Umm. Where?

in the documentary "the scientist" raphael mechoulum talks about hash from the late 60's and early 70's having "high" cbd rates (5% or so), that implies that landrace drug type varieties had (and probably still DO have) those traits & the potential for those traits to surface in breeding.

i think it's very important to note that breeding for higher CBD trait does not only come from hemp, there are ruderalis, sativa AND indica varieties that have potential for CBD rates at and above 5%

BTW - ya snowing by me right now... looks like most of the state is getting blanketed.

Many of the hashish samples in the 1960's included feral cultivars. This led to the higher CBD amounts. Many of the afghanica samples tested by small, beckstead and turner showed high amounts of THC and few with high CBD or detectable amounts.

I think this is the key.

In traditional hash producing operations, huge open fields are planted from seed, within that population of seeds, a certain percentage will express as thc dominant (the vast majority), a smaller percentage will be balanced between thc and cbd, and an even smaller percentage will express as cbd dominant. Mash all those together? You get a hashish with more significant amounts of cbd than what we typically see from our own home made hashishes... hashes? hashishi? Concentrates by any other name.

CBD rich drug cultivar types might be the next generation of elites.

I understand why breeders crossed to ruderalis. The autoflowering trait is useful to a lot of growers in less than optimum circumstances. The best of them produce altogether decent cannabis & will only get better w/ more work.

OTOH, I suspect that the notion breeders are crossing hemp to drug strains for more CBD is an urban stoner legend. If they are, so what? Those strains won't be marketed as drug cannabis, anyway.

Thus That hash is coming from thousands(or hundred thousands +) of different plants, compared to the few that are used today. Most hash today will be from just one plant, just like all of those seeds that we buy in those breeder packs came from one plant, one female plant(not counting the male plant).

Drove to the Springs to look at some outdoor, big mistake, looked like outdoor from the 80s years ago, stems and leaves everywhere.

Funniest Part? "We want 1800 / lb, firm"

Got back into the city and people were fighting eachother to sell us their indoor.

Croptober, pffft.

So many people growing subpar weed, and here I am responding to trolls, wtf was I thinking?

Every single grower deserves for their grow to produce premium product.

I will expand my services, I will sell more clones, I will teach more clients, and continue to learn. The goal? Every clone is an elite, every grow produces fire.

The mouse that gnawed the oak-tree down
Began his task in early life.
He kept so busy with his teeth
He had no time to take a wife.

He gnawed and gnawed through sun and rain
When the ambitious fit was on,
Then rested in the sawdust till
A month of idleness had gone.

He did not move about to hunt
The coteries of mousie-men.
He was a snail-paced, stupid thing
Until he cared to gnaw again.

The mouse that gnawed the oak-tree down,
When that tough foe was at his feet--
Found in the stump no angel-cake
Nor buttered bread, nor cheese, nor meat--
The forest-roof let in the sky.
"This light is worth the work," said he.
"I'll make this ancient swamp more light,"
And started on another tree.
was the drive enjoyable?
The drive was moderately enjoyable, we were able to observe a storm breaking over the mountains and it was quite pretty.

Not the bomb huh?

First year outdoor crop?

Cuttings from a retail store?
Phew, well, first year outdoor would explain the bad trim, the branches in the bags, the cuttings from a store would explain the lack of odor or potency, so you may have hit the nail on the head.

Colorado is not the most hospitable environment for fully flowering cannabis in. I'm not sure how many different growing zones Colorado has, but you can travel 30 min, 1hour, 2hours and be in a different growing zone. If you have 20 females all from one cutting, they will all finish at the same time. This time of year 1-2 weeks time puts you close to that first frost/freeze of the year. Some plants just wont finish in some locations.

One year I grew two plant on the hill side and wasn't until close to thanksgiving that they where ready and they took 40 something degree temps (but they acclimated to the temps)

May I ask which strains were best at withstanding the cold?
