The guy who did the testing for the harvest fest said he would test anything for $40. I have seriously got to get up and look up his business...I think it was CB1 something??? He claims to be part of the group that does the High Times Cannabis Cup but who knows???
The guy doing the testing said something I know NOTHING about. He was saying that running the GC on buds that weren't completely dry will diminish their results. He didn't do something to desiccate the samples because of time constraints for the Fest. This means that over half of his results are WAY below their true cannabinoid counts. The H2O makes them fall off short of true values???
According to the tester my 14.3 total can. count might actually be in the 20% range when cured.
The highest of about 20% was also wet so he guesses that it is actually 27-28%. Is this kind of variance really possible??? I thought GC was a little more accurate than that???

gc works by heating the sample up and decarboxilating it as it goes thru the column, you may get lower overall numbers but i find they are more inline with numbers i see (hash yields etc)
Machinery like hplc that can test for acidics is where you sometimes see crazy high numbers like 30%. I'm suspect as even a strain like gorilla glue which can put out close to 30% resin by weight it still depends on the grow and moisture content. And can vary from 20-30% depending on grower, harvest, moisture etc. that being said most strains are not even 20% total 15-19% is most common.

i LIKE the dude nate from cb1.... but the only time i had tests done there they results were not satisfactory.... supposed to have 4 results, got only 2. one was a hash sample i only wanted residual testing, got potency instead....
duno if nate @CB1 has gotten his shit together more lately (i dealt with him over a year ago), but it was a lil too much like dealing with a stoner/broker....

You are close on your description of Gas Chromatography. Decarbing may occur during the heating but the column is there to catch the distillates in decreasing weight molecules the farther you go up the column until all of the individual molecules are separated and caught. I use to run a couple of different types in the 90s. I don't understand where they are getting accurate percentage of materials in this...But I am 20+ years out of date with that tech.
Gorilla Glue was one of the higher strains at the fest. I think I may have to try to hunt down a cut of that for a test run.
But my question is (my own stupid fault for not stating it better) can a bud that is at say 20% moisture content test out at about 10-12% THC then later after it cures to about 5% moisture test out at close to 20% THC? Can moisture make that much difference in the testing? I just can't see it in a GC myself. Maybe in a solvent extraction or maybe even an IR (which is useless for amount in sample), but I can't see how it effects a GC???

there should be an equation for the moisture content, a lot of the labs will list that on the test. I think that plays into some of the numbers you see on paper. It will throw the numbers off on a 100mg sample if its still 20% moisture but the water shouldn't be an issue once the sample is in solution except for the weight.

I don't think it would be 10-12 then up to 20% but it could be 15-20% then after it cures it may be 25%

Hard Candies and Chocolates seem like the obvious winners since easily shapable silicone is the standard in those fields, baked goods might be trickier, they'll probably end up with an edible "printed" label of some kind, not sure if the med will buy a warning label in frosting or sprinkles.

LMFAO @ personal drama, my clone / consultation flyers were stolen out of Grofax on Colfax by someone who is very jelly, someone who was caught on camera and is now very banned from that chain of stores, hope it was worth it, cost me... $8 for that many flyers, and only cost you the ability to patronize the #2 grow store chain in the state, you sure showed me!

There are ways it can be done, you could get powdered sugar that has had a green food color added to it and get a sifter that is in the shape of a pot leaf. some things will be harder to stamp or mark.
But that said I haven't seen anything saying that the state has mandated that the edible must be stamped/marked. Although it's not hard to imagine them doing this.
