hey e.b. thx for stopping in. its nice to have some company.
i just added neem meal yesterday..the smell kinda reminds me of coffee. i top dress every two weeks minimum. i picked up my soil in bulk and amended the rest. i mix teas twice a week. i think the blend of top dress, clear water, and top feed works out great.i just put in 5 gsc forum cuts for the head yesterday smaller pots..65g smarties.
real estate is a tricky game. its not the piece of land you are looking for. there could be 10 pieces that are the right one. its the right seller you are looking for, combined with the right neighborhood/neighbors. best time to buy is right now through late aug. and right before christmas. 30-50k down , and 60-90 day escrow and you are in almost anywhere in cali. mendocino and humboldt command a little more $ sometimes.
ill help if i can. great luck to you as well! ill get some more pics when i can. most likely post after 2nd cage on all levels..maybe next wk.
peace,
j.d.

thanks for the reply :)

I too have some forum cut cookies and platinum cookies in 45 gal smart pots, just for the head too, pics in the thread if u want to see...

I finished putting on my final cages today, next its a scrog wire cage a foot or so down into the cage, and finally string trellis over the whole thing to keep it all together... and viola... no more broken branches or flopping buds :) ...just gotta make sure you weave the branches through the cages correctly...

it sure was a hot one today, definitely no digging holes or mixing soil today ... good news is tomorrow is supposed to be a full 10 degrees cooler :woohoo:

i might pick your brain sometime about what it takes to get that property, what to look for ect.. and just general norcal questions, hope you dont mind...

compost tea yesterday.. high phos seabird guano, micronized compost tea, fish shrimp crab, hydrosolate, quantum light, and molasses. 400g bubbled then applied by hand. we are watering compost tea once a week now, and drip system delivers twice a week clear water. we are watering every other day...
on water..
Seems this will be a key issue here in california.
the spring is currently putting out about 250-300g per day.. down alot from the 2000 gpd in late spring. we stored all of our water back in late april early june. i have more than one spring on the property only two are still producing water. one further up the property is left open and only slightly developed. it is for the wildlife ,Birds,Deer, coyote, weasels, skunks, mice(and many more we haven't seen)and any wandering livestock.
the other spring has been piped and protected since the early 80's at least, no one knows for sure how far back. and is both my household and agricultural spring. ph is coming out at 7.0. and it is still cool clear and clean.all of my agg water has been stored, and my household water is refilled via spring. any extra water or overflow is piped back into the spring system from which it came just a few hundred yards further downhill from the source. water is key in nor-cal, probably one of the fundamental resources that can define wether or not you succeed in both your agg and household goals.
here in my area you either have it or you don't. and you either budgeted for that issue or you didnt. 15 yrs ago buying a water truck and starting a business, or a well drilling rig, may have been a waste of money. now its an entrepeneurs dream come true. if you have the truck and a good stable source of H20, you can be the most successful business man in town. period.
15 yrs ago the land out here was considered low value...cheap...you could have bought 5-10 properties for what only one costs today.
funny how things change...

Cali,
i have a spare set of tanks for dirty water(nutrients/compost) and use a small generator(costco), and or a solar panel/battery/inverter combo to power a small air pump and a fairly large 8" disk bubblestone. it helps that the raw compost tea powder is micronized so it suspends quite quickly and i dont have to say bubble it overnight... i start my tea bubbling about 6am and water in the afternoon. i can take some pics of the set up this week.
in the rurals having tanks is a must. 2ea @ 1550g for clear water...and two a 500g and a 300g for tea making.(these are not my storage, just service tanks). this is the only way to make enough tea to water 30+ full sun plants per service. making tea in a bucket or a 55g barrell will work for a closet or a few plants but it doesn't cut it for the whole garden. ive been using 300's and 500's for this very purpose for about 5yrs now and it seems to work great.
pics soon..

Im interested in how you hooked up the solar penal to the air pump. Take some pics of that of you don't mind.

I have been brewing in a garbage can...i think 45 gallon and diluting 10 to one.

That's pretty cool. You got a cool set up.

Solar panel - charge controller - battery
in that order..keeps the battery charged.
then with a full battery i just use a basic 800w
tailgating inverter from the auto parts store..
alligatorclips to connect it to the battery.extension cords
to the air pump.
its a lot like the trash can just bigger. Ill post some pics tomorro!

Weather or not u use the solar panel/chg. controll/battery/inverter combo.
or the generator its all the same. my harbor freight charge controller and my inverter melted down last week so I'm on a 2000w costco
generator to an extension cord untill further notice..pump is just sitting on top of my 500g.
