Actually i am stateing that it can be a problem for both treated and un-treated because everyone is still fighting about fed vs. state law. The only way to prevent getting into that fight (mostly anyway) is to have ownership of the rights and not lease them.

I hven't been to Zollmans since Tommy Carleo died in 2008...I need to go again. I have family who have farmed and ranched here for over a century. From Cotapaxi to Las Animas and from Calhan to Walsenburg. None of them really care to guess which way the fights are going to go yet And most don't seem to care. But do be aware that water is an ongoing problem trough-out the state and not covering your acccess to it could end you.

It looks like the Pueblo West board (they are more of an home owner association that got too full of itself) is gearing up to fight the county over shops and grows now. But so far they are not finding the power to enforce anything. Those idiots have been a problem since they were formed...i never understood why anyone would be dumb enough to move into that place...i guess they don't realise the problem till after they are neck deep in it. What i hope to prevent for others looking to move here.

I think we're on the same page, really. I figure that if Mrgoodbudz can find a place on the mesa with integrated ditch water rights that he'd probably be good at least for the summer months, anyway. Lots of places out there have wells, too, although many don't provide good drinking water because of Ag chemicals leaching down into the perched water table over decades.

As you say, the advice of a water lawyer would be very important in any event.

I hardly know anybody in Pueblo anymore other than my family, having moved to Denver in the early 70's. There was a huge exodus of young people as the mill closed down & opportunity dried up.

There are lots of reasons people don't grow pot in this staye
; there is still a stigma surrounding it, its still federally illegal, it can be expensive, all the rules and regulations surrounding it, etc etc. There is no plant count for tomatoes, but there is for weed.I drink a lot of beer but you don't see me setting up a microbrewery in my garage even though I could.

That could be an expensive decision IF you drink a lot of beer.

Boy how i wish i was far enough from prying eyes to let my girls enjoy the straight sunlight. How much gets blocked by solex 5mm? But it has saved them from a few pretty intense storms recently???

that's one way to say it...here's another...

You fill up my senses like a night in a forest,
Like the mountains in springtime,
Like a walk in the rain, like a storm in the desert,
Like a sleepy blue ocean.
You fill up my senses, come fill me again.

Come let me love you, let me give my life to you,
Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms.
Let me lay down beside you, let me always be with you
Come let me love you, come love me again.

Let me give my life to you,
Come let me love you, come love me again.

I screwed up. The day it hailed here I had taken half the roof off my shed for better light. oops...

Long story short. They survived, and now the roof is clear instead of smoked polycarbonate panels. I suspect the hail MUST have been my fault. lol

So in the end it probably is better to loose a little light and keep them from getting pounded into the dirt by extreem downburst, hail or even the occational super downpour???
I have to start building a new roof for my small greenhouse...Is there anything better than the Solex? The 5mm i used for the big one is holding up fine on it's 3rd year. How long can i count it to last? Anyone else out there using Solex? I want to hear experiences with the stuff. I know it was harder to mount than i thought it would be but that might be because i chose 1/2" conduit to build the roof frame and it was hard to get screws into that. They claim it doesn't loose much light but i have never beleived it since you can see a shadow and feel a slight difference on your skin...that must means some light is blocked...doesn't it?

you can see them in my ICMag photo albums.

lol Friend up here said he's been here half his life (he's 80ish now), never seen it hail like that up here since he's been here.

Solex... It seems the reason you can't see through it is it really does diffuse the light. A good thing I'm told, as it won't 'burn' your plants like my clear polycarbonate panels????

I haven't used it myself, but talked to a fellow at a commercial nursery. That was his take on the stuff. Think I might try it next time I do a project. Hopefully by then you'll be the 'voice of experience'.

Happy growing

on edit; I looked at your pics/albums....NICE..... doesn't look like the Solexx blocks too much light. lol I take it the 2012and 2014s are under the Solexx?

Solexx has 60-65% light transmission-

The unique Solexx greenhouse covering transmits 60-65 percent of the available light. Most plants only need 40 percent light to grow, but 60-65 percent available light is the optimal growing range. Even on cloudy days, your greenhouse has a pleasant, soft glow inside.
http://www.solexx.com/solexx-faq.html

Other materials can transmit more, up to 85%-

http://www.greenhousemegastore.com/...polycarbonate/greenhouse-polycarbonate-sheets

That's actually more than many clear materials.

The answer for most small greenhouse construction is conventional framing- 2x4 walls & rafters 16" on center. Diagonal bracing & hurricane straps radically increase wind resistance. Larger hoop styles require different techniques, obviously.

Solexx has advantages if you want to grow over the winter, of course.

I lust for a greenhouse, investigated it at some depth, but I doubt it will ever happen with our postage stamp size back yard.

You may want to check out F-Clean ETFE. Pretty sure that's what a local aquaponics operation uses. Supposed to super high transmission rate yet can't find the actual number. It's pretty thin stuff though.

Put a 5' tall ladder in the middle of your yard. If the light hits at least 60% of it through at least 6 hours and another few in lower percentages then chances are you have enough sun. If you don't want to dig in look at the 55 gal. tubs i used in 2011. BUT be aware those things started desintigrating last October (3years max). I gave them to some-one who used them till then. I did that first grow on a concrete pad. The possabilities of design are only limited by the imagination from what i have seen.
