Colorado House Bill 1284

Really one of the funniest parts of this bill is the people on our side screaming for regulation, are the biggest crooks..

I would say that the majority of these big clubs have 70-80% out of state herb on their shelves..

It goes the other way as well.

I know for a fact that PAP out of L.A. is selling to underground dealers in other states. (That are NOT cannabis states)

You're quite correct. The crime corporations are pushing these B.S. regulations. Wake up people!

I would say that the majority of these big clubs have 70-80% out of state herb on their shelves.. Why don't we start addressing that issue, or how about the selling of patients, there are so many other things that need to be looked at before I feel that a bill like this will do any good at all..

How about we take a little longer than 4-5 months to come up with a bill that will crush this new booming economy that also happens to be about helping people..
Exactly! That is complete fucking crookery selling people rec's like they are a stack of bad mortgages. How about the 8 month waiting list to get an actual card so the cops don't "cuff first, ask questions later". Or the privacy protection for patients? I wouldn't trust some of these kids running a disp with my used fucking magazines, much less my personal medical info.

This bill is a way to force indie growers to collaborate with a dispensary (make them easier to track tax inspect and drop dimes if need be). Just like we've seen, the DEA will conduct raids, steal all the equipment, and walk away. I really believe though that many parts of this bill would be ruled unconstitutional.

That reality is becoming more apparent to me the more clubs I go to with 60+ 1/8ths seriously wtf is that. I've paid less money in NYC!

Dank...$$ sure can make people change their tunes... I think Warren is just here hoping to get some more clients/$$

Exactly. I cant see how anyone can support this especially with the DEA popping a commercial grow just a few days ago. If this bill passes and the DEA continues to go after these grows it will be the end of MMJ in Colorado. Meanwhile people like Edson gets them coming and going. Its no coincidence that this raid happened two days after the house passed 1284, and its no coincidence the raid was not mentioned at all in the mainstream news.

I have said it before and I will say it AGAIN, give it 2 years and it will be "survival of the fittest". After a few years, the dispensaries who sell shitty Cali grown weed will be out of business. All these amateur "growers" will be in debt and will have swim their way out. They won't be able to sell their sub-par meds so they will be forced out of business. Only the best dispensaries and the best growers will be left standing. BUT, its all about the $$$, not the patients.

I think there are a lot of us who will continue to do what we do for the same reasons we always have, regardless of HBxxxx, for the love of cannabis and making people happy. Only the best disp being left, yeah I agree, but that will be inevitable regardless, that's capitalism. If the shops here quit carrying Cali OD then that's a win in my book.

Don't get me wrong, I hate this bill, but some of these outcomes will be inevitable.

Well....here's to hoping that some lawyer will fight this on constitutional grounds...tying it up in the courts for years before it can actually become law!

Currently most growers are operating illegally. They either do not have a direct relationship with their patient, do not provide wellness services, rely on the caregiver to caregiver exchange, are violating zoning rules ie. if you are growing it to sell you are involved in commercial production and probably required to have a nursery license and a plant husbandry use permit, or are directly selling to patients without a retail sales tax license.

Current dispensary employees are questionably covered, current grow employees probably are not covered at all.

There is currently little testing and no consistency to strains or strain names. Patients have no idea what is going into the mj and much of it is left overs from out of state. People throw around the word "organic" without one of you actually having USDA certification. Not one. You realize you need that to use the word right?

How is this good for the patients again?

You can't have it both ways. You keep bitching about California and California weed. If 1284 were passed, all the mj would have to come from Colorado, no more Cali weed. Can't make sure of that without inventory and inspections.

It would be tested and labeled. Patients would actually know what they were getting and then strain x in one place is strain x in another. Employees would have a card giving them a solid defense. The caregiver/caregiver exchange problem would be fixed.

I keep saying over and over again that I do not like the felon ban or the ban on on site use. I keep hoping the separate license for a "vapor lounge" type facility will work its way through. Because these are statutory defenses, the municipal challenge is unavoidable due to home rule.

This is far more progressive than any other piece of state mj legislation.

Yea people like me come and go..... how long have you been apart of the Colorado marijuana movement? I am one of the few who haven't come and gone.

Is the state gonna protect all these growers from the feds once there are 100+ plant grows in place all throughout the city.. The story of Eddy Lepp is a consent reminder to me and many others that are in this industry as well.. To me this seems like a way to round up a big group of people, to keep all these nice, new, prisons full.

The prison industry is a pretty large part of the colorado economy, at least in certain parts of the state.

yeah this is total bs and does not need to be regulated this way. sure the rules where really loose but alot of the problems we had would have worked them selves out overtime . like how most disps sell horrible product this is true but that kinda thing will work its self out overtime once you have enough disps in a area and more then enough growers wanting to supply them with meds. with the recent changes i cant see how this will ever increase the quality of the meds out here how could it your taking away almost all compition for the ones who are left plus a million permits and organic certifications does not make your meds good by itself in anyway. all i see is disps rocking out big bud or heavy duty fruity or something else lame and selling it for as much or more then stuff is going around now . atleast you had a choice theres tons of disps one place doesnt have meds to your liking we have the choice to go somewhere else . you wont have this option when 95% of the disps are close and basically your at there mercy so i bet there prices for there commercial crud but its omri certified atleast lol will be what ever the hell they feel like charging you. how is any of this good? if we want good meds for the patients how bout try to increase the amount of competition so people have to grow good meds to sell there product and educating the average med user somethin tells me printing a lil booklet with actual good advise in it would do more good then this crazy ass bill does.

One of the bigger organizations, I'm sure, will be challenging the Bill on various issues...I have a feeling it will be tied up in the courts....at least that is what I am hoping. I will donate $$ to the org. that does.

Why wouldn't the patients like the lower cost associated with larger grows ? Most of the truly sick patients I deal with could care less about botique/elite strains. They care more for good quality, clean, and low cost. The "stoners with recs" on the other hand, only buy the latest top shelf elite.

uh, the last time i checked...the prices weren't any different on the retail OR on the wholesale market distinguishing between dirty unloved commercial setups and well cared for dirt grown, harvested in the nude swollen crystals. (for the most part) and if there is a difference in $$, it ain't much. and 'most of the truly sick patients you have' are not marijuana professionals and are probably only familiar with AK-47 and Blueberry...
it is your job, as alleged professional, to educate your sick patients as to the benefits of some of these 'boutique' strains. that is, of course, if it is your intent to truly provide high-quality, low-cost meds to your patients.
boutique/elite strains are good quality (although i'm not sure why anybody would ever strive to be just good. isn't that like striving to be in second place, i digress), clean, and low cost...they are the same costs as all the rest and the folks that truly want to help, don't care that they don't have the same yields as that AK that you (proverbial usage) are peddlin', because you know what....sometimes it IS about the quality of the meds, and if you got half a heart and brain, you can yield plenty tyvm.

warren - why does this bill not allow somebody with a felony for marijuana possession grow for a dispensary? but somebody who rapes a 2 year old baby can grow for a dispensary? If people like us never stuck out necks out, I really wonder where certain dispensary owners would be today?

this bill is clearly written with the wrong intentions

i like you as a person. I used to really like your ideas towards this MMJ movement, but not so much anymore. Then again, this has really opened my eyes

this type of bill makes me regret ever contributing anything to the CO MMJ community. This shit is biting me in the A$$

There they go again, throwing the people under the bus that have worked hard to protect this plant! Isn't there something in the US Constitution about getting charged twice for the same crime?

What happened of the moonshiners that became Jim Beam when it became legal again?

Agreed I know long before I was legal my services were utilized by certain businesses in the area..

Shit you had to be damn near on your death bed for the first 4-5 years this law was on books to get any doc to right you a rec.. The only thing that changed recently is that Colorado finally got some docs that aren't scared to right recommendations to people other than AIDS and cancer patients..

I have a pretty severe mobility issue caused by crushed/herniated discs in my lower back, and there was no way 5 years ago I could have found a Doc that would write me a mmj rec, prescription drugs all day long , cannabis no fucking way. So now it is possible for more people like myself to qualify, but many of us have copped a charge before becoming legal.

Really one of the funniest parts of this bill is the people on our side screaming for regulation, are the biggest crooks..

but it won't. The reality is that people see where his intentions really lay nowdays compared to 3 years ago

Certain dispensaries (that suck and rely on his model) would love his ideas....but i bet that 99.999999999% of GROWERS and PATIENTS fucking hate his new 2010 "hb1284" ideas.

I have said it before and I will say it AGAIN, give it 2 years and it will be "survival of the fittest". After a few years, the dispensaries who sell shitty Cali grown weed will be out of business. Its such a hypocrisy really!!! Politicians (especially the conservative ones) fight for supposed "small government", little interference in their "free market system", ask us to have faith in capitalism, banks, and the Federal Reserve. I don't know how many times I've heard of some Republican talking about deregulation, letting the market smooth itself out. However, when it comes to marijuana, they can't seem to keep their noses out of it. I am confident, given enough time, that the market will smooth itself out, and the people will want good quality over poor imported Cali bud, and all the new idiots will tap out and it will be over with. But as long as they media keeps hyping everything, and there is this impression of a "gold rush", every greedy idiot will be trying to take part.

The beauty of the black market was not only a certain ethic as I've described, but it is/was the only TRUE free market economy! As in, prices were controlled directly by supply and demand, and in most cases, consumers paid for what they wanted. Yes, there were always certain risks associated with it, and often times, black market growers took certain shortcuts (short drying time, stealing power, etc), there was however NO governing body overseeing prices, and prices seemed to standardize on their own simply by the producer and the consumer!

Now every greedy bastard in a suit wants a piece of our hardwork...

The state wants $2100 for every additional 100 amps brought into a facility. quote]

Show me where you got this from????! and again...where do u get you info from regarding co-ops? They are "expressly" forbidden in HB1284.

If you are going to spout out a bunch of bullshit...then ya better be able to show your sources!!
Just wanted to set the record straight. First of all the bill fucking states that no two CAREGIVERS can co-op. Im talking about co-oping with dispensaries and licensed growers. Second my info about what it will cost to bring in amps is what I got from the city of ft collins. Maybe they don't know what they're talking about.
All of my info comes from multiple sources and well respected lawyers in CO. Im not just running around spouting my mouth off putting up 400+ posts in a few months. YOU CAN SUCK MY DICK and keep growing pot in your basement. It wont last long. :comfort:
Who the fuck do you think your are? This is why I'm not on this site anymore. What are the dispensaries giving you for your closet weed buddy?

Oh, and the info I gave out weeks ago the day of the hearing was from..... guess what? The hearing itself. I was fucking listening to it live. I was offering the info as just that. Info. Im not your fucking lawyer, and I wouldnt expect you to say "bowlpacks said it was cool, officer, what the fuck?" YOU sir are an asshole and, from the combination of the amount of posts you have in such a short period of time, and other tell tail signs, your riding on OUR coattails. We've been here for years and years, doing our thing. You didnt even know what a hydro store looked like until last summer. PRICK
Check it out I've been here under this name since 06. Two screen names before that and on OG years before that. I know people here. You ruin it for everybody.
I know its exciting to be able to buy clones from a store and have the guy at the counter tell you how to grow it, then hop on here and be like "look how many lights I can run on the outlets in a bedroom and a bathroom!", but you should calm down and go outside. HAHAHAHA It's nice this time of year...
Oh yeah, and why don't you smoke some weed or something. That should take the prick right out of your attitude/mouth.
