I know its replicating nature and all that but do you ever fear the roots from the other plants are competing? Im sure youve done it before hence why youre doing it now but just curious. Love building micro ecosystems

Clover is beneficial, fixing nitrogen from the air into the soil, my pots are rather large for my sizes.. but my insects are more my focus hence the rocks to live under and whatnot. The marigolds and other flowering items are to feed pollen to my spider mite predators in the absence of actual spider mites... most of my setup is to ensure breeding colonies of beneficial insects... and I have no problem taking infested clones from people because I have rove beetles everywhere... they are so populated that I see beetles flying around my living room at times.

the beetles are tiny... like fungus gnats, and curl their tails upward... they look like flying seahorses.. but they mostly stay underground.

Here's the Petrolia Headstash male and it's been stress tested a bit. Super root bound and finally started to flower. I re-potted and some foliars and back into veg for a bit. It'll do...

Keif, you might find this interesting. Was cleaning things up for a garage sale and found a box of old hydroponic supplies. Inside the box was a old racquetball can. Inside the can, thousands of seeds from old mexican field-dried pot.

Most likely anyone under 35 has never bought a bag of brown weed with a lot of seeds.

I wish you could post smells on here because the aroma of that old stuff is so unique and different than the green we have enjoyed for so long now. The older guys here know what I am talking about.

The date on the can is 1985 and my guess is the seeds are within a year or two in either direction.

I had a great seed collection that I had saved for years, but lost shortly before legalization. Bumping into this stash salved that heartache just a bit.

Hopefully out of the thousands of seeds here, some still have a spark of life inside.

Oh MHBGuy PLEASE fill me in on how you get those to pop. I found a large tylonol bottle almost completely topped off in canna seeds. These were collected by me from the better bags i bought from 1984 through 1986 when i actually completely quit having anything to do with pot. I didn't start looking at getting back into it untill i found out i had cancer in 2011.

I only put the best of the golds in there but remember that i stashed a lot of what we called hersey kisses in there...I think it is the original Chocolate Thai. Those seeds were few and far bettween but i scrounged all of them i could from friends. I think that i had about 400 in there. If just one of those would pop...MMMMMMMMM!

The rest should make for some good smoke. I use to collect an entire jar of seeds then soak them for 2 days in early June. I would drive into the mountsains and take a nice long hike to a feild i happened across as a kid to selectivly spread them out.

This feild had an underground stream that seeped out of the upper third into a bunch of rivelets untill they reach a cattle pond catch. This had been part of a large ranch untill the old man who owned it packed up to go die back East in the late 70s. I started growing there in 1980.
The soil there was the best i have ever seen. I would spread the seeds all over the feild and litterally not go back near that feild untill September. Sometimes i would start a couple of better plants as well. I would only get about 25 to 35 plants each year(out of over 1000 seeds), with about 10 to 12 being well budded but smokeable, and never real great potancy like i get now, But they were always the talk of every-one i knew. I wish i could buy that feild back from the idiot who owns it now...There are not enough curse words known to man to describe what an idiot this guy is. Everyone in the valley wants this guy dead so it isn't just me. I think half the people in the area have either sued him or been sued by him...he just needs to go...ANYWHERE BUT HERE!

But seriously here folks. These seeds are real PERIOD! 60+ percent look nice and viable. They were stashed in the back of a drawer i totally forgot about in my basement. I have tried a couple of small batches but none have popped. One try was to mix a little clonex with distilled watter to soak them in...No pop. I quitt trying because i realise that i have no idea what i am doing with these...I NEED HELP! I don't want to waste what could be a GIANT oportunity to bring back uncorrupted strains from that long ago...I hope uncorrupted at least.

If anyone who has experience with getting old seeds to pop is interested trying to bring these back please contact me. All i want is some good cuts from anything that pops. But i want some kind of credentials before i just hand any over. Need to make certain they go to the best bossible choice for getting them to pop. But to be honest the only judge i could go by would be the credits from others on this site so PLEASE even if you don't know how to pop these give your opinion on who you think would be most able and yet still willing. Gotta go Joe Walsh coming on...Rocky Mountain Way...

Scarification, lightly carbonated water and straight up scoring with a razor knife have all helped me from one time or another... but no bleach and dioxin filled paper towels....

After your description of planting in the hills, I had to go listen to Rocky Mountain Way!

It's better than the way we had.

I posted a pic a couple days ago of one I have going from a seed that was at least 15+ maybe closer to 20 year old. Just used the paper towel trick with those in a sealed plastic container. It looks like sativa to me and my guess is it came from some decent green commercial that was regularly available for a while.

Will give you a heads up when I try to crack 'em.

And we don't need the ladies
Cryin' 'cause the story's sad

Seaf0ur, your posts are awesome and remind me that there's a lot more to organic than buying a bag of Fox Farms.

I found a similar bag belonging to my father... I found em in a hidden drawer in the carvings around a antique dining room table. popped some back in 1989... Great stuff... wish I knew about cloning back then...

Antique table with a hidden drawer sounds cool too. So the seeds were oldies back in 89? How old do you figure? 60's/70's? Talk about a time machine. Smoking the same herb as Jimi.

That looks mighty tasty and potent krustallos, loving it!

Just a little side question. I live in a town home in thornton. We have tiny backyard, but its right next to everyone elses and very visible, except to street traffic. Would it be illegal to throw a plant out there where it would be fairly obvious to anyone looking in my yard?
I have a mom I want to try and rejuvenate a bit but not sure how I should go about it. Was thinking maybe I should just put it outside at a buddys place instead with more privacy. I just dont think he would care enough to feed and water them properly, even with my help.

Sorry if this has already been discussed and thanks in advance for any tips.

Hope everyone's doing well and having a great day, beautiful day today!

I wouldn't put it outside in Thornton if it is in public view. You will have a cop at your door in a heartbeat and maybe a television crew on top of it. Thornton definitely likes to portray a tough on crime image.

I'm with MHB on this one too. If you have to ask yourself if it's cool, then the answer should probably be no.

Just remembered something for this edit. I remember seeing somebody on here with a garbage can that they put a plant in in order to have it out on their porch. This was a number of years ago. You can always get crafty if you really want to do something.

Gotcha, I was thinking it was probably like that. No dispensaries up here either, they really don't seem to want anything to do with cannabis.

Worst tap water I've ever had too btw, 250+ ppms (0.5+ EC) and pH comes out between 8.5 and 9.0
