Colorado Growers Thread

OK Colorado growers, new topic here......

Let me ask your opinions...
With so many people getting into the industry, and big name companies with millions of $s at that. Do you ever see the bottom filling out of the market? I mean units are dropping pretty cheap these days, has it affected you?
Myself I have been basement growing here for 20 years now and the price has went from 4k$ or even 4200$ to now greenhouse units as cheap as 1600 or less......has it affected you in any way and do you see the price dropping even more?

Prices will continually drop, but along with that so will the quality. Until big companies start utilizing completely self sustainable practices they will not be able to produce the highest quality at the lowest price. By sustainable I mean having your own farm animals for compost, growing your own amendments, creating your own castings and leaf mold. Using solar panels or creating biochar for heat/energy, wind turbines for electricity and all other forms of sustainability which become countless. Sure, greenhouses exist and operate at 5% of the indoor growers energy costs, but once you become fully self sustainable your greenhouses could operate at 5% of their 5% and you will also have higher quality.
All form of nutrients undergoes a degradation process once harvested from a plant. If you can localize such nutrients to your own farm, quality will continually be higher than the competition.

Not to go all hippie on your ass, but I tend to follow the philosophy that plants feel your emotions and respond to your touch. Less plants means more love. If you had 5 kids your love is more easily concentrated whereas if you had 500 kids the aforementioned love would be spread way too thin. Less is more in this case.

There will always be a place for us. As more and more Americans smoke pot there will be a rise in connoisseur genetics just as you have noticed a rise in connoisseur liquors, wines and beers. I prefer a craft beer over a bud light ergo I will always choose your weed over a dispensary's.

Fewer plants, sustainable practices, genetic hunting and experimentation will keep you in the game.

There will always be a place for us. Just my 2 cents.

Even though some marijuana being sold at Colorado's stores is often twice and sometimes even three times as strong as consumers might expect, regulators don't limit the potency. Instead, those decisions are left entirely up to the buyer.

Because marijuana strains aren't patented or trademarked, stores can call the strains anything they want. There's no guarantee you're getting what you're buying because growers aren't DNA testing their strains. And federal trademark and patent enforcers don't step into the marijuana marketplace the way they can with knock-off products like cellphone cases or handbags.

It aint broke... please dont regulate it until it is...

prices are no different then 10-15 years ago when the canucks where flooding the market, $100 an oz is going rate with all this production.

If anything i've been seeing an increase in price on top quality products, with the market being flooded with b and c grade crap its easy to produce boutique quality and get more money.

When I went to the stores in Denver, the product was sub-par. Just a buncha guys growing nice strains with GH Flora series. How come its so easy to pick out stuff grown with GH?

Glad to be able to enjoy it, though. Fuck jail.

Yes, Denver quality is crap.

Gee... everyone says mine is organic, until I clue them in that I use GH Flora. Wonder what the GH guys you know are doing? Probably what most on icmag are doing. lol

It's not the nutes, as long as they're decent. It's the grower. :)

What a rip, eh?

p.s. L'Eagle is all organic and they have the best of the crap in Denver that I found. Don't tell them that, they think it's great stuff. *shrug*

most places are using botaincare and not gh, that soapy flavor is common in a lot of shops in denver.

I have noticed the same thing. Went to at least 50 shops in under a year when I had my card….all the same strains, all the same stale, soapy flavor. Only every once in awhile would something stand out to me. I really liked Herbal Cure. Nothing of theirs was too special, but there were always a good amount of terpenes in their product. Natural Remedies (the best shop in the state) produces extremely potent buds, but hardly ever with flavor. Best looking buds in any shop I've seen, but they leave much to be desired.

The soapy flavor isn't the nutes.

The only time you taste anything other than cannabis in my bud is when I screw up. I never spray anything during flower. Not even water.

Natural Alternatives is the only dispo I have ever bought flowers from , Ft. Collins , real organic meds , heady strains done right ......not in denver but if ever in the Northern Colorado area worth a stop

I've never been into the 'inner sanctum' of Dispensary, as I've never had a card.

So I certainly can't comment on specific stores. That said, whien I compare my stuff to what I've seen that has been purchased from them, I'm not ashamed of the bud that I've grown so far.

And since it's just for me and mine, my opinion counts. :^)

Colo compliant, and strictly recreational.
