Then only problem is it is becoming increasingly difficult to trace seeds correctly as time passes by

Have a nice weekend everybody

@Funkyhorse I was only curious to find out what you meant that is all, no finger pointing from me at all. Now I see what you mean

I have some older backups of CG72 what your welcome too, when I am back up and running from 2017 maybe late 2016 need to check excel. But I am not sure if they will coincide with the dates of the allege change.

I will leave it there as this is not something I can address personally.

Thanks again for clarifying

Well the last repro by JGL was underway in April of 2015 according to the opengro forum.

Maybe different parental plants were used in the different repro's?

The Colombian Gold 1972 seeds from JGL last reproduction come from 7 females and 6 males. Unless he made another one after that post that is.

Somebody in Canada game him those seeds a while back. Here's a post JGL made elsewhere about it in French. :tiphat:

CG72 USC whorled phillotaxy
This is the second time I see this, the other one is Fighting Buddha. In both cases they show less vigor than the rest of the strain, hopefully both will make it through this stage

I just noticed a vanilla note developing on top of the frankincense smell, it does looks like a mix of frankincense and benzoin incense, lovely !

Well it looks I crapped out on the '72 CG. Last 3 plants seemingly all show male pre-flowers. That makes it 7/7 males for me! :(

Not sure what's going on here either I got some masculinized seed or gender is environmentally controlled with this line. Not sure I fully understand but Tom Hill discusses it in his thread, x-to-auto.

My default soil is Canna terra pro so possibly a little to high in N but plants seemed to grow fine n healthy. Also intense UV and dry climate where I'm at too.

I'm pretty bummed about it but do have some Snowhigh Golden King to go through to hopefully find some of that Colombian goodness.

How's everyone else's Cg '72 going? Mike Tea you must be close to harvest by now? And funkhorse how's the whorly one going?

I started a cg72 using 12/12 light schedule from seed in an attempt to control growth. Well, so much for that theory!! When I left for the holidays, it had maxed out my 6’ grow box. Unfortunately, however, at 2 months it has yet to reach flower stage. This one may be a bust. I’ll get some pix when I return home.

^^^ I think it's recommended a 11/13 or a 10/14 light cycle to flower this one.

Also quicker to flower from clone than seed.

Dude, please try topping or training..cut some clones...don't give up..you may get a real old fashioned sativa.
