dude thansk for the feedback on the trimpal on the last page, missed thta post till now, DEFINITELY will be using a dry machine next season, instead of 3 straight weeks of 8 hour days... TRIMMING SUCKS....
have you found a better dry trimmer or is the trimpal still your go to? a shop by me has a "mean green" trimmer for rent..
..i really do hate trimming and if buying a dry trimmer means i NEVER have to trim again, and i can use on it on my outdoor and indoor crops then shit id drop a good 5,000 on a good unit
smoke reports and dry shots would be lovely
Sorry, difference is time and day when it comes to machine then by hand. you can actually get what you want per unit, if u actually had the hands to help you trim. I hear people loosing 200+ per pack when it comes to hacked up shit compared to hand trim
actually it isnt..the only time i have seen anyone get less or bartered down when properly using a dry trimmer, is when they actually get lazy and dont touch it up. it doesnt butcher anything. now maybe certain extremely sativa swollen foxtailed flowers may not react well to the machine as they are naturally airy and defy the hard golfball structure type. i may trim that plant by hand in that case...but other than that the machine works efficiently and without many of the other hassles involved in trim crews...i.e. feeding them, numbers of people, security and such.
we also must not forget the social aspect of trimming as well. many folks enjoy the company and personal contact after a long lonely season. but i dont show people my underwear, dont invite associates and strangers over to my living room, and definately dont let anyone in my garden. my patients are the only ones allowed by law to even be considered to help, and most of them are sick enough that the thought of putting them on the hill just isnt realistic.
if you do the numbers on this you will find that if you have more than 20 full season plants in the "tom Hill" large plant style, it is not effecient, safe,or economical to consider having trim crews on your property for any ammount of time. me and my helper(one of my patients) can turn 20 units in 2 days of comfortable work(6hrs each)
regardless of how you look at it i can be done in 2 weeks, not a "Money Pit" 2 weeks. with absolutely no more people involved than i had helping me all year..with the pay averaging about $50 per unit, versus the $200 hand trim average the dry machine wins on every level. at $4500 purchase price it pays for itself the first dep...
that being said the mean green was too much bells and whistles for me. spins forwards and backwards, faster/slower, digital timers ect... i dont need all that..it doesnt make it come out any better. also constantly having to empty the catch bin/area was a pain in the ass.. i like that i can fit a large tote under the Pal and only have to empty it 2-3 times a day, or with every change of flavor.
i still hand trim my own head stash, but that is because im from the old school and leave on the leaf if its heavily crystallyzed. not because the machine is inferior in any way.
keep in mind it all needs to be touched up after its ran through.
snipping the odd leaf and crows feet. but thats about it and it turns a 10-20 man job into a 2-3 man job with no lack in potency and flavor..unlike a green trimmer(twister)
in your case east bay id say renting one for a long weekend would be totally legit, just make sure it bucked first, and completely dry...
hope that helps...
